Thanks! The new Bachmann Thomas set is out soon or there are plenty of Hornby Thomas sets available second hand (probably even some new ones out there somewhere).
This looks more like a mid 90s train set judging by the controller and they have included the diesel sound unit and not the steam one which also happened to me in a train set I got for Christmas in the 90s
You may well be right. I have my doubts about the age too now. There was a version going on ebay from 1985 recently (confirmed by the date stamp on the instructions) and it looked similar to this except the tray was polystyrene and Thomas had the creepy clown face. So I suspect that this is closer to 90s. Given how many sets they produced there is a real lack of information about these and how they evolved over 30 years. I really wanted an original '85 set too 😫 Love the 80s.
@@LittleWicketRailway Yeah the creep clown face is the first version which was more based on the RWS books than the TV show, it looks like this set is from the 80s as the controller is older and it looks like it has the second type of face with the one you have being the third www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-The-World-of-Thomas-The-Tank-Engine-Electric-Train-Set/233800430163?hash=item366f977253:g:ylUAAOSwGMtfwoeI
I managed to get an older version of the set that does have a Thomas with the creepy grey clown face. So I don't think the set in this video is an original first release from 1985.
Wow, my first train set. Love how yours is in better condition now than mine was in the 90's.
Getting my first Thomas the Tank Engine train set in my 30s was a bit odd 😂 Better late than never!
The wagons look beautiful, and so do the coaches.
It's a nice set 👍
I have a vague memory of seeing that old Hornby Thomas the Tank Engine train set in a shop window when I lived in England as a child.
This is awesome, I won this set in a bidding for a good place on eBay in 2020.
Great review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! 👍
Dude that’s a hell of an item
I love the hornby Thomas your so lucky to have this I want it sooooo bad!
You did a really great Hornby Thomas unboxing videos I hope you do the roller and you did great 👍👏😊🤗☺️😌🙌✅
Thanks Jose! 👍
This is an awesome review that you have made! I’m really inclined to get some Thomas model trains for Christmas!

@@LittleWicketRailway yes I will mainly look out for Hornby since it seems Bachmann are mainly focusing on their G-scale Thomas line at the moment!
the earlier faces for thomas were based on the railway series illustrations by reginald dalby
Just googled it, they're actually pretty accurate if a bit scary.

Definitely 1990's, the controller and the sound box are the give away that it's not the 1980's
5:48 everyone, please, what this name of this song???
I had this set. Was my first in late 80s. Regret selling it.
It's a classic set.
My first set was the percy set from the 80s
I think this is from where they came with the cardboard scenery and people
Awesome dude
Cheers, much appreciated 👍
The thomas on the box might be the pilot model

Fun fact: the character of thomas was originally going to be based on an LNER J50, but was changed by an rws illustrator to an LBSCR E2
Thanks for the fact! Maybe LBSCR E2s are easier to draw 😂
Nice!
Thanks! 👍
Hm nice
How much did you buy it and where?
This was an Ebay buy and I think it was around £70.
I like your reviews, I think I will Subscribe you ;)
