How wonderful!! Have fun!- don’t forget to take plenty of loose paper - I only took 4 pieces and it was the very thing I felt I wanted to use!- Also acrylic is messy and ruins your brushes but gouache is easier especially when camping- it also washes out easily ( acrylic spoils your clothes)
Very helpful Liz! Thanks for always generously sharing your experience and talents. I’m currently working through your sketchbook course and it’s fantastic ❤.
Love to see these prep for trip videos…….surprised I haven’t seen people posting their videos preparing for the USK symposium in Auckland. Loved the black and white scribble collage paper done with a calligraphy pen. Have a wonderful trip! 🥰
It's so difficult deciding what to take on a trip, I think you have covered everything one might need without going to excess. I look forward to seeing what you create, have a lovely trip and a happy Easter.
Thank you for sharing your art supplies travel kit most helpful. I am in the middle of deciding what to take on my camper trip to Devon next week difficult decisions. Your advice to take one set of supplies for the day out and not take everything is really good and I most certainly will follow it. I tend to take far too much out with me just in case ! Happy Easter.
This was very helpful - but for me who doesn't have a car and goes out only on foot, I will use your kit as a guide, but would need to scale down considerably. This is always such a dilemma for me, deciding what to take. I think I spend too much time trying to decide what to take. Any suggestions? Thanks so much
Hi Judy If going on foot I’d stick to one approach or two at the most when out so as to minimise the things you need. All the mixed media to fit in one container ( as I have) but then not the same variety. I describe using this whole kit then decanting from it for going out on a specific day. In your case the whole kit is at your home environment and when you go out just one or two options Eg mixed media on A3 paper; pastels ( soft and oil) on paper etc.
@@LizAckerley I will try it. I have a box labeled "Travel/plein air supplies" but I think even that is too disorganized. I am going to tackle a re-organization of it and see what I can come up with. Thanks again. BTW... it is so funny. I was actually thinking of emailing you to ask for help in planning supplies for plein air and then you posted this video!
Hi Liz, thanks for the video. I didn’t notice your painting board in your rucksack. Do you just have to carry that in your hand? I noticed it had a handle on it. I could do with something similar, can you recommend any? I’ve just watched all the videos in your making your Mark course. Just need to get out and do some painting now! Fortunately looks like the weather is going to be a bit better for the next week or so so hoping to get out and do some. Thanks again. x
Hi Maria- if you saw at the beginning of the video when I talked about the paper I talked about a carry folder - available from all good art shops including online- why not check out SeaWhite of Brighton? Don’t forget to rewatch the videos before you go! X
@@LizAckerley Ok thanks for that Liz. I was going to go out this aft but it looked like it was gonna rain so instead I sorted out my rucksack and painting kit. I’ve got some small cheap bottles of acrylics, a few woodies, a few inktense pencils, some charcoal, the small box of unison landscape pastels and various brushes and other tools. So now I’m all set. 😀 Just need to pluck up the courage to go out and do it now. I’ve done it before but I’ve lost my confidence and I worry that whatever I do will be rubbish! I guess that’s the perfectionist in me procrastinating! 😕 x
@@Mariafay_art that’s brilliant that you have a great kit organised. I suggest that you reframe it as going out to have some fun and play. The not good enough voice is your logical brain trying to deter you from starting. Don’t let it derail you- your creative self wants to do it . Try not to define things as good or bad- perhaps think of it as going out to experience nature/ the landscape and have some fun. Try to enjoy the stage you are at. Perfectionism is never helpful! 😊
@@LizAckerley Thanks for that Liz. I’ll try to do that. Don’t have time today but hoping to go and do some tomorrow. I’ll post it in the Facebook group if I do. 😀x
Have u any tips for getting the lids off of ink bottles the small ones liz, because when I take them out on location I can’t undo the lids😂 I have a large jar full but am worried about taking the lids off lol x
Try wrapping/twisting a rubber band (I think those in UK call them an elastic?) around the lids. The rubber band will provide a grip. You can leave the bands on all the time.
I found this really useful. Thanks so much for sharing 😊
You are very welcome. I’m so glad it was helpful.
I had to share this video. The top tips is a marvellous guide
Thanks Leila!- and a Happy Easter to you! x
Thanks Liz, useful video. Look forward to seeing what you do.
Thanks Mary will be sharing some of the trip!
Happy Easter to you Liz from Ireland ☘️

Really wonderful information. Thank you.
You are welcome.

Thanks so much Robert!
I'm heading out to Camp Quirky next week, I'm so confused about which materials to take! This has helped! I'll go by my acute artistic instinct...🤣🤣

Hi Anne thank you for your comments- ah yes that scrabble paper - I used a bamboo pen with Indian ink.

Thanks Anita yes always tricky but I’m definitely a believer in less is more! Within reason
