You know why I love your videos? Cause I'm a huge animal lover and I grew up in the country, and I love to just feel like I've just spent a day with you on the farm. This videography is just exquisite!
Im from the bush in aus here is some insightful info. When coming in to breeding season you may spot males building nests, by laying twigs and leaves on the ground. The females may strut around with their heads back and their chests out, but boys can display too. The boys become quite soppy, or they may no longer approach you as they do in summer, and females may become quite feisty leading up to, and entering into emu breeding season. When a female is mature you may be able to see and feel a wobbly sack hanging down below her neck, by the chest. This is from where she generates her drumming sound. You need to feel a few different subjects' sacks to know exactly what you are looking for though. If they dont produce babies they make great baked dinners 😂
The problem with letting Bamboo and Bert figure out who is more dominant is that if Bamboo is more dominant and has no interest in Cashew, Bert and Cashew won't mate. Bamboo won't allow it. Also, Bamboo might be imprinted on humans as he grew up for the first year only with humans. He may never breed because of it. By the way he was trying to breed with you. I doubt he will ever breed. It would be better to remove him from the other two, or it will just cause problems in the future. The only other thing you could possibly try is getting another female, possibly one that is his age or a little older than him.
Everyone who keeps saying this is incorrect, emu's easily fall in love with humans they believed were more beautiful than other emu's people by using stand-in body parts to milk and artificially inseminate them there's a special body collection peace for collecting male samples and females make it easy
@@boundedscythe7726 Sure a.i. is possible just like it is with any other species of bird. It comes down to if they are willing to go through it every breeding cycle when they have two perfectly able males as long as they find the correct pairing.
That's not always the case you needed to make sure you let them know that it is likely to happen and does happen quite often but not all the time just because the dominant male is not attempting to breed at all with any of the females does not mean that he's going to prevent any of the males from breeding I've had this same issue with dogs chickens ducks and even barn cats and I'm pretty sure my grandparents were dealing with this in horses and cows I can't speak for their experience but I can most definitely speak to mine I know animals and their temperaments are different with different species and breeds but it's not going to make as large of a difference as what you might have been thinking
With Joey, put her on a long line that’s attached to you and not in your hand. Don’t ask or tell her to do anything just go about your chores. You can tell her good when you’re happy with her going with you and waiting when appropriate etc. What you’re doing is giving her the choice to do the waiting “on her terms” you can obviously tug on the long line if she’s wandering off but don’t say anything
We breed emus here in Australia years ago, we started with 8 pairs, they all went into the same paddock of about 4 acres, within 2 years we had 100 birds all incubator hatched.
The first time I saw them was just as they were to start their channel, visiting Living Traditions Homestead. Or Hooomesteadd, as Kevin says at the intro, lol. They seemed nervous. They were passing through, and stopped at LTH where they were introduced to their viewers Now, they've surpassed them at 1mil subs. LTH is nearing 800k. Wow.
The cow picture is called diamond painting. Its beautiful. I do a lot of diamond paintings. And it can be quite time consuming. She did a wonderful job. Merry Christmas to you all. I have been s subscriber for a couple of years and have enjoyed watching your family grow. God bless
TRUST ME!!! It is much much much more to breed emu's when they have atleast an acre, to even a twp or more acres of land to do their thing, especially with that many birds! they are the size of, you would not want to do anything in that little space, you would just be stressed and more drawn to the confinement than to natural proceses! the rancher i have worked with for years raised emu's and peacocks for years, and he always said, that if they arent allowed to free range, then they wont breed, and they will always attack you! i worked with him for 15 years till he died, but this man always knew his stuff, and it was always from trial and error! he had the best thought process which i hold as well, which is if something isnt working, then its the surroundings, not the grouping! he was a very succesfull breader of cows, emus, peacocks, chickens, lambs, you name it! a good ole wyoming boy through n through. we lost him to covid, and i will miss him dearly. give your birds allot more space if you are trying to breed, and you will most definitely have allot more success.
Ive been binge watching the last 5 years of your life this week. I love your precious family and wonderful life. Thanks for all the videos, Im glad I found your channel.
