I read this story many years ago. The only part I remembered was the harvesting machines and the bread floating away. Sure was neat to hear the whole story again.
I noticed bread loaves got airier a year or so after covid began. A good way to stretch ingredients. Add the mentions of Ukraine, russia and supply issues due to war sanctions, not to mention wheat shortages, and this story becomes quite timely.
I'm just starting with Fritz Lieber, but I like what I've found. ^_^
