    Forgot to mention one important thing about Defaults Weapons- Magnified UI On at 3:47. You actually want that setting Off. It makes the pip bigger which gives you a false sense of accuracy. Set Defaults Weapons- Magnified UI Off, for better accuracy.

    Very good video explaining what the settings do. Curious to know your Gamma, Brightness, Contrast settings as well. Looked like you just had everything at 50/50/50.
    With clouds, I notice a lot of pixelation, black dots in the clouds at anything below very high. I run a 4070s so I am still above 60fps in places like Bloom even at 1440p. I am not sure what is causing the black static noise in the clouds though. I see a lot of odd artifacting in shadows as well though and have those on very high. Still not sure what the water regions does though. Also not sure what screen space shadows refers to.

    • @JohnathanWinters
      @JohnathanWinters  Месяц назад +1

      For screen space shadow just look up ssao. The cloud pixelation is just an issue with how cig makes clouds. Unless you use photo mode you'll always have some pixelation.
      Correct on my color setup. My game looks better the average though since I use reshade to dial in my colors.

    Screen space shadows, is a bit ambiguous, they can be both or one of screen space Ambient occlusion, or screen space contact shadows, which internally are computed similarly, and can be combined in one render pass, but visually they are different and complement each other, star citizen uses both afaik, but i have not tested which of both exactly the setting affects

    • @majboomer1285
      @majboomer1285 Месяц назад +1

      Coupled vs. Decoupled. When in coupled flight mode your ship automatically uses thrusters to keep your position and momentum in check. The biggest thing you will notice is that when you apply forward throttle and then let off of forward, coupled will bring your ship to a stop automatically, in Decoupled mode it will keep moving until you manually apply reverse throttle to counter the forward momentum. This applies to all of your strafe and thruster inputs as well. I fly coupled when landing, taking off or where precision is needed, decoupled for combat and cruising. Both have their pluses and minuses in different situations.

    What do you mean don't use space brake in combat? maybe in Fighters.... But in anything Connie size or larger, space brake with boost is CRITICAL to landing shots on smaller ships, and getting to correct combat speed when gliding into a mission area hot out of decoupled Nav mode at close range.
    I'm with you on everything else though.

    • @JohnathanWinters
      @JohnathanWinters  Месяц назад

      You def don't want to space break on a big ship the more you slow yourself the easier it is to close on you.
      You can steady your shot with a big ship by just pushing the pip away.

    • @seraph8672
      @seraph8672 Месяц назад

      @@JohnathanWinters I feel you on that, but in a connie vs a smaller ship you are not in any position to rely on your energy to get a shot, you need to force the opponent to overshoot into your firing arc. There is no point in trying to keep speed up when you are already so handicapped for speed to start with, we're not winning any rate fights in connies lol.

    • @JohnathanWinters
      @JohnathanWinters  Месяц назад

      @@seraph8672 I'd Have to see a specific scenario. Space break wouldn't necessarily make them overshoot into your crosshair. It could have the opposite effect depending on what they are doing.
      You might benefit more by playing lag pip and using your strafes to push the pip to where you want it with strafes.

    • @Velthus
      @Velthus Месяц назад

      @JohnathanWinters My guess is what he should be doing is boosting, going decoupled (if you weren't already), face in their general direction with gimbal mode on and mouse aim them down. Once you slam people into the speed wall it's harder for them to get around you and multiple size 4's and 5's even with the RoF nerf is going to hurt a LF.
      Against skilled pilots it's less likely you can pull that off since once a fighter is on you, you'll never be able to out rate it even with the gimbal benefit.

    • @seraph8672
      @seraph8672 Месяц назад

      @@Velthus So generally that is what you would do. You 'best bet" in the connie is go decoupled, and gimballed and try to turn the whole ship into a turret.
      The problem is there is a massive geometry problem with the current flight model which makes it far too easy for smaller ships to straight up dodge the projectiles from size 5s out past 500 meters and you do not have the speed to keep the smaller ship within 500 meters. So you need to bait them into going on a full burn orbit around you and as they swing around behind you you change your rotation direction and hope to catch them while they are reversing to continue to evade. This will be your only chance for them to be moving slow enough to land some shots and the space brake boosted is very much going to help you do it.
      And even if you DO manage to catch them unaware and get them to orbit right into your LoS a small ships rate of acceleration means it can cover usually two to 3 of its own hull length in the time it takes your projectiles to reach their position so you need to lead the shot even more than your pips are telling you to.
      The actual right answer is just put scatter guns on your turrets and don't fly alone lol.
