The arrangement and performance of this is so wonderful. She sings the chorus 3 times, and each time it's completely different emotionally. First, she's almost hesitant, like she's not sure if she really wants to remember such a beautiful moment. The next time, it's strong and clear, and she's letting us know that it's not bittersweet- it's full of love. And then the last time, after the buildup of the choir, it's like a clarion call. And yet, she completely pulls back for the last line, "It was the best time of my life..." Because this song is not about the power notes, it's about the emotional connection. Brava.
This song belongs to Linda Eder !!! No other singer should ever even attempt to sing it ! Linda's voice is the most gorgeous voice I've ever heard. I've been lucky enough to see Linda live many many times starting back in 1996. She is as amazing now as she was back then and always so gracious and kind to talk with. A gorgeous lady with a gorgeous voice !
Linda Eder represents,to me, the very best of what a singer is meant to do. The thrill of her voice, the arrangement, & her connection w/song send me every time! Thank you Linda Eder for sharing your talent w/the world. We are all better now! ❤️❤️❤️
This woman has the best technique i have ever heard. Superior to Celine and Whitney, yet she isn't as famous. She is quite possibly one of the best female vocalists that has ever existed.
Saw Linda live in Houston with the symphony and took my sister and brother in law who'd never heard of her. They were stunned at her vocal talent and performance. We actually met her by chance after the concert while grabbing a drink in the bar of the hotel she was staying in. Very gracious and grabbed a snap or two. Never understood her reluctance to command her rightful place as a dova extraordinare.
Not only was Linda's voice in top form (as usual) but did anybody else happen to notice her husband's reaction when she hit that grand note that she hit???!!! It was precious seeing how excited he got. The way he looked at her. It was just beautiful!
Millicent Jones that's actually not her husband but her accompanist after her divorce from Frank Wildhorn. I have seen her live 4 or five times now and she is truly incredible. What a gift.
@TomFritzch Have you seen her tour with guitarist Peter Calo? I love Linda's orchestra-backed belting, but she can really get down with a guitar, too! Peter Calo is an amazing musician, singer....she attracts great people to be in concert with her.
This is my favourite song. Your voice and the words make you believe and view the beauty of the world instead of its darker side! This song is enchanting to me.
I saw you perform for the first time in Jekyll and Hyde in Wilmington, DE before the show opened on Broadway. I hadn’t heard of you before that performance. You took my breath away. I’ve been a fan ever since. Your voice is a gift from God. Thank you for sharing it all these years.
Often compared with Barbra Steisand.....but for me, Linda Eder beats her on every front. Linda tops my list of best singers and my very short list of top 3 singers I MUST SEE LIVE. I saw her, met her...she's a genuinely warm human being, gracious, happy & funny. Treats her fans amazingly well.
@katie @horatio --- she tops my list of 3 singers that I MUST SEE LIVE. And I have. Great concert! A really warm and genuine human being.....got to meet her after the show (she's very generous with her audiences). In these days of mechanically created "singing stars" she has the voice...never AutoTuned.... My #2 on the list (about 20 years younger than Linda) had a terrific show and when I met her, I told her she was my second favorite singer---and she asked "so who is FIRST?" When I told her Linda Eder, a moment of surprise crept across her face, and she said "I'LL TAKE THAT!"
Everybody has said it all she is one of the best singers I have ever ever enjoyed listening to. I had the pleasure of meeting her once and speaking to her and telling her how much joy she has given to so many people and of course to me thank you Linda Eder so very much
She has a great voice, but we have others too.. As Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and even some others. "Great voice ever", is very relative and enthusiastic.
@@ERIKEFU you do have a point and tastes differ....but I'll put it this way: whose recordings do I play most often? Whose recordings do I have the most of? @@ERIKEFU Holy cow. Great voice, yes. But Aretha? She just annoyingly yells and screams, Whitney, yes, Mariah, no depth (or power), and I am so tired of her "five octave voice!" Listen to the best voices that have ever been or ever will be: Dame Shirley Bassey, Mme Ginette Reno, Donna Summer (Listen to her Christmas album or the first Live And More CDs), Vikki Carr, Phyllis Hyman (different kind of voice, but a God-given gift, unlike others) etc. These vocalists are one-of-a-kind. Mind-boggling power, vocal skills, one-of-a-kind style, amazing talent to sing in many languages with the same conviction and style....I could go on for days. Just my two cents.

I saw Judy Garland in concert twice, the first time was three months after Carnegie Hall, and I saw Barbra twice, once at the Blue Angel when she was 21. Linda Eder has more gifts vocally than either of them. Her instrument is so rare and fine. Love this song and she sings it so beautifully. My daughters used this song for a dance they were in when they were young, they loved the song so much. I also get a kick out of her piano player, he really gets into the music.
Every so often one of those very rare, special and one-of-a-kind people come along. I first became aware of Linda from her performance at the 1998 "Women Of Broadway" concert at Carnegie Hall. First of all, I was floored by her range and power and then the flawless quality of her voice. Then there is that magical charisma she brings on with her as she owns the stage and immediately draws you in, taking you on a journey with her with each song. Finally, she made a powerful impact on me as one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. On an ego level, people like this often can't take in the full impact they have on others as they serve as channels for something larger coming through them.
who is this singer? who can weave such a vocal spell? can she be seen and heard and wondered at? she is Marvel, joy personified, her voice reaches the vault of heaven, it nourishes the soul and stirs the heart, rousing us from daily slumber, power and strength, and the artist's subtle touch. thank you, oh poet of song. we are grateful.
I wish it wasn't on her official RUclips because it could get reactions which could make her go viral. I don't think she was thinking clearly. Lara Fabian actually became more popular in America from RUclips reactions to her songs than her original release

Watching the rain fall in Vienna
Pictures of another time
From the corner of a small cafe
We watched the world go by
Now we sit here the best of strangers
We played the game for all it's worth
Endless nights in Vienna's eyes
Take me back again
'Cause in Vienna- we were poetry
Yes, in Vienna- love was alive
Watching you watching me
All that our eyes could see
All of the nights
We chased into the dawn
It was the best time of my life
We can't surrender to a feeling
That dance belongs to yesterday
Yet, I still hear Vienna's song
Take me back again 'Cause in Vienna- we were poetry
Yes, in Vienna- love was alive
Watching you watching me
All that our eyes could see
All of the nights
We chased into the dawn
It was the best time of my life

My God! Everything about her is beautiful.
Love this song, was fortunate to hear her sing it live years ago.
We have all her albums- and had the privilege to see her at the Schubert theatre from amazing seats.
What a performer
Linda your incredible! Thank you Tony for introducing her music and talent to me!
It's Wow.. What a stupendous performance!!!
She's on perfect pitch whether belting out a phrase or whispering it.... and her breath control is as perfect as can be...
I wish I was old enough to see her 1999 concert. Ah, why do bad things happen to good people? :)
Love love love. Perfection.
