Thank you very much for this react and thank you for all the others who have made and always promoting brazilian bands and especially the vocalist André Matos who sadly left us this past week victim of a heart attack. Thank you very much.
Great reaction! It's funny because I really don't know what you're thinking about the song until you talk about it at the end. It's good to know that you liked this song. It's a classic song from Angra!
This second Angra album is very filled with brazilian folk music elements. And brazilian music is very rhythmically rich and complex. If you like these kind of rhythms you will love this album. And also the main themes on this album are the great navigations and Brazil colonization. You got that right on the fisrt song. About the birds. Here where i live(Northeast), we have no winter(Brazil is too big and the climates have too much diversity), and there's sound of birds during the entire year. There's a kind called 'anu branco'(Crotophaginae Guira Guira), that are so so noisy, that make impossible to sleep when they are nearby in the morning.
Ditto. In my opinion this is Angra's masterpiece. So much personality and so iconic at the time. Met Andre Mattos at their Holy Land debut concert back in the day, good times :)
WOW dude, I LOVE this song, and this is my favorite Angra album and lovers of the first lineup, and you got the concept right, I really enjoyed your interpretation and explanations. The lyrics were written mostly by Andre Matos and Rafael Bittencourt, two of the best composers of Metal in Brazil and the drummer was innovative at the time by mixing in a natural way something unusual, the Brazilian rhythm to traditional Metal (merits of the great Ricardo Confessori) and there are several excellent songs in this record, ballads, power and other songs with Brazilian rhythm. Listen to the next track, a beautiful powerful ballad called Make Believe.
Just so you know, when you get to make believe react to the full version from the song not the music video (its a very good music video but they cut the entire solo at the end of the song to short the song for tv).
The drummer, Ricardo Confessori said the drums in this song is a "samba metal" when he was practicing during the process of composition!
Holy Land is gorgeous ❣️ simply...
R.I.P André Matos. Amazing voice, great Singer. Brazil crying 😢
