Hey Hawkes, as always, a very entertaining vid and timely for me as I've been doing salvage in my Vulture to make enough space chowder to buy a Prospector and start mining now that the ROC is bugged and doesn't work properly. Also a shoutout to RedMonsterSC to whom you made reference in your vid. He is SC's mining God 😁
Great video as always. @Hawkes Gaming: Would you consider making a deep video about scanning? Types of stuff you can scan for, how far or in what position to be for best results, explaining the signatures and what they indicate as well as the hud. What bugs are there currently and potential workarounds (shooting mineable rock or leaving and returning comes to mind). Whether there are differences in scanning capability of different ships. Etc. Thanks
Well as it stands now it only really matters if youre mole mining in the halo and want to specifically find Q type asteroids.. For the most part now you just ping when you get sort of close to the ground level then go to the very first high signature you find. You usually find one after the first ping and most of the time there will be at least one good rock or multiple to mine.
@@HawkesGaming Thanks for the reply. I think I didn't express it correctly. When I wrote "scanning" I didn't mean just for mining purposes. I meant scanning in general. Player or npc ships, wrecks, cargo (that seems random or I do it wrong, sometimes i get results immediately sometimes not at all, even though I know the ship/wreck has cargo). And of course mining scanning, for example FPS,ROC,Prosp,Mole, how to recognize which signatures are relevant for each mining type and at what altitude and speeds to scan for them. I have looked for a hile now, but couldn't find an up to date and concise guide. Mostly just tidbits here and there in videos/articles focusing on something else. But this is just a suggestion, thank you for reading it regardless. Cheers
@Hawks Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you and your family, I hope it was safe and peaceful. Yes mining is still nerfed pretty hard. At least there is some functional parts to it. The refineries are overloaded and the wait times are rough, especially the refining fee over charging. I assume CIG is doing this - deleting money through fees and time to promote self refining once that finally comes out, hopefully that will remove the constant overloaded status at Refinery stations. Hangars could be great, an actual home until they also release Habitations. Being able to properly manage ships and inventory is a much needed change. : ) 🚧🚚
Yea, you're a solid source too, ya know Red monster and Hawkes. Helping me make millions of space ducats! I was getting frustrated with the Roc Mining so been salvaging and cargo running for my chedda. This is a nice way to break those up. Dig the other loops too but when you want a chill time in SC... Mining also Seems like it'd be helpful in engineering loops if they make the talent trees mesh like they should. :s
You can also change bags for more SCU 32>48, just take them from ARGO MOLE with tractor beam (need unlock ship components R.ALT+K) then when you have them just store Prospector, after thru Mobiglas remove power plant save and close Mobi ,reopen Mobi move back power plant save and close again and now you have biger bags even after claiming Prospector
Good Vid - should do a tutorial on how to swap the Prospector bags to mole bags. Need a willing donor but when you put the prospector bags on the mole, the mole actually doesn't lose any capacity!
I just do mining now to chill and have some fun with the laser minigame, for money its not worth thou.... things need rebalance badly..... but i get it, they push the money to every feature they need tested so the herd goes to produce data.
Hawkes i'll be honest man, i've been mining since patch 3.17, however in 3.22 I finally gave up from prospector for the vulture (for now). I will always continue watch your videos as always, hopefully mining changes in the future, thanks my dude. 🙌
Oh, didn't notice, congratulations. Btw I left you a comment with a video topic suggestion, if you want ideas for content to get to 200k. Cheers @@HawkesGaming
Bro I've been following you for years here and in Elite dude I got a gameplay Loop that you would absolutely love... you need to ditch those rocks man get you a space tow truck but I guess space tow ship i literally make over a million credits an hour doing absolutely nothing except tugging Hammerheads it's fun somebody needs to do an updated video on the SRV
I enjoyed prospect mining so much before they killed it. I melted my prospector and pledged for the SRV. Now when I use it, I can make $250k dragging away one hammerhead in less than 15 minutes. You don’t have to worry about the rock blowing up and killing you, like with the prospector. You don’t have to worry about losing your refined ore to pirates or a 30k. You also don’t have to hire a crew like on a salvage ship to shuffle the boxes. SRV hammerhead missions are quick and usually painless. If you take the time to EVA to the hammerhead and sit in the captain’s chair, you won’t even get a crime stat.
using the current meta money making strat is the key. mining pays peanuts. last patch it was risky 30k salvages. this patch its selling Construction Materials one at a time until your game bugs out and the selling price jumps up to 96k / 1 SCU
This seems like a much better situation for solo miners, but I lament the death of scouting gameplay. Scouting quant clusters and getting paid bounties was my favorite kind of gameplay.
That was a great little vid! Prospector mining was my first go-to but I used to just go out blind, and mine whatever I came across (intert materials excepted!). Once again, thank you for my "Emerald Gem" Cutter. I love that thing! And the 10 Mill we can say paid for the interior cleaning - she's got that 'new car smell' now. Seriously though, much much appreciated! I look forward to being able to take you out in the Reclaimer I bought, make some mega space-cheddar and teach you how to land while we're at it hahaha just teasing. Matter of fact, I'm the _last_ person who should be landing a Reclaimer... I lost 6 hours of IRL time when she dropped outta the sky like a lead-wrapped boulder... blowing-up what could have been 2 million in RMC in the process... uuuuugh... Kinda makes me wanna go out in the prospector again. At least I can land one of those as gracefully as a feather... I hope you might consider doing some Let's Play footage coz when I'm at work, this is the only way I can get my Star Citizen fix! Happy New Year Hawkes, and thanks again for your kindness and entertaining content!
Doing Salvaging Wreck Clean Up runs is less frustrating and you are guaranteed 80k per wreck, each taking about 5 minutes. I think my Prospector will be sold off for spares as soon as we can do that.
Any ideas how to fix the prospector, when the storage bags are blown off? I’ve tried repairing, I’ve tried destroying the ship and retrieving it, I’ve tried almost everything. It’s still shows up without the bags.
why does my storage bags keep falling off my prospector? ? i mine one rock and few minutes later they fall off like and when it happens it hurts my ship to reclaim another one
im looking forward to the day we can park the ship on a node and get a coffee while we let it mine away at a big node, maybe get a few lads on the same underground node (non-coop rocks so they dont overheat, not that a node the size of a building would ever overhead)
Hey dude just hopped on recently after not playing for a while, so quick question: What is better currently for early cash? - renting the cutty black and roc - renting a prospector
The Roc as the mining head on a rental prospector is really crap. It'll cut back on how consistently you find the rocks you want to mine. Something you wont run into doing roc mining at all.
@@HawkesGaming wait can you say that again? "The Roc as the mining head on a rental prospector is really crap" Are you saying the Prospector's mining head is crap or the Roc's?
Just tried salvaging yesterday with a vulture. Made around 900k for 2 hours work. So id say its pretty similar. The best i was getting with prospector was 150-200k an hour. But looks like i was on a bad planet for prospector. Will try again later
Try Wreck Clean Up under the Personal tab. 80k per wreck and you only have to fracture the wreck to get paid. You do not even have to collect materials.
Hi. I'm making between 600-700K aUEC in under an hour, in the Vulture by doing the "Clean Up" mission, that are found in the Personal tab of the MobiGlass. It's easy money, but I suspect it'll get a nerf because it's a little too good.
With the 80k mission + collecting rmc. You can make 600-900k an hour depending on how efficient you are. I did that until I got my reclaimer. Reclaimer is stupid money. Takes about an hour and a half doing 8* 250k missions and you make 12m+ per load. Salvaging is nuts right now. But prospector mining money is back to respectable again. So that's good.
If you're having trouble getting mods to 'stick' I fixed it by synchronising my PC's time with windows.time .. you do it via the control panel. Sounds strange but it works.
It certainly isnt the golden days of the Prospector anymore, but it is nice to see the devs are addressing the issue and at least trying to make the Prospector a viable solution for mining again. For most of 2023 Prospector was a waste.
