Well said carribean40 . This was great music back in the day along with groups like Change, Shallamar , Loose Ends and Shakatak and still is. This was when they actually sung about things that made sense. Unlike all the rappers of today who just sing about guns drugs and drive by killings in their car with 22 inch wheels on while slapping their bitch up. Modern music sucks. The 80's will be around for years unlike the modern rap crap of today. Thanks for posting this great video.
@miseththeymiseththey in the first part of the 1980s (that is to say :when the disease was still newly discovered...).But he was probably not the only one to be gay in that group;there were at least two other members , and also perhaps Larry Blackmon himself tried the homosexual experience . The fact that they were a group from New-York makes it even very probable. Other groups from New-York had a "gay" side to them; like : Strikers, Kool & the Gang, Shalamar...Leee John himself
@miseththeymiseththey ...was raised in New-York City and spent his youth there. But also, -regardless from the fact of being from New-York or not- there were other groups who much probably had gay members, like : Bar-Kays, Earth,Wind & Fire (thinking about Verdine White,especially...but not only), Instant Funk (almost sure!), Switch(member Bobby DeBarge in particular...) and probably even the siblings group Sylvers...to name just a few. This is due to the fact that the 1970s AND 1980s were
I can talk about anything I want to. I like the group and actually think there music should of been bigger here in the US, however Leee John at times makes it very hard to watch them because of his womanly ways, I never said anything about his or the groups talent, I love their music, especially this song.
CHANGES pieseň skupiny IMAGINATION, ktorá bola v UK rebríčku osem týždňov od 11. decembra 1982 a skončila na 31.m. V R and B rebríčku skončila na 46.m. Bola to záverečná skladba albumu IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, ktorý v UK skončil na 7.m. a od BPI získal zlatú platňu. Autormi piesne boli producenti Jollea a Swain a členovia skupiny John a Ingram. Skupina získala v UK za predaj singlov jednu zlatú a dve strieborné platne a za predaj albumov päť zlatých platní.
The main reason why they were'nt as big in the U.S. was not only because of their campy attire/style (which was too much, even for Prince), but also their sound was dated in the U.S.....too simular to Disco. In fact, they made only one American TV apperance and that was Soul Train in 1983 (I have posted one of their performances last year which was this song). This song as well as "Just An Illusion", "This Means War", and "Music and Lights" all made the R&B charts in America.
Disco did not die until 1985, this song was just right for 1982. theirs a thing called Post-disco which was popular around 1980-1984. This group was mainly for the UK.
@ 1980 triumph... why would you have an issue with someone being who they are? thats the problem with the world, always worried about how someone else is living. so what hes prancing like a queen hes expressing himself and there is nothing wrong with that !!! mabye the issue is within YOU !! maybe you wish you were free to prance and envy this man for doing what you wish you could do !!
Thanks for posting. Is this the same "Imagination" who sang "There's Another on Your Mind" in the early 1970's? I know the falsetto singer is Leee John. Three e's.
Does it matter to you really if they r gay or not, they,re still a great group with lots of soul and ten times much better than the crappy stuff thats out now, real vocals, great soulful beat and lyrics, video also has a bit of humor in it as well, please shut up with the gay talk, relax and enjoy the music.
@miseththeymiseththey : to establish my point, but I had to do it, especially because of the : "Maybe its the reason why Imagination wasn't popular over here in the U.S. The R&B music culture of the [...]70's, 80's [...] was so rich then and would of never embrased GAY CULTURE to our children" part of your comment; and also because of @ soulchildacomin's comment ( "The main reason why they were'nt as big in the U.S. was not only because of their campy attire/style..." etc);...I mean : this is
@tamerelaputejelafuck I thought that Cameo's Wayne Cooper was gay, but someone confirmed that he was'nt and but he did died of AIDS (rumors stated that he done heroin and unsterlized needles is a high risk of AIDS) or maybe it was leukemia...I dunno.
@miseththeymiseththey I should like to agree with you; cause I use to think like you... but now I'm not sure of anything... since I learned some new things; like -just as an example- some members in other authentic funk groups whom I discovered WERE really gay; the case I'm talking about is the following : take the 1970s/1980s funk group Cameo; well more than one member were gay; among whom member Wayne Cooper : this one was overtly gay; he even died of AIDS (supposedly...)
@miseththeymiseththey so weird decades that it would not even be surprising...Plus let us not forget that all these people were in the music/entertainement business, which is a very "dirty", and immoral environment, if you see what I mean. Most of 'em, -even if not 100% gay- , might have been tempted to try at least one time the "homosexual experience"...I know what I'm talking, cause I still remember well how "bizarre" those decades were (the 1980s especially...).Sorry for so long a "prose"
dude, I don't support a gay lifestyle its my choice. I also merely made an critical observation about how they portrayed themselves. At times it is very uncomfortable for some people including myself.

Funny, they bought women's jewerly
dude they are buying women jewerly in the video...come on??
yes, but watching a man prance around like a woman is a problem,
The lead singer is super gay, I think the drummer isn't, I believe he has kids but either way they are still a very GAY group.
