Lifelong Michigan fan here who has lived in northern Bama and has attended HS Football gamesmanship. Man, let me tell you…it is a little different. Faster, bigger, stronger…before strength coaches. Go Blue 4 ever; but this is a tougher challenge than M fans can conceivably imagine.
One dimensional…pot calling the kettle black. What dimension is that? Because, Alabama has won running the ball and by passing the ball. Michigan might win, but it’s if Michigan can keep pressure on Milroe and utilize their TE consistently in the middle of the field.
I've been a Michigan fan for 5 decades. I can't recall any single game that I so deeply wanted them to win more than this one. So much at stake. SEC vs Big 10, conclusively proving Connor Stalion's stupid scouting network made no difference, a chance to finally win another Natty, shutting up all the media talking heads. This game will also have a huge impact on recruiting. The Wolverines are seen nationally as a very good team that can get there but always plays poorly and loses. Slaying the Alabama dragon on the biggest stage would change that regardless of the outcome in the title game.
If you are an honest person you will have to admit that Bama has the better recruits. Also bama has more speed. Bama has the better WRs. And Bama has the better D. Who would you put in as a starter, McCarthy or Milroe? RTR.

You had a great point. Whoever wins or loses this game, both teams had great seasons with a conference championship and nothing will take that away way from them.

None of those teams were as good as this one. Bowl games don't mean jack if you don't beat your rival. Who cares about a bowl game if you lose to OSU. Beating OSU and going undefeated in the Big 10 is far more important. Done that 3 years in a row. That's what's up. Winning a playoff game or two would be cool but cannot compare to beating OSU. That's the true Championship game.
Alabama is going to stack the box, play man-to-man coverage and make JJ beat them with his arm. If Michigan thinks they are going to win by running the ball and kicking field goals then we are screwed.

You hit the nail on the head right there, my friend. Watching the SEC championship game showed that the Bama lines are very good. You know who else had all day to throw? The Iowa qb in the Big 10 championship game. That had best be figured out, or it may be a long night. Milroe will just sit back and wait for a guy to get open. You can't cover a guy forever, and the Alabama receivers kept working to get open from what I seen. Remember that iron bowl winner? Yeah, 9 guys in coverage, and Milroe still dropped that ball in there.

I think people are not talking enough about the fact that Georgia doesn’t have an elite defensive line this year, which is why Bama could run on them and stand all day in the pocket
One more thing you're right this is not a vintage Alabama team but a way more dangerous hungrier version. Usually we stroll into the playoffs without any adversity. Look Michigan is very good but I would not underestimate Alabama. In particular this kind of matchup does not favor a physical Big ten team. Look at what we did to UGA completely dominated in the trenches.
Bama will thunderf*ck our offensive line especially with Zinter out. Our line struggles against average competition. They'll run on us because they have 3:or 4 OL at 350 lbs or more. Milroe isn't beating us with passing, but it will be enough to keep us honest so they can gash us with run. Half our schedule had offensive units ranked in the bottom 30.
What you really need to worry about is the deep ball. Milroe threw at least one 30+ yard Touchdown pass in every game this season except against Georgia, who have an elite secondary and specifically were scheming to prevent that.
I feel uncomfortably confident going into this game. Michigans offense has "struggled" late in the season. however, they just went up against 3 of the top 5 defenses in the past 4 games. what sticks out to me is that jj didn't throw 1 int during that run. the offense didn't force anything. I think it will start off close. halftime 10-14. as the game goes on, I think bama will rely too much on milroe running the ball, and he will make a couple of costly mistakes that will decide the game. I think michigan wins 31-24.

First time listening to your podcast and I honestly liked it. Now I can give you some insight into the Arkansas game, Bama was up big, had a few minor injuries and let off the gas and Arkansas came back, those Hogs always plays Bama tough. You didn’t mention that Georgia had to score a late TD to beat Auburn just like Bama did, there’s a reason why we call Auburn’s stadium (Jordon-Hare) The Voodoo Palace, because whenever Georgia or Alabama plays down there it’s always, always some crazy sh?t that happens, usually for Auburn but not this season. Alabama fan here and I think we are gonna win but that doesn’t mean I don’t believe Michigan can’t beat Alabama because they can but better kiss their girl goodbye suit up and play the game of their lives because you better believe Nick Saban will have the Crimson Tide ready to play some football. Thank you for this, as a bama fan, all I have heard is "Bama's better at this, Bama's better at that" without telling me anything about Michigan. I've sadly only caught the last 4 Michigan games of the season so I really haven't seen them at their best so I appreciate you laying out the advantages they have because I want to know what Michigan can do and do better and why the moneymakers still favor them.
As a Wolverine I’m concerned about a couple things. First of all, Nick Saban is the greatest coach ever in college football, his team will be totally ready. We on the other hand, have a terrible bowl record historically, and just don’t seem to be ready with a month to prepare, to be ready to play. Huge advantage Saban over Harbaugh. Turnovers by J.J also could be our downfall. On the plus side, we have Corum back this year. J.J. wins this game or loses it for us. I just have a hard time believing we can win a huge bowl game until I see it. I don’t bet, but if I did my money would be on Bama too, hope I’m wrong
Saban is great. Remember when a much weaker Michigan team hung with them 3 quarters in 2020? Michigan defense wasn’t nearly as good. And our offense was only power run. We are well rounded now.

If you're bringing up Auburn, that is a mistake. As a Bama fan who despises Auburn, they always give us a close game when we play them on the road. Some of our best teams that we have had either lost or had a close game against them. Auburn could have zero wins and play us like they are undefeated. We are really unpredictable this season, and the game could go either way, but I would advise against using Auburn as an example

They were also able to pressure and get to beck who’s a decently mobile QB pretty well!!! And its defensive line handled georgias offensive line extremely well! As far as milroe goes yes he’s a better runner than passer! But throughout tho season I’ve seen him hit several third down conversions with mid range passes over the middle hitting receiver in stride!! I think he has improved tremendously in that regard especially trying to go through his progressions !! His touchdown pass to Burton against Georgia was that kid of pass!! I feel like these criticisms of Milroe and game plan for stopping him were true games 1-5! I’m not sure that’s really the case anymore!! If he has a good game and don’t turn the ball over I think he’s much more of a problem through the air then deace wants to give him credit for!!

Yeah but historically they are 8-9 vs SEC in bowl games and 2-3 vs Alabama. Recently they haven't had much success but that's about to change

Bama will thunderf*ck our offensive line especially with Zinter out. Our line struggles against average competition. They'll run on us because they have 3:or 4 OL at 350 lbs or more. Milroe isn't beating us with passing, but it will be enough to keep us honest so they can gash us with run. Half our schedule had offensive units ranked in the bottom 30.
Not going to happen, don't underestimate Michigan.
What you really need to worry about is the deep ball. Milroe threw at least one 30+ yard Touchdown pass in every game this season except against Georgia, who have an elite secondary and specifically were scheming to prevent that.

I feel uncomfortably confident going into this game. Michigans offense has "struggled" late in the season. however, they just went up against 3 of the top 5 defenses in the past 4 games. what sticks out to me is that jj didn't throw 1 int during that run. the offense didn't force anything.
I think it will start off close. halftime 10-14. as the game goes on, I think bama will rely too much on milroe running the ball, and he will make a couple of costly mistakes that will decide the game. I think michigan wins 31-24.

As a Wolverine I’m concerned about a couple things. First of all, Nick Saban is the greatest coach ever in college football, his team will be totally ready. We on the other hand, have a terrible bowl record historically, and just don’t seem to be ready with a month to prepare, to be ready to play. Huge advantage Saban over Harbaugh. Turnovers by J.J also could be our downfall. On the plus side, we have Corum back this year. J.J. wins this game or loses it for us. I just have a hard time believing we can win a huge bowl game until I see it. I don’t bet, but if I did my money would be on Bama too, hope I’m wrong

If you're bringing up Auburn, that is a mistake. As a Bama fan who despises Auburn, they always give us a close game when we play them on the road. Some of our best teams that we have had either lost or had a close game against them. Auburn could have zero wins and play us like they are undefeated. We are really unpredictable this season, and the game could go either way, but I would advise against using Auburn as an example

As far as milroe goes yes he’s a better runner than passer! But throughout tho season I’ve seen him hit several third down conversions with mid range passes over the middle hitting receiver in stride!! I think he has improved tremendously in that regard especially trying to go through his progressions
