I mean, this kinda proves that AI can't do real art or anything that involves genuine creativity, it only combines other creations, so the final product looks *about* right.

I think the holes should be button-holes, because of the prompt "shirt". But they are in the wrong part of the pattern. 😊
Also the A-line miniskirt without connecting: if you search for free miniskirt patterns online, the a-line ones are mostly a wrap design.
The top: back part is longer than the front: most knitting patterns advise to do that when you are making a pullover. But not a crochet top. It was a fun inclusion of a garment-designing basis knowledge, but for the wrong garment.🙃
I still think AI is just a very powerful searching tool. It's on us, how we can use it effectively.
    This was a fun project!

There's this lovely thing called a chainless starting double crochet. You pull up the loop on the hook to the height of a double crochet, hold it in place, go counter clockwise around the loop, then work a double crochet like normal in the first stitch, the two lines of the loop getting treated like one yarn over. There are videos that explain this better than I can with text. It's really amazing, it looks almost the same as a normal double crochet, so it's way neater than using the chains. I've been using it ever since I discovered it, and I think it's sad how few people know about it.

    • @TziporaRaphaella

I was going to belatedly comment the same though I’ve heard it called a “standing double crochet” but same thing and my go to always. And you explained it even better than I did in another comment. It’s fiddly but looks so much nicer, imo. Absolutely my favorite and most used “crochet hack”.

For doing a double crochet or half double crochet, you can do the alternative turning chain. It will make the edging more straight. You would go straight into the first stitch creating a single crochet. Then you would go into the second loop (on the single crochet you just made) pull up a loop and create another single crochet. Thus, looking like a double or half double crochet. I hope this helps! ☺️

    • @jaderade6732
      @jaderade6732 Год назад +8

If anyone wants to look this up I've mainly seen it called a stacked single crochet :)

    • @TziporaRaphaella
      @TziporaRaphaella Год назад +1

There’s also what’s called a standing double (or half double. I especially use this one when working in dc). It’s a bit different and a tiny bit more fiddly than the stacked double crochet and harder for me to explain in writing but if you RUclips search “standing double crochet”. It looks even more like a normal dc and keeps your edges nice and straight. I’m working on both a too and a blanket with dc and using standing doubles for both. It’s an absolute must in my opinion for something like a virus shawl/ blanket. It will keep that sort of pattern looking and lying more even and how it’s meant to.
No chaining at all, you just pull your yarn loop out to the height of a dc twist your hook so it doubles over (this is the fiddly part) and then work it like you would a dc. Like I said, harder to explain but once you see it in action and try it a few times it’s pretty easy.

Very interesting AI experiment. I must say that I am comforted to see that AI is not quite there yet. 😉
When I saw the yarn colour I was not a fan, but when it was worked up it was not that bad. I would frog it, have AI generate another pattern, and read through it to see if similar irregularities show up before hooking it up. The shape of the skirt was quite good so you may have to specify "A-line skirt that measures X amount of inches". This is the first of your videos that I watched and I'm going to subscribe and see if you decide to go any further with the experiment. 🙂

The little holes in the second top pattern remind me of the little holes they have in wrap skirts, dresses, and tops. Because one side of the garment wraps over the other, they leave little holes to thread the ties through. I wonder if that top is meant to have two sets of ties to close the garment, one above the chest, and one below. Though it would still not meet edge to edge. Maybe they were going for a chick cutout look?
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Wonderful video.

I have some kindd of answer for the chain three thing and the double crochet (this is how I learned it so it mightbe wrong)
When you work with chain 2 you just go into your first stitch. However chain three counts as a stitch which is why you then skip the first stitch on every row and later on crochet into the chainspace like into every other stitch)

    Lol.
This is exactly what I expected it to do.
I like to tech edit knit and crochet patterns, and I can say that incorrect stitch counts are one of the most common errors even in human made patterns.
For the edges, there are kind of 2 common ways.
Counting the chain as a stitch, and not counting the chain as a stitch.
The first tends to be a little less wavy AND traditionally uses 3 ch.
The pattern would say something like
Ch3 (counts as DC throughout) sip the first DC, DC across, turn.
When you work the last stitch, it will be in the top of the turning chain, rather then the last DC.
This tends to give the edge a smoother look, but if you have a tight chain, you can see a difference in the edge stitches.
I prefer to not count the chain, but it's personal preference.
I also tend to have tight tension, so I add an extra stitch to my turning chains most of the time, but that also is preference.

Yeah, looking at the design, I would say it's close, sort of, but it's not there yet. For example, on that first top. It would make more sense to either taper the top so that you don't have those corners under your arms, or maybe a criss-cross speghetti strap? I would definitely make the back the front.
On the skirt... don't forget it have you the instruction to fold it down for elastic, that's going to take it up a few inches. I know what I would do for that skirt, and it would utilize your chain 3's. Add buttons down the side and let that be the way you close it. The chain 3s could be your buttonholes. I think it would look cute that way.
As for the second top... it's cute, but yeah, way to small.
Overall, I am completely secure in the thought that AI isn't ready to take over my role of designing/writing patterns.

the holes are obviously glitches... what else did you expect from an AI that you've not already "trained" for that specific task? 😅
also, it's not like we never followed a pattern with poorly written instruction, mistakes, or just some measurement too generic to fit us, is it? 😜
and you can totally make the dress work: you have all you need to make an open back skater dress, you only have to sew all together and add a very long e-cord (way better option than a chain or a braid, much sturdier, much less stretchy).
thread it in the corners of the front as it was an alter neck, then thread each end in the back (I'd work an edge with some evenly spaced loops, but you can just go through the stitches) to have an adjustable crossed lacing
lots of scratchies to Chubs, he looks adorable ❤
