Nathan first of all I totally appreciate you taking the high ground. It is how the process works best. As for a new tractor, how do you figure in features like a 3 point hitche's mpact on future trade in value.
We hit a point where our use of equipment would completely wears it out in 3-4 years. When we migrated from 20-30 yr old equipment to pampered used machinery, it became too hard to find it, and it started getting very expensive in its own right. We started essentially remanufacturing some machinery every winter. That turned in to a game of whack a mole. We started leasing all new tractors and combines every year. I would love to put 200-300 hours per year on everything, and get 10-20 yrs out of it. Leasing is the next best thing, since we put 800-900 hours on per year. The next user gets what was the latest and greatest last year, it just happens to have 3-4 years worth of use on it. But it will serve them for many years loyally. The secret is pick equipment the next user will want. 500 horse tractors and class 8 combines. That’s what fits most operations. I do have a shed full of really good older equipment that I held on to, should there be a strike, or supply chain interruption. I always did that, even before 2020. It’s not worth anything, until it is, and when it is, it’s pure gold.
We priced a used 2023 620 Quadtrac with 500 Hours on it a couple months ago and it would cost us 300k to trade our 2014 600 Quadtrac in with only 2100 Hrs on it. So long story short we are sticking with the 600.
I know you guys like the green but if you ever consider going different color I would consider red. I really like the green also I don’t farm but I help some brothers that do farm and they went to red quads and I absolutely enjoy running them. The throttle with all the controls on it is awesome. If I was farming I definitely would have the red tractors.
It might not be a bad idea to at least get the PTO option on a new articulate. It's cheaper from the factory and with the size of the new grain carts nowadays. It might help with resale, or even if you got a muddy fall, you could use the large tractor on the cart.
diesel particulate filters (DPFs) can be cleaned by baking them in an oven, a process known as thermal cleaning or "bake and blow": Inspect and benchmark: The filter is inspected and benchmarked. Blowout: Loose materials are removed from the filter. Bake: The filter is baked in an oven at high temperatures to oxidize soot and loosen contaminants. Cool: The filter is allowed to cool. Pulse clean and blow: Air is used to blow out any remaining ash. Inspect and benchmark again: The filter is inspected and benchmarked again to determine the effectiveness of the cleaning. The filter may need to be baked again if it hasn't been serviced in a while. The specific firing schedule depends on the DPF manufacturer, its condition, and the desired level of cleaning. It's important to consult the DPF manufacturer's guidelines for the safest and most accurate procedures. Cleaning a DPF helps a vehicle run cleaner and more efficiently, which can save money on maintenance and downtime.
You should get ahold of Pittsburgh power they got a product that burns the soot off so you don’t plug your exhaust system it’s called max mileage I I use it on my semi truck and I’ve had way less problems with after treatment problems it works good
I respectfully disagree with your comments on deleting emissions simply because these standards are in fact not “Law” passed by congress. Rather they are policy created by EPA (and other agencies I’m sure) and enforced unconstitutionally by law enforcement, fines, and etc. The supreme court even ruled recently on “Chevron Deference” addressing this and various other “policy as law” type issues! Also sometimes you can choose not to follow rules you disagree with and still be moral… our founders even thought it was your duty as an American to stand against government overreach!
Could / would you consider hiring / renting a large tractor for Autumn tillage as this would release capital value and avoid annual substantial depreciation costs and possibly repair / maintenance costs?
I have always struggled with finding the balance of just running its wheels off versus trading while it still has value. I tend to hang on to equipment and even value older stuff more for tillage work. Someone somewhere will buy a new 9rx 830 to pull a field cultivator my 10 year old tractor pulls
now just do the smart thing and lease that exact model every year for way less, as well as have warrenty on it for the whole year. then trade and repeat.
Finished last sunday chiseling disked milo stalks, picked up new farm they let me work it started on it tuesday finished it yesterday, retailer got more nh3 done done us yesterday, as well east central il
Didn’t know their was sorghum grown up there…we always grew it on new farms or behind cotton or red chiles seemed to put more organic matter back in the soil then corn 🤷🏻♂️
@justinhaas6390 we grow it for deer in place of corn they won't bother it nothing like corn. I started it now several are growing it 2 more guys going to do it this year. Brings a premium to corn
By my simple math if you trade it for a tractor thats $400000 more and you get 4000 hours out of it running the disk ripper it would cost about $7 per acre just for the tractor at 15ish acres per hour
Most people don't know the tax implications of buying a tractor, just a thought. I commend you for not circumventing emissions systems and here's hoping that (with the new Supreme Court "Chevron" ruling) the government will "ease up" just a little to let the technology catch up.
A happy thanksgiving to you and all of your family sir . PS. You are right all equipment brands can have problems and all of the new are very expensive . I think the DEF is nothing but another way to tax farmers and people who have newer equipment or vehcles that run on diesel .
There Are people who can put that filter in a heater Or furnace and cook it to clean. It basically does like the ultimate cleaning and you'll get it back. It won't be like new but it will eliminate a lot of your problems or should. Obviously if you have to read Jen every 6 hours, your filter has. Hope you and your family share a wonderful Thanksgiving day and dinner. Do you have turkey or something else? I was listening to Jessie Kelley and he made a comment about have Prime Rib for change.... God Bless You and Your Family
Compare a Versatile. Cheap HP and all the weight built in, you could ever need. Not to say, that I think you should get a new tractor. Just suggesting there are other options. Then the main 3.
We run 4 9RX640s,4 645 Quad Tracks,4 9R 620s on triple tires,a pair of 8RX 410s for planting, looking forward to running the 9RX 830 next season,we put half down in the spring and pay the other half in the fall it seems to work out pretty well for our operation have a wonderful day
Why not go with a lightly used 9520r or 9570r instead of balls to the walls on a brand new one? Just how you normally do it? Just curious! We buy lightly used new tractors and tune them
It’s a problem when you get closer to cities but in the more rural areas everyone knows it’d be too easy to disappear if you were caught doing something like that
What does "renewable licences" mean. I think I understand, but it makes no sense that they would sell you software licenses that CANNOT be upgraded. If that is what you get and you need to upgrade the licenses, do you have to pay the full initial price?
It's for advanced AMS products. Things like AutoPath, Machine Sync, etc. Basic Autosteer is included but if you want to use the advanced things they require a subscription. You can buy either a 1 or 3 year
Buy a second tractor like you have for a spare for the $150k to $200k. Makes better sense. Half the price of trading. Should be able to keep one running at a time. There’s no guarantee the new will work any better.
I’ve seen the millennial farmers 2730 has each disk on its own separate gang vs yours has 4-5 disks per gang. Is that something that you order as an option when you purchase it? Or is a difference in age in the rippers?
That was a excellent video. How you farmers make a living is unreal. I have said before farming has never made sense. John Deere should be ashamed to ask that for a tractor. Their tractors are not that reliable anymore. Their has been 3 or 4 guys on RUclips that have had rods go through the block.
i checked into deleting that on my 2018 duramax, and it would cost me$7500 canadian, and then i can’t ever sell that back to a dealership, without putting it back on. not worth the cost, 😅
Now Y’all know why farmers have turned towards leasing their equipment.. they buy the hours they use rather than the resale value of equipment.. It’s a horrible position to take but the cost of new equipment in relation to the return on the commodity’s grown has become so out of whack most don’t have the luxury of buying $600/1 million dollar tractors.. Farmers have become nothing more than share croppers for banks, equipment manufacturers and State&federal governments 😢
Thanks for the pricing and configuration info on tractors. I know nothing about purchasing them. But based on most things, you can normally buy a non leading brand unit for about 10% less than the leading brand.
As far as emissions go, I wouldn’t think less of you if you deleted it. But finding someone willing to do it right now would be impossible. Plus, you put yourself in the public eye. Someone will be keen enough to spot it, and be a “Karen.”
Tax write-off just means you spent a trainload of money (say 750,000) and don't have to pay any taxes on 75,000. (It's been a while, just a guess.) (equipment is depreciated according to what IRS deems to be the "life" of the equipment). I would guess in this case, 10 years, but then again, it could be as much as 30 years.
Ha!🤣Earth has dealt with catastrophic events 10,000 times worse than anything we humans could ever dream of throwing at it. We don’t have the power to destroy this planet
Nathan thats a cop out...what they were. Hell I was in high school in 1990 you could buy a tank of gas, a value meal and still have a cpl dollars left over. You do grasp a trade war with mexico, china, europe, japan will raise prices because tarrifs and paid for by the consumer plus tge percentage the retailer adds on top.. To say what prices WERE is a admition that you do not grasp reality wich is today very seldom will prices go down once they are raised.... With US being largest producer of oil for what 6 years now have you seen fuel prices drop accourdingly? No.
Hear is another example. Most tamatoes and avacodoes are imported from mexico. 25% tarrif put in place every item using tomayoes is going up 25% in price...How much is that hambutger going up, how much is pizza sauce, ketchup, ect... Do you think mcdonalds is eating the cost, dominoes pizza, pizza hut, burger king...everything is going up. What about grocery stores, are they suppose to eat the price hike of 25%, no they will raise it 30 or 35% for everything that includes tomatoes used in that product.....Look ehat walmart ceo said this week about tarrifs, surprise everything is going up. All of us know 1 grocery store or any company raises prices all the rest will too...
I'm not going to debate trade policy in my RUclips comments. My only point was that prices have gone up under the current administration. You can’t say the new guy is going to make prices go higher while ignoring the fact that the current guy made prices go high too and arguably at a faster rate than the previous administration did.
I applaud you for taking "the higher moral ground". I know it doesn't come without cost, but it shows an honorable man.
Nathan first of all I totally appreciate you taking the high ground. It is how the process works best.
As for a new tractor, how do you figure in features like a 3 point hitche's mpact on future trade in value.
If you got a shop and dont mind wrenching a little, late model pre- emission equipment and trucks are one way not to have emission problems;)
Hope your dad is feeling better
100% correct Nathan... don't discontinue anything

Respect you.

A couple of maintenance organizations that were/are deleting portions of the emissions control equipment on trucks were just fined VERY large fines
cool...i love my emissions ..best repair money i spend..and down time so you have a break from work
Hi / You have good videos / when you checked oil on tractor looks like you need a change ?
diesel particulate filters (DPFs) can be cleaned by baking them in an oven, a process known as thermal cleaning or "bake and blow":

My neighbor runs 1 Big Bud, 2 Steiger Tigers, and 1 Cat single track!
Hi Nathan, is there not an fuel additive that could help with your problem?
Thanks Nathan tractors are expensive. Happy thanksgiving to you all
Need to go red if you go quadtrac. We were all green until we tried the red quad.
Good morning, I finally have internet service after the Northwest cyclone that hit a week ago.
Great content! Take care and be safe....
yea it seems that all machinery corporates just have jacked up all prices- that is why we are using what we have
Did you see a difference in yield where you ran the ripper with the demo 640RX last fall and went deeper than you run it with your tractor?
Nathan, did your grass come up along the driveway? How is the winter wheat doing?
The grass isn't growing yet. Too cold now going to have to wiat until spring
Happy thanksgiving!🦃🦃
How many sets of tires in 4000 hours?
Still on original tires
You should get ahold of Pittsburgh power they got a product that burns the soot off so you don’t plug your exhaust system it’s called max mileage I I use it on my semi truck and I’ve had way less problems with after treatment problems it works good

now just do the smart thing and lease that exact model every year for way less, as well as have warrenty on it for the whole year. then trade and repeat.
NO PTO 😂 grain cart backup??? DRIVE ON GOOD MAN!! Thanks sir!
A 2023 Case IH steiger 620 quad track with 290 hrs cost 685,200 dollars.
Would be nice if Deere put some lights facing backwards on their implements
Congrats to finished on tillage. How much does a boss fuel trailer run these days. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Depends on the size and options but I'd guess anywhere from $10-30,000
*next year a video has a big tracked machine as a thumbnail* 😉
I’ve hear some dealerships won’t even work on the equipment if the emissions are deleted.
It’s not that they won’t work on equipment with deleted emissions equipment it’s that it’s illegal for them to do so.
Finished last sunday chiseling disked milo stalks, picked up new farm they let me work it started on it tuesday finished it yesterday, retailer got more nh3 done done us yesterday, as well east central il

Haha welll played
Most people don't know the tax implications of buying a tractor, just a thought. I commend you for not circumventing emissions systems and here's hoping that (with the new Supreme Court "Chevron" ruling) the government will "ease up" just a little to let the technology catch up.
It's fine
may need to put a rock box on the implement
IF you deleted the exhaust filter etc.. what would that do to the value of the tractor?
Depends on the buyer. Personally I wouldn't touch one so it makes it worth way less to me. Someone else might pay a premium for one.
A dealer probable won't work on a Deleted tractor either, I know big semi trucks that are deleted aren't even allowed on the property!
@markpontes4457 Oh, they never break down once deleted, do they? 🤣
A happy thanksgiving to you and all of your family sir .

Not to say, that I think you should get a new tractor. Just suggesting there are other options. Then the main 3.
2:20 here , I’m taking a nap lol 😂
I would buy more dirt before a new tractor !!!
We run 4 9RX640s,4 645 Quad Tracks,4 9R 620s on triple tires,a pair of 8RX 410s for planting, looking forward to running the 9RX 830 next season,we put half down in the spring and pay the other half in the fall it seems to work out pretty well for our operation have a wonderful day
You also need 20k acres to afford that though lol
@AustinMatthiesen we farm 45,000 acres in an 80 square mile radius
@George-k4e3j exactly, that's insane, office workers keep it in line?
@AustinMatthiesen it's a pretty cool job I wouldn't trade it for anything
Wow that’s some serious acreage! Roughly what part of the country is y’all’s farm?
Thought you had a "rock box" on the front of your tractor to put rocks you had to deal with in. Till you got to where you wanted to dispose of them.
Why not go with a lightly used 9520r or 9570r instead of balls to the walls on a brand new one? Just how you normally do it? Just curious! We buy lightly used new tractors and tune them
I did say that was also an option. Still expensive but more reasonable
@BorderViewFarms didn't make it all the way through when I commented that haha, my bad, due time we will find out!
We just put a new motor in our 9510R. $90,000 for a new motor.
Remember the 8630 burned a tank every 10 hours . And you had better have fuel in sight at the 10 hour mark .
Do you ever b afraid the fuel get nicked out of the tractors?Happy Thanksgiving too you all.Greetings from Ireland.👏👏👏🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌽🚜🚜🚜🚜☘️🇮🇪
It’s a problem when you get closer to cities but in the more rural areas everyone knows it’d be too easy to disappear if you were caught doing something like that
Maybe your dad and uncle will get you a new tractor for Christmas this year..you got a 360 last year

Just a little outside petty cash. 😂

Yes it's an option.
The individual are better for rocks and wetter conditions but don’t do as good as job as the gang imo at least lol
That was a excellent video. How you farmers make a living is unreal. I have said before farming has never made sense. John Deere should be ashamed to ask that for a tractor. Their tractors are not that reliable anymore. Their has been 3 or 4 guys on RUclips that have had rods go through the block.
They just changed the laws in Australia to make the emissions delete illegal as well a buisness near me closed up as that was 90% of their work
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Slow but at least your removing rocks LOL
i checked into deleting that on my 2018 duramax, and it would cost me$7500 canadian, and then i can’t ever sell that back to a dealership, without putting it back on. not worth the cost, 😅

Good morning
Time to stop buying green
🇨🇦👍
Thanks for the pricing and configuration info on tractors. I know nothing about purchasing them. But based on most things, you can normally buy a non leading brand unit for about 10% less than the leading brand.
Cheaper is never actually cheaper.. it’s a simple equation but you already admitted you know nothing about the subject so I’ll just leave it at that..
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE !!!
To bad your other dealers don’t have better service
Well guessing your not to the point of needing to rebuild the engine
700k for a Mexican tractor 😂
Should study the facts before you make a comment like that. Only certain models built there. If any yet. Mostly implements.
You have no idea what you’re talking about
Those prices are ridiculous!! No wonder JD is laying people off. Wishing you all a happy and prosperous Thanksgiving from Oklahoma.
As far as emissions go, I wouldn’t think less of you if you deleted it. But finding someone willing to do it right now would be impossible. Plus, you put yourself in the public eye. Someone will be keen enough to spot it, and be a “Karen.”
Good tax writeoff
Tax write-off just means you spent a trainload of money (say 750,000) and don't have to pay any taxes on 75,000. (It's been a while, just a guess.) (equipment is depreciated according to what IRS deems to be the "life" of the equipment). I would guess in this case, 10 years, but then again, it could be as much as 30 years.
Get a real quad track. Green ones are nothing but wannabes
Lease it
Fix that tractor.
Stick with your John Deere's. Nothing runs like a Deere. If it ain't green... It ain't mean!!!
you should agree with the emissions rules. they exist for a reason. the planet is dying...because of emissions. people need to grow tf up
THE PLANET IS DYING, GRETA?
Ha!🤣Earth has dealt with catastrophic events 10,000 times worse than anything we humans could ever dream of throwing at it. We don’t have the power to destroy this planet

Ah blatant racism boasted proudly
Good morning
