- A January 1990 feature on Blessings in Disguise's version of Crying in the Rain. Blessings in Disguise was Dave Hill's own solo project and featured fellow Slade member Noddy Holder on vocals. The song, backed by Wild Nights on the B-side, was released as a single in November 1989.
In 1988, Slade had agreed to take an 18-month break, leaving Hill to continue working on his solo work. Crying in the Rain was recorded in 1988 and finished in 1989. It featured Holder on vocals, Hill on guitar, Bill Hunt on keyboards, Craig Fenney on bass and Bob Lamb on drums. Although Polydor Records expressed an interest in releasing the song, first they wanted Slade to re-record it, then they suggested Hill and Holder re-record a new version.
Instead, Hill and Holder decided to have the song released on the independent label Mooncrest in November 1989. The song did not generate much radio play, resulting in it failing to chart. Beyond the 1991 single Chance to Be, which did not feature Holder, Hill did not release any further solo material although Holder had contributed to a number of other tracks that still remain unreleased today.
This footage comes from Central TV News and was recorded in January 1990. As a feature on Blessings in Disguise and the single, Holder and Hill perform segments of Crying in the Rain and the b-side Wild Nights, along with a short interview.

Noddy sounds so much like Don Everly here...two of my favorite singers. Never heard Don growl like Noddy, though. Love the end with Dave and Noddy dancing down the lane.
i agree your fans need you lads
So far so good Slade
@GJBSLADE Great stuff, thanks very much. Surprised that the video wasn't shown for the singles' Xmas release in 1989, may have attracted a few more sales.
Love the bit golfing at the end…so it wasn’t just me who taped over things on video🤣
IT'S RAAAAAINING
goooooood!
I think Dave is a bit sensitive underneath his wild image. That is part of why he is my favorite I think. :)

просто чудо! жаль, что следующий сингл проекта Blessing In Disguise (кстати, это идиома: "неприятность, обернувшаяся благом") Хилл записал уже без Холдера - с Биллом Хантом из ELO...
