- The DJI FOCUS PRO is a Lidar + Motor system that allows you to Autofocus / focus pull manual focus lenses. I filmed an entired wedding using the DJI FOCUS PRO and DJI RS4 PRO Gimbal with a Sirui Saturn 50mm t/2.9 Anamorphic lens using the autofocus. In this video I go through some of the issues I had using the DJI FOCUS PRO with the DJI RS4 PRO gimbal. My biggiest issue was the ACTIVE TRACKING of the DJI RS4 PRO and the inability to disable it when not needed. I also discuss the added costs of having the DJI FOCUS PRO, such as increasing battery life as well as rigging your camera with a cage to mount everything.
I also recommend the Portkeys LH7P 7" Monitor to pair with your Sony FX3 or other Sony Camera for the size and weight as well as the camera controls on the monitor itself.

Just a quick not about the handle mount blocking my HDMI output on my Sony FX3, it blocks the door cover of the HDMI from opening. You can remove the HDMI door but I don't want to (for when I am not using it, I would like the door to cover the Output.
In fact, active tracking can be closed, and on the rs 4 pro you can just use lidar af without it.
You cant use flex spot focus without it
Note to self...DON"T LOOK at Vu's videos at work! I just laughed so loud during the opening that everyone around is looking at me like I need to be in padded room.

yeah I agree abut the flex mode green box on subjects issue. Wish dji added an option to change that options in the gimbal. this was still on the original lidar and rs3 pro.

lol this video is great, love your style of reviewing! I had a quick question, since you're able to power the focus pro via V-mount/external battery. If plugged in externally, does it still work without the grip attached? Would be awesome to attach it to the Tilta Ring grip to use as follow focus, it would be much smaller without DJI's battery grip attached.
You need the grip.

Once you've triggered the DJI Pro Grip's AMF to lock focus, is there a method to switch the locked focus to another face, or is this only available with AF mode?

Do you suggest the pd movie lidar for easier setup from handheld to a gimbal. Since the LiDAR and focus motor is built into one. Both system can purchase b&H with 6 or 12 months to pay

ha, i bought the lidar AF specifically FOR its tracking capability with the gimbal. but you have a point regarding control. seems like they need to turn something like the M button into a active tracing disable, or maybe a trigger hold. i have yet to receive my lidar part, but just have rs4pro gimbal right now and there is the trigger hold to enable gimbal locking mode. would that override the lidar tracking? seems the gimbal works a little different with lidar in the system though. great video tho, subbed now.
