Some helpful tips, for the maze in King Sandybut's place if you clear the maze you can turn around and explore the maze without the timer to get the Witch Switch. For Mr. Vile, if you are having trouble with it, you can wait until you unlock the speed shoes in Gobie's Valley and come back to Mr. Vile and there are shoes in the back you can use.

Personally, I first tried without the shoes, and I actually was able to get to the third part, but gave up before I beat it. Once I got the shoes though, it actually seemed somehow like Mr. Vile got faster too, coz my wins became much closer to losses than before.

I agree. Shoes make vile easier if youre not good at his minigame. It could be worse though, you could be doing one of the "Anyway here's Wonder Wing" jiggies. Yellow Flibbits, Clanker Blades, Zubbas Nest, Boom Box... Those are some boring jiggies.

Dude wait does Wonder Wing actually work well on Boom Box? I've like never used it outside of when it was introduced, even in the Yellow Flibbits and the Zubba's nest parts. If so, thank God, because I sunk like a hundred eggs into that stupid box and still lost.

*Regarding the first jiggy you get in the game...*
I forget where, but I remember seeing someone describe how clever the placement of everything was. You can't see the jiggy when you walk in. So, you're likely to try to climb the slippery path first, as it's likely the first you'll see, only to see that you can't climb it. So, when you turn around, you'll see the entrance to Mumbo's Mountain. You'll be told you have to find a jiggy before you can enter, so when you walk out of the Mumbo's Mountain lobby, you'll see it clearly, glowing against the dark background, clear as day. It's all very cleverly set up.
As for bad jiggies, I'm surprised you didn't mention the jiggy at the top of Ticker's Tower in Mumbo's Mountain. It's like a mini Rusty Bucket Engine Room type of deal. The controls get worse here, because you have to be a termite to cross this terrain, which means you don't have your double jump. And this gets even worse with all the awkwardly-sloped platforms you have to jump on, in conjunction with the placement of the camera. If the camera just stayed behind you like normal, this would be a cakewalk. But instead, it's placed in such a way that wrecks your depth perception.
Also, lest anyone forget, *this is the first level.*

Bruh, GI is the best level in Tooie. You want a bad Tooie level? JRL. A water level in a game where the swimming is only tolerable if you hold the camera alignment button? Are you nuts? Only redeeming quality is the oxygenated water. As for Clanker and RBB, yeah I'll buy that they're among the worst stages in the original game... Well, if you exclude CCW, which wouldn't be half as bad as it is if I were playing the Xbox360 version where you don't lose notes when you die.

I mean, I've pretty much just gotten to Rusty Bucket and Click Click, and I think Rusty Bucket Bay really sucks just for the fact that it's the only level so far that has an entirely different air about it, in design. The oily water is stressful, and the Boom Box Bitch takes *way* too many eggs to kill, but that's all fine. Though the smaller TNT boxes are just bullshit when inside anywhere because they seem to always be placed off screen where you have no chance of avoiding them if you're going into the room blind. Anyway, my gripe with this level is just that it doesn't feel like a level that's difficult because that's how it's supposed to be, it feels like a level that's difficult because it's actively trying to kill you. Like, duh all levels are supposed to kill you until you learn them and get better, but so far Rusty Bucket just feels like it's more actively and violently trying to fuck you over. Like, any other level is the devs going "Here, try this one, it's kinda tough but it's fair", while Rusty is like the devs going "Fuck you, we're tired of your shit, game over time." It can still be fun once you kinda get it but it's much more frustrating than any other level, coz it feels engineered *only* to fuck you over and even if you know the place, it's still much easier to die than any other level so far, including Click Clock. IDK, that's my two cents. It still can be fun.

    - There's a trick to Mr. Vile, the color changes every 10 seconds on the timer: when I found that out it's now a piece of cake. Also when you know you're going to lose, you can just leave the room instead of getting hurt.
    - This is not told to you at all in the game for some damn reason but holding R while swimming helps you turn sharper. Paired with slow swimming it makes the swimming a bit more manageable, but yeah they're still clunky as hell.
    - The engine room has no reason to be over a bottomless pit, it's the only one in any of the main levels. Underneath the fans should've been acid or maybe oily water with snacker the shark.

    • @digitalunity

I like the fact that the first jiggy is impossible to miss. As in, you WILL find it eventually. If you turn right after entering Grunty's Lair,, you'll reach a dead end. The incomplete mural will be a spot of interest, and the puzzle piece-shaped pedestal that looks a lot like the picture's missing portion will likely draw attention. Standing on it will get you a message from Bottles, where he says something about needing to find something in the entryway. Going back through the corridor, the distance from the Jiggy's location when the structure first comes into view will be such that the sparkling, moving Jiggy is visible. I know it's because it's the first one, but I still appreciate the care taken to ensure that it WILL be found.

At least in the original n64 version, you could kinda cheese the propeller Jiggy in RBB by glitching through the window in the engine room. You could also collect the Jiggy from the Gobi's Valley witch switch without actually activating it by rolling in a certain corner of the statue where the jiggy is. Cool tricks like these kinda make me prefer the N64 version over the Xbox 360 version

Actually, i think the Xbox version is just a direct port, isn't it? Can't you technically still do these glitches?

    • @NicktheMajin42
      @NicktheMajin42 5 лет назад

@@digitalunity While both versions are essentially the same game, the xbox versions isn't a perfect port of the n64 version, i.e. it's not just an emulated version of the original game like what you see on something like Nintendo's virtual consoles. There are other differences besides a higher native resolution and a higher draw distance, such as musical notes and jinjo's being permanently collected rather than resetting after dying/leaving the level, fully implemented Stop N' Swop, and redrawn HUD elements.
As far as glitches go, I'm honestly not entirely sure which glitches from the n64 are actually fixed in the xbox version. My assumption here comes from the fact that people who speedrun BK almost always play it on n64 due to the fact that a lot of the tricks they do supposedly cannot be done on xbox (as well as the fact that dialogue can't be skipped in the xbox version).

So funny thing about the Witch Switch in King Sandybutt's tomb. It's possible to acquire the jiggie from the tomb in Gruntilda's lair before even entering Gobi's Valley, making that specific Witch Switch useless. A way to make Sandybutt less nerve wracking :)
