@@AshenVictor in one of milkandcookiestw multiplayer matches he had a fight between wood elves and greenskins (so non-upgraded units) there was 2 river troll hags and first one got deleted by ranged fire very early on and second one was deleted by being surrounded with a single great stag knight unit - the ror version. (never seen any other hero unit die that quickly) They both died incredibly quickly in that match... im not sure how much you can buff them in campaign to make that not the case? :P Not questioning their spellcasting ability tho.
@@Otakahunt Well, they really need support to do anything in melee. You can buff them quite a bit, but more importantly this list is meant for campaign, where the AI won't be "as smart" as players when focusing heroes.
@@Otakahunt troll hags are large units. They're easy to hit with missiles and if surrounded they can be attacked by multiple units. That's why they're so easy to kill despite their hp in those situations. But put them in the middle of your own infantry you'll see that they can last quite a while.
There's only one way to use the eshin sorcerer : make use of the shuriken. A lot. Just constantly harass enemy lord with them. They are a great projectile for dealing with lord, heroes and monsters tbh.

If you're mostly using doomstacks then I can see why you might not like them but ignoring them altogether, especially on Legendary, is downright dumb. 1. Unlike most other projectile spells, Warp Stars go straight through anything between the caster and the target. With proper positioning it's easy to get 50 kills per cast. 2. Veil of Shadows and Black Whirlwind are effectively the Skaven's Net of Amyntok, for ground troops anyway. 3. They are good enough in melee to be able to help any unit in trouble, and have the tools to help that unit and themself escape. They can tank half a stack of low tier troops like goblins all on their lonesome while dishing out the pain, and that's pretty damn good for a caster without a mount. 4. They're small targets with 20% Missile Resistance, Vanguard, and Stalk. They're also fast enough to outrun most infantry. 5. Most important of all Toxic Rain, their Lore Attribute, stacks with poison and you can keep it up pretty consistently. Map-wide -10% melee and ranged damage is good but combine it with any source of poison like hero weapons, Gutter Runners, or Bless with Filth, and that goes up to -25%. Toxic Rain also provides -10% speed, which stacks not only with the -15% speed from poison but also the -10% from the Plague Priest's Plague Rash attribute, AND the -35% speed from Ratling Guns, for a grand total of -70% speed, all while making summoned Clanrats take up to 25% less damage. How can that NOT be useful on any difficulty, let alone Legendary? Eshin Sorc's make Assassins and Plague Priests better.

He cares A LOT about RUclips's algorithm and the consistent view counts. After years of watching Legend you will notice that he also prefers content that requires zero to minimum post-production effort . This is why his content is usually all made in one take and non-scripted. He may use prompts. The content of Legend's which has the most effort, and ironically his highet view counts, are his "top 5" videos. But, they require lots of prep and editing; so he doesn't think the effort is worth it. As mentioned above, he cares more for consistent viewership; despite his viewers constantly asking for more of this, Legend will be the first to tell his audience that he doesn't like putting in that much effort. These tier lists are a gold mine for him. Absolutely zero prep-time and no scripts. He is literally just sharing his experience and then rakes in the views. Personally, I think it's a win-win. The reason his videos are popular is because of his candidness and conversational themes. When Legend streams or makes videos he makes his audience feel as though he is talking to them from across a table as apposed to talking TO them with scripts. This is why I love Legend, anyway. To say that Legend listens to his viewers is complete and utter nonsense. If legend does something that viewers asked for, then it is simply a matter of what coincides with the least amount of effort and what boosts his algorithm score. This comment is not criticism. It is just an observation from years of watching his videos and streams.

If you believe the comment section is your viewer base, you are really wrong. Listening the data is listening the audience. @@danieltadd it seems like it could have been in the past as this Hero tier list has been requested some time ago and he delivered..I agree that what's good about him is his honesty with what he wants from us and from RUclips, but to me it's worth more as its not hidden behind any masks. If he was exactly as you said, he would make a lot more promoted videos. Moreover, he does hours and hours of campaigns he doesn't want (some he rightly quits if people lose interest) just from what we ask. The day I noticed I could put my SC on an ancient steggo in the vanguard deploy zone and give him stalk was the day I stopped buying Red Crested Skinks for anyone but Tenny. "Sneak Steggodon" is the entire reason I don't suck at beating the crazy amount of Vampire Coast guys you fight in the Lustrian midgames. "Oh wow man, you have a bunch of artillery? That's cool bro; have an Ancient Stegadon behind your lines - I guess there's a Skink Chief on the back buffing it up too... kthanxbye." Edit: I guess I should just add that you have to remember to take him off skirmish; took me a really long time to realize the Ancient Stegadon is basically a line pulverizer and not "a much crappier version of the regular Stegodon with worse range" because I never just put him into melee mode and sent him in - after a while I noticed him behaving like the biggest skink skirmisher in history and realized I was using him wrong. Beginner problems, lol.
I'm trying to think how many that would be if you consider every Archmage lore a separate one for instance (which you have to because a HE Life archmage for instance has a WILDLY different value than, say, high magic archmage)
@@JB-xl2jc i think that would just come down to the lore of magic tier list tbh. the same generic lords with different spells ain't really different from each other, aside from the spells, and that's simply the lore, not the lords.
I'll just add my little grain of salt about the witch hunters: If you own middenheim and build the high temple of middenheim (tier 5), you gain the ability to recruit witch hunters everywhere, even in ruined settlements, wich is great in an emergency or when you want to blitzkrieg your way into an area with attrition (by delaying enemy armies or killiing enemy heroes)

@@Morbak546 Off the top of my head, Oxyotl, Imrik, and Alarielle have skills to unlock Skink Oracles, Nobles, and Handmaidens, in all settlements while one of Teclis' quest items unlocks Mages. It really isn't as good as it sounds. Unless you really, really, really, absolutely must have a level 1 hero right here and right now, you're always better off hiring from a province where you can hire at a higher level.
@@KazeKoichi Well, you have to be careful with them, for sure. But putting mages on flying mounts is pretty much always really good. Makes it so easy to position them for a good cast. Can fly forward, cast, then fly back out of the line of fire again. Needs to be micro'd a bit but still really nice.
@@KazeKoichi Thing is though, mages do have tiny health pools, so putting them on a dragon is a big thing since their HP increases a bunch and is good in case of overcast miscasts. And even though they are bigger targets, the incendiary trait basically makes them one of the strongest 'doomstacks' in the game. It does take ages to get them to that point, though. Im always conflicted on Dragons, I think as a unit they suck, but as a mount they are awesome. I put all lords on dragon mounts if they have one available.

What blows my mind about Legend is that he's not just good at optimizing one faction. He's good at all the factions in the game. Good work, man. I can't imagine how much research this one took.
So true. Sometimes he quotes his like 12k+ hours in the game as the reason, but that's not really the point - he's just being modest. Also, it's interesting to notice how his gameplay and opinions on stuff have evolved since "staunch line of spears", though. He's a smart, perfectionist exploits-loving guy playing my favorite game. Just great.

One thing about Runesmiths that i feel is worth pointing out is that they get the Sharpen Weapons action, which gets +10% missile and weapon damage for the army, which is pretty good, also Wardbreaker reduces enemy missile resistance which is very good for a missile heavy army like the Dwarfs
@@UndeadMongoose301 The Hammerers skill buff is actually ok since it also gives guardian to the Thane, great on one of Belegar's Thanes so the ethereal heroes hit the physical resistance cap. The hammerers buff itself kind of suck tho
It's actually +13% (3% base +10% from skill points). It's worth having one of them for Sharpen Weapons and Wardbreaker, because quite a lot of high tier units get 20% missile resist.
Sad part is that's about the only reason to bring them. Who wouldn't choose even eshen magic or nehekara over the new rune system? Only good part is you can make alot of runesmiths...but thanes and engis so much harder to get in quantity. Usually I fill em in for gun lines as a squishy thane to hold the line...but I lose them sometimes on tough battles.
For Empire I would say that Warrior Priests are S Tier and Witch Hunters are A, with the new Empire Buff you can get 100% success rate all the time with how the lords new skill work, when a warrior priest lord gets level 2 you can instantly increase the capacity for both Witch hunters and Warrior priests with a bonus of +2 untainted PER CHARACTER. This make it so stacking warrior priests in an army 100x easier and makes it so each gun powder army has a better front line. Plus you can wipe out corruption anywhere with just one character by around turn 50+.
4600 hours logged, and Skaven is my favorite race, but somehow I never realized that Plague Furnace had the mortis engine effect. Thanks for another great tier list.
I play tomb kings a lot. I know that lich priests are lacking in good lores. The one thing I think that goes overlooked in this guide is their recruitment boosts. Not only for lords but units. With their skill tree you can actually get enough of these quickly, with khatep because he boosts how many you can have and their rank, to actually recruit units at rank 9 in one army. Yes this means having 5 priests in one army all at rank 10, but recruiting army units that take advantage of all red line boosts from your lord is a great boost. Especially since your units need all the help they can get.
You're right. I started a Khatep campaign and refreshed liche priests until I got two with the wise trait. Then gave both of them the skill to recruit with an extra rank of experience. Whenever I fight a battle now, I just combine my chaff and receuit skeleton spears with 7 ranks of experience. Makes the game so much easier.
to be fair, once skaven start building their bells they stop having caster capacity because you get A LOT of bell polishers, which can then be equipped on each and every character therefore boosting your caster capacity without limitation
Ive waited so long for this. Heroes are a bit harder to understand than units. Even after playing every race on legendary oncd i am still not sure which ones are good which arent.
I`d say dwarf's rune priest deserve a mention of their +10% weapon/missile str buff and -10% missile resistance to local enemies skill. I think 1 is a must have in a dwarf stack.
It feels like he could have split S and A tier further up. That would have provided more information. But overall great video. The positions make sense to me. Although those videos are even more about the discussion of each unit than the exact rank. At least that's what I care more for.
I boosted a few wood elf archer hero with the forge of daithe stuff and they could have around 100 ammunition and 2000 damage and with like 3 or 4 of them they can delete all the heros and lords on an army faster than most things
I like that this whole series of tierlists for like the last 2 months will never go out of date since the game is done with updates. Perfect time to make these kinds of lists

Yea, but at least you still get talon of kurnous trait on your lords to give you the range buff to your army. Idk I feel like they should give it to the waystalkers again but just reduce it.
I always end up adding one to hawk rider stacks as the grounded unit. Rarely ever have to hide them off in a corner either - if they get discovered just makes a nice blob target for some dwellers and volleys lol
Man, I used to hate the idea of Total War mixing with fantasy but then I realized Warhammer's lore is awesome. Been reading about lords and watching videos about the game and damn, so good! Greenskins are awesome to play, having a lot of fun with Grom or "yer immensity" as we should call him.
When you put them all on a screen together it doesn't actually look like an overwhelming amount. Now, put them all together on a campaign map, and you've got yourselves 5 times the turn time! Great list, there are some heroes I never checked out so I'll be sure to go back after this list.
and the thing is about the eshin sorcerer, even though it is probably the worst hero, in the faction it is meant for, Clan eshin, hes useful there for the shadowy dealings mechanic. so they do have their uses, which like legend said, all of them do
He is actually really good. But skaven is swimming in heroes. You will get access to way more plague/ruin priest than you can use, and plague priest are a must
I mean, you can use them for shadowy dealings, but it's super easy to have your assassin capacity higher than you could ever use, so why bother with eshin sorcerers? And master assassins can do shadowy dealings too, even if they're not on the map. Like, I have a master assassin lord that occasionally takes over when snikch needs to go on a vacation, but the rest of the time, that lord just sits in the recruit pool, carrying out my shadowy dealings and leveling while he's at it
There are 2 things fimir balefiends are really good for. You can use them for a scary stack which is obviously the strongest army norsca can have and is cheaper than mammoth spam and you can use them to increase growth at faction capitals such as Altdorf that take forever to grow and you don't always get the opportunity to occupy them at tier 4. If you notice an incoming attack that the garrison can't handle you can just recruit a lord and put your balefiends in that army and they will usually turn things around for you, since they work well in armies that have lots of infantry like garrisons and their low speed doesn't hinder them as much when defending.
I've been absolutely binging your content allllll week and it's been really helpful and interesting as I learn twwh2, I've gotten 30 hours in the past few days and it's a blast!!!! Could you do a regiments of renown tier list?
One good thing about blunderbuss engineers are that they boost your melee, making engineers more viable as line-holders. Which works if you're not getting much value out of sniping.
Another couple things thing you didn't really mention about Skink Chiefs; they can assassinate enemy heroes, boost region income and if you level them up, you can have them get vanguard deployment and stalk on a Stegadon, which can be pretty useful (especially in a pompous doomstack).
I think that Empire Captains are pretty useful in armies. They are (with Bretonnian Paladins) the only type of heroes that can be flying AND shielded. It makes them damn efficient at disrupting the ennemy backline of missile units and artillery without being shot to death in seconds.
The black orc big bosses can wipe out half of a Garrison in one agent action if trained properly. They're also quite effective against armies. Maybe not enough to bump them up a tier, but I think it's worth mentioning
Depends on playstyle, same as you don't see Legend spamming "assault garrison", I just don't like doing it too, it's so stupid it breaks my immersion when playing. It's not 'poison the well' or 'incite riots' as it was in historical total wars and it can't be, since orc big boss can only try to set something on fire and most likely fail at that ^^ I feel like that feature is just not needed to play this game at all.
Do different heroes have different efficiency when assaulting garrison? I used to do this action when starting playing WH2 but stopped because casualties are usually pretty pathetic even with 3 skill points in "Assault Garrison". Never tried with the BOBB though
@@alexeyalexandrov7583 BOBB gets skill unlocks that vastly improve the Assault Garrison/Units agent actions, and an ancillary that boosts them as well. Add these to the trait you get for successfully performing the action enough times and you hit 50% effectiveness. Excellent for taking out those pesky Dwarf and Lizardmen garrisons.
Interesting Beastmen hero fact: both the Wargor and the Gorebull can assassinate, not just wound. I think they might be the only race with two generic assassinators.

Good video. I feel Empire Captains should have their flying mounts taken into consideration. Battlefield mobility is so useful for distracting powerful enemy units and also to focus down on artillery and archers.
One good thing about waystalkers is they can fire while staying hidden-this lets someone pick off important units in an enemy army over time. Having 2 or more in an army speeds up the process of taking down power or scary enemy units. Wood Elf armies are good at hiding in forests so this can be done before the enemy army discovers most of the wood elf army and is distracted by fast moving units like glade riders or other things they can chase for awhile.
you know what would be awesome? The addition of a rank 20 skill that is mutually exclusive with immortality. I’m thinking a really strong and cheap spell, or like an all around stat boost with ward save and regen… just like a skill that makes the hero WAY stronger… at the cost of losing the ability to make them immortal. Risk/reward.
I think the Liche Priest was too harsh to place in "A" tier. It ncreases lord recruit rank in addition to royal burriel cha,mbers and the Great Incantation of Tahoth, increases unit experience rank in addition to other unit recruit ranks, increase local hero action success chance, decrease that of the enemy's, increase research rate slightly in addition to capturing settlements to maintain quick research times and WoM reserves on top of increases from dynasty research, Knowledgeable and if you take the Sixth Book of Nagash. If capacity is still a sticking point for people whom aren't happy they are limited, keep in mind by the time you hit the hLiche priest capacity for HQ Khalida or Settra, you shall have access to plentiful constructs from which you may destroy your enemis with if not magic in armies without a wizard. Tomb Kings have no spellcaster lord but do have access to powerful missile and monster units to offset their limited magic capabilities.
Thank you for this Tier List Legend. It is incredibly helpful. Regardless of how this content was conceived, it answered some of the questions I had when playing my campaigns. I asked for this sort of video in another Tier List and was disregarded by other viewers. Whether Legend had seen similar comments in other videos or not I feel meets some people were asking for and I am grateful for it.
Skinwolves are S tier all day long. crazy good in melee and regen. Strongest no magic doomstack in game. Massive melee attack increasing traits and if you equip them all with good gear they are unstoppable regening and fighting battle after battle
as a beastmen player i miss recruiting units at rank 9 with gorebulls lol and i keep forgetting how many heroes are added with mixu's lord mods, slayer heroes, shadowdancers, as well as some lore friendly special heroes like kouran darkhand and some other awesome dudes like that
The Eshin sorcerer is actually kind of okay in one scenario: Sieges. So if you break a gate you can use him to blast the enemies away and break through the guaranteed chokepoints. . . Well, shame that the Plague priest clears the chokepoint - but if you're early in as Eshin and don't have the buildings and upkeep to get Plague Priests just yet and you go for a Siege (probably rushing Imrik or Malus) then they have one somewhat decent use. Not like it would save him from D tier, I just think it's worth mentioning that he's not completely useless if you rush a major settlement of the cheating AI.
Dayum, you did Eshin Sorcerers dirty P.S: I'd say the Malevolent branchwraits of Drycha deserved their own entry, since they are distinct in relation to the regular ones that have the mixture of lores of magic
Not sure if Drycha's Branchwraiths fit in here, but I think they are more amazing than regular Branchwraiths. You get to pick their lore of magic, so the life ones have regen, life spells, and are decent fighters on top of getting the Branchwraith traits. I'd put Drycha's Branchwraiths at S teir.
I think the werekin deserved S tier, I mean if it's a common doomstack choice then why not? Though to be fair, it is norsca and those poor bastards don't have much going for them.
50:30 I got to like 70 capacity for Skaven Sorcerers by turn 100 by simply attaching the bell Polisher in existing heroes, on my first campaign. You start getting these followers once you get your Tier 5 Buildings built, either the Public order one or Sorcerer one.
Great tier list from legend again. Agree with pretty much every ranking and the fact that casters are all ranked so highly (well, most anyway!) currently playing my first ever Dwarfs campaign and I really miss my spell casters! 😬

Vampire Coast spellcasters are not as inconvenient to aquire as the other 2, cause they come from ports, and you tend to get more ports as VC. And they have lore of vampires... so I'd put them on S tier actually.
33:50 Even with the runesmith update, GUN is the best dwarf spell. I can see 1 reason to get Eshin sorcerers and it's a total meme. Essentially just...stacking Cathayan training in a region (and more knowledgeable) because skaven wizards basically don't have a capacity limit thanks to bell polishers. Is it dumb? Yes. Would another stack of plague priests be better? Probably, but they won't be sitting around with a bell to get more polishers.
For high elves, I love stacking heroes with the Honed trait in a single army for the +5 melee attack and defense to spearmen, archers, Lothern Sea Guard etc. and getting a doomstack of shielded LSG with like 80+ melee defense and 55% missile block, making them even tankier than Ironbreakers, with a missile attack and anti-large bonus to boot. So much fun. Only weakness is the lack of AP damage so a checkerboard with LSG at the front and Sisters of Avelorn at the back is unstoppable, really good against high mobility armies like Dark Elves and Beastmen, or missile-heavy armies like Skaven

1. Unlike most other projectile spells, Warp Stars go straight through anything between the caster and the target. With proper positioning it's easy to get 50 kills per cast.
2. Veil of Shadows and Black Whirlwind are effectively the Skaven's Net of Amyntok, for ground troops anyway.
3. They are good enough in melee to be able to help any unit in trouble, and have the tools to help that unit and themself escape. They can tank half a stack of low tier troops like goblins all on their lonesome while dishing out the pain, and that's pretty damn good for a caster without a mount.
4. They're small targets with 20% Missile Resistance, Vanguard, and Stalk. They're also fast enough to outrun most infantry.
5. Most important of all Toxic Rain, their Lore Attribute, stacks with poison and you can keep it up pretty consistently. Map-wide -10% melee and ranged damage is good but combine it with any source of poison like hero weapons, Gutter Runners, or Bless with Filth, and that goes up to -25%. Toxic Rain also provides -10% speed, which stacks not only with the -15% speed from poison but also the -10% from the Plague Priest's Plague Rash attribute, AND the -35% speed from Ratling Guns, for a grand total of -70% speed, all while making summoned Clanrats take up to 25% less damage. How can that NOT be useful on any difficulty, let alone Legendary?

LegendofTotalWar primarily follows the view counts. He cares A LOT about RUclips's algorithm and the consistent view counts.
After years of watching Legend you will notice that he also prefers content that requires zero to minimum post-production effort . This is why his content is usually all made in one take and non-scripted. He may use prompts.
The content of Legend's which has the most effort, and ironically his highet view counts, are his "top 5" videos. But, they require lots of prep and editing; so he doesn't think the effort is worth it. As mentioned above, he cares more for consistent viewership; despite his viewers constantly asking for more of this, Legend will be the first to tell his audience that he doesn't like putting in that much effort. These tier lists are a gold mine for him. Absolutely zero prep-time and no scripts. He is literally just sharing his experience and then rakes in the views. Personally, I think it's a win-win.
The reason his videos are popular is because of his candidness and conversational themes. When Legend streams or makes videos he makes his audience feel as though he is talking to them from across a table as apposed to talking TO them with scripts. This is why I love Legend, anyway.
To say that Legend listens to his viewers is complete and utter nonsense. If legend does something that viewers asked for, then it is simply a matter of what coincides with the least amount of effort and what boosts his algorithm score.
This comment is not criticism. It is just an observation from years of watching his videos and streams.

If he was exactly as you said, he would make a lot more promoted videos. Moreover, he does hours and hours of campaigns he doesn't want (some he rightly quits if people lose interest) just from what we ask. That takes dedication and even if a little, the will to fulfill our viewing desires

The day I noticed I could put my SC on an ancient steggo in the vanguard deploy zone and give him stalk was the day I stopped buying Red Crested Skinks for anyone but Tenny. "Sneak Steggodon" is the entire reason I don't suck at beating the crazy amount of Vampire Coast guys you fight in the Lustrian midgames. "Oh wow man, you have a bunch of artillery? That's cool bro; have an Ancient Stegadon behind your lines - I guess there's a Skink Chief on the back buffing it up too... kthanxbye."
Edit: I guess I should just add that you have to remember to take him off skirmish; took me a really long time to realize the Ancient Stegadon is basically a line pulverizer and not "a much crappier version of the regular Stegodon with worse range" because I never just put him into melee mode and sent him in - after a while I noticed him behaving like the biggest skink skirmisher in history and realized I was using him wrong. Beginner problems, lol.

I'll just add my little grain of salt about the witch hunters: If you own middenheim and build the high temple of middenheim (tier 5), you gain the ability to recruit witch hunters everywhere, even in ruined settlements, wich is great in an emergency or when you want to blitzkrieg your way into an area with attrition (by delaying enemy armies or killiing enemy heroes)

Oxyotl, Imrik, and Alarielle have skills to unlock Skink Oracles, Nobles, and Handmaidens, in all settlements while one of Teclis' quest items unlocks Mages.
It really isn't as good as it sounds. Unless you really, really, really, absolutely must have a level 1 hero right here and right now, you're always better off hiring from a province where you can hire at a higher level.
I'd like to mention the High Elf fire mage gets a special mount. A sun dragon.
He did mention that. Not very clearly but if you know about it he did say it. "if you want to burn enemies with dragons" just forgot the mount part
Dragons are overrated anyway. They are too big target for enemy's ranged fire.
@@KazeKoichi Well, you have to be careful with them, for sure. But putting mages on flying mounts is pretty much always really good. Makes it so easy to position them for a good cast. Can fly forward, cast, then fly back out of the line of fire again. Needs to be micro'd a bit but still really nice.

@@KazeKoichi Thing is though, mages do have tiny health pools, so putting them on a dragon is a big thing since their HP increases a bunch and is good in case of overcast miscasts. And even though they are bigger targets, the incendiary trait basically makes them one of the strongest 'doomstacks' in the game. It does take ages to get them to that point, though.
Im always conflicted on Dragons, I think as a unit they suck, but as a mount they are awesome. I put all lords on dragon mounts if they have one available.

One thing about Runesmiths that i feel is worth pointing out is that they get the Sharpen Weapons action, which gets +10% missile and weapon damage for the army, which is pretty good, also Wardbreaker reduces enemy missile resistance which is very good for a missile heavy army like the Dwarfs
Same with thanes being able to buff irondrakes, ironbreakers and rangers. We don't talk about the hammerer buff skill though.
@@UndeadMongoose301 The Hammerers skill buff is actually ok since it also gives guardian to the Thane, great on one of Belegar's Thanes so the ethereal heroes hit the physical resistance cap.

It's actually +13% (3% base +10% from skill points). It's worth having one of them for Sharpen Weapons and Wardbreaker, because quite a lot of high tier units get 20% missile resist.

Sad part is that's about the only reason to bring them. Who wouldn't choose even eshen magic or nehekara over the new rune system?
Only good part is you can make alot of runesmiths...but thanes and engis so much harder to get in quantity. Usually I fill em in for gun lines as a squishy thane to hold the line...but I lose them sometimes on tough battles.
For Empire I would say that Warrior Priests are S Tier and Witch Hunters are A, with the new Empire Buff you can get 100% success rate all the time with how the lords new skill work, when a warrior priest lord gets level 2 you can instantly increase the capacity for both Witch hunters and Warrior priests with a bonus of +2 untainted PER CHARACTER. This make it so stacking warrior priests in an army 100x easier and makes it so each gun powder army has a better front line. Plus you can wipe out corruption anywhere with just one character by around turn 50+.

I play tomb kings a lot. I know that lich priests are lacking in good lores. The one thing I think that goes overlooked in this guide is their recruitment boosts. Not only for lords but units. With their skill tree you can actually get enough of these quickly, with khatep because he boosts how many you can have and their rank, to actually recruit units at rank 9 in one army. Yes this means having 5 priests in one army all at rank 10, but recruiting army units that take advantage of all red line boosts from your lord is a great boost. Especially since your units need all the help they can get.
You're right. I started a Khatep campaign and refreshed liche priests until I got two with the wise trait. Then gave both of them the skill to recruit with an extra rank of experience. Whenever I fight a battle now, I just combine my chaff and receuit skeleton spears with 7 ranks of experience. Makes the game so much easier.

to be fair, once skaven start building their bells they stop having caster capacity because you get A LOT of bell polishers, which can then be equipped on each and every character therefore boosting your caster capacity without limitation

Ive waited so long for this. Heroes are a bit harder to understand than units. Even after playing every race on legendary oncd i am still not sure which ones are good which arent.
I`d say dwarf's rune priest deserve a mention of their +10% weapon/missile str buff and -10% missile resistance to local enemies skill. I think 1 is a must have in a dwarf stack.
It feels like he could have split S and A tier further up. That would have provided more information. But overall great video. The positions make sense to me. Although those videos are even more about the discussion of each unit than the exact rank. At least that's what I care more for.

I boosted a few wood elf archer hero with the forge of daithe stuff and they could have around 100 ammunition and 2000 damage and with like 3 or 4 of them they can delete all the heros and lords on an army faster than most things

Man, I used to hate the idea of Total War mixing with fantasy but then I realized Warhammer's lore is awesome. Been reading about lords and watching videos about the game and damn, so good! Greenskins are awesome to play, having a lot of fun with Grom or "yer immensity" as we should call him.
When you put them all on a screen together it doesn't actually look like an overwhelming amount. Now, put them all together on a campaign map, and you've got yourselves 5 times the turn time! Great list, there are some heroes I never checked out so I'll be sure to go back after this list.

and the thing is about the eshin sorcerer, even though it is probably the worst hero, in the faction it is meant for, Clan eshin, hes useful there for the shadowy dealings mechanic. so they do have their uses, which like legend said, all of them do
He is actually really good. But skaven is swimming in heroes. You will get access to way more plague/ruin priest than you can use, and plague priest are a must
I mean, you can use them for shadowy dealings, but it's super easy to have your assassin capacity higher than you could ever use, so why bother with eshin sorcerers? And master assassins can do shadowy dealings too, even if they're not on the map. Like, I have a master assassin lord that occasionally takes over when snikch needs to go on a vacation, but the rest of the time, that lord just sits in the recruit pool, carrying out my shadowy dealings and leveling while he's at it

There are 2 things fimir balefiends are really good for. You can use them for a scary stack which is obviously the strongest army norsca can have and is cheaper than mammoth spam and you can use them to increase growth at faction capitals such as Altdorf that take forever to grow and you don't always get the opportunity to occupy them at tier 4. If you notice an incoming attack that the garrison can't handle you can just recruit a lord and put your balefiends in that army and they will usually turn things around for you, since they work well in armies that have lots of infantry like garrisons and their low speed doesn't hinder them as much when defending.

One good thing about blunderbuss engineers are that they boost your melee, making engineers more viable as line-holders. Which works if you're not getting much value out of sniping.

Another couple things thing you didn't really mention about Skink Chiefs; they can assassinate enemy heroes, boost region income and if you level them up, you can have them get vanguard deployment and stalk on a Stegadon, which can be pretty useful (especially in a pompous doomstack).
I think that Empire Captains are pretty useful in armies.
They are (with Bretonnian Paladins) the only type of heroes that can be flying AND shielded. It makes them damn efficient at disrupting the ennemy backline of missile units and artillery without being shot to death in seconds.
The black orc big bosses can wipe out half of a Garrison in one agent action if trained properly. They're also quite effective against armies. Maybe not enough to bump them up a tier, but I think it's worth mentioning
Depends on playstyle, same as you don't see Legend spamming "assault garrison", I just don't like doing it too, it's so stupid it breaks my immersion when playing. It's not 'poison the well' or 'incite riots' as it was in historical total wars and it can't be, since orc big boss can only try to set something on fire and most likely fail at that ^^ I feel like that feature is just not needed to play this game at all.
Do different heroes have different efficiency when assaulting garrison? I used to do this action when starting playing WH2 but stopped because casualties are usually pretty pathetic even with 3 skill points in "Assault Garrison". Never tried with the BOBB though
@@alexeyalexandrov7583 BOBB gets skill unlocks that vastly improve the Assault Garrison/Units agent actions, and an ancillary that boosts them as well. Add these to the trait you get for successfully performing the action enough times and you hit 50% effectiveness. Excellent for taking out those pesky Dwarf and Lizardmen garrisons.

Interesting Beastmen hero fact: both the Wargor and the Gorebull can assassinate, not just wound. I think they might be the only race with two generic assassinators.

Good video. I feel Empire Captains should have their flying mounts taken into consideration. Battlefield mobility is so useful for distracting powerful enemy units and also to focus down on artillery and archers.
The problem is that the empire doesn't face many missile-focused enemies.
One good thing about waystalkers is they can fire while staying hidden-this lets someone pick off important units in an enemy army over time. Having 2 or more in an army speeds up the process of taking down power or scary enemy units. Wood Elf armies are good at hiding in forests so this can be done before the enemy army discovers most of the wood elf army and is distracted by fast moving units like glade riders or other things they can chase for awhile.
Seeing this in my feed, absolutely knew what I was gonna watch over dinner. Time to feast on good food and greater knowledge!

I’d also mention how auto resolve treat these heroes. For example warrior priests in auto resolve commit hari Kari almost every battle.
you know what would be awesome? The addition of a rank 20 skill that is mutually exclusive with immortality. I’m thinking a really strong and cheap spell, or like an all around stat boost with ward save and regen… just like a skill that makes the hero WAY stronger… at the cost of losing the ability to make them immortal. Risk/reward.
I think only Lizardmen would ever take it. Since they can easily buff hero recruitment past level 20.

I think the Liche Priest was too harsh to place in "A" tier. It ncreases lord recruit rank in addition to royal burriel cha,mbers and the Great Incantation of Tahoth, increases unit experience rank in addition to other unit recruit ranks, increase local hero action success chance, decrease that of the enemy's, increase research rate slightly in addition to capturing settlements to maintain quick research times and WoM reserves on top of increases from dynasty research, Knowledgeable and if you take the Sixth Book of Nagash.
If capacity is still a sticking point for people whom aren't happy they are limited, keep in mind by the time you hit the hLiche priest capacity for HQ Khalida or Settra, you shall have access to plentiful constructs from which you may destroy your enemis with if not magic in armies without a wizard.
Tomb Kings have no spellcaster lord but do have access to powerful missile and monster units to offset their limited magic capabilities.
I always feel so pointlessly smug whenever Legend ranks something the way I would. Like, "yeah! I knew that was good! Haha!"

Regardless of how this content was conceived, it answered some of the questions I had when playing my campaigns. I asked for this sort of video in another Tier List and was disregarded by other viewers. Whether Legend had seen similar comments in other videos or not I feel meets some people were asking for and I am grateful for it.
Skinwolves are S tier all day long. crazy good in melee and regen. Strongest no magic doomstack in game. Massive melee attack increasing traits and if you equip them all with good gear they are unstoppable regening and fighting battle after battle

The Eshin sorcerer is actually kind of okay in one scenario: Sieges. So if you break a gate you can use him to blast the enemies away and break through the guaranteed chokepoints. . . Well, shame that the Plague priest clears the chokepoint - but if you're early in as Eshin and don't have the buildings and upkeep to get Plague Priests just yet and you go for a Siege (probably rushing Imrik or Malus) then they have one somewhat decent use. Not like it would save him from D tier, I just think it's worth mentioning that he's not completely useless if you rush a major settlement of the cheating AI.

Giving ammo to Ironbreakers, and even miners with blast charges, is one of my favourites features of the engineer.
I think the werekin deserved S tier, I mean if it's a common doomstack choice then why not?

I got to like 70 capacity for Skaven Sorcerers by turn 100 by simply attaching the bell Polisher in existing heroes, on my first campaign. You start getting these followers once you get your Tier 5 Buildings built, either the Public order one or Sorcerer one.
Great tier list from legend again. Agree with pretty much every ranking and the fact that casters are all ranked so highly (well, most anyway!) currently playing my first ever Dwarfs campaign and I really miss my spell casters! 😬

Vampire Coast spellcasters are not as inconvenient to aquire as the other 2, cause they come from ports, and you tend to get more ports as VC. And they have lore of vampires... so I'd put them on S tier actually.

I can see 1 reason to get Eshin sorcerers and it's a total meme. Essentially just...stacking Cathayan training in a region (and more knowledgeable) because skaven wizards basically don't have a capacity limit thanks to bell polishers. Is it dumb? Yes. Would another stack of plague priests be better? Probably, but they won't be sitting around with a bell to get more polishers.

For high elves, I love stacking heroes with the Honed trait in a single army for the +5 melee attack and defense to spearmen, archers, Lothern Sea Guard etc. and getting a doomstack of shielded LSG with like 80+ melee defense and 55% missile block, making them even tankier than Ironbreakers, with a missile attack and anti-large bonus to boot. So much fun. Only weakness is the lack of AP damage so a checkerboard with LSG at the front and Sisters of Avelorn at the back is unstoppable, really good against high mobility armies like Dark Elves and Beastmen, or missile-heavy armies like Skaven
