Nice honest, informative video. FYI next time you have hard plastic that needs to be repaired try Q Bond (available on eBay or Amazon) works extremely well and sets in a few minutes.
Nice job, that sound haunts me! I just spend $605 for the passenger door (P&L), picked up the car and the driver side went that same day. Brought it back for another $605 for the driver side. So $1210 later I find your video and I want to roll over my own head.
Dang man that sucks. To be honest it isn't the easiest job the first time around. There was a lot of sweat and tears. Lol peerless windows on a coupe, we sure do pay for a look.
My cable was too short, no matter how I adjusted the springs or coiled the spool. Very frustrated now! The video was very helpful in gettting thw panel off without breaking or scratching anything.
Good video! But one bit is wrong, at 11:55 minutes into your video. Those wire cris-cross. One end is a tiny but lower than the other. So 1st step is attach the bottom part of the wire, to the top of the inlet piece (piece thats attached to the window) because as i remember it is a tiny fraction bit lower. And the top wire coming from the right side of the regulator goes criss-cross to the bottom part. Those wire shoul never bend at such a great angle like that. Over time they will break again. And just ine more part you didnt show... the part where you point out at 11:59 minutes... there is a little pin keeping that part in. That has to be removed. As far as im aware. Another thing, the 12:00 minute wire goes to the bottom of the turning cirlce part and wraps around the circle as much as you can. Same with the top about 1 turn around and that goes to the top of the circle and out with the spring part inserted into the top. This is not professional advice but experienced advice. Thanks again for the video though. I should have made my own but i cant be bothered. Sorry if you take this the wrong way i just thought i would let the other viewers know a few tips.
The reason it failed is because you didn’t take all the slack out of the cable, it’s really hard to get that cable over the wheels and the springs will be fully depressed. Mine has a broken back on it too. It works perfectly . Lining the glass up is a bitch, took me 3 hours to get right. Whilst in there I greased up the tracks, wheels and gears
that end of the video cracked me up. I have an older E320 that I am going to attempt to re-cable. In my case, I don't think anything is broken. Just the cable got jammed up in that pulley wheel that you had to repair.
You didn’t get correct tension on the cables (needs to be rap around the cog on either side) and the plastic is to show you where to use the existing metal fittings
Did this on my 07 CLS several years ago. It took two of us 2 days and the wire cables cut my hands up and it still didn't work. I finally gave up and got a used regulator from the salvage yard for $75 and installed it in 30 minutes.
great video but I personally feel like you didnt actually show the steps from beginning to end you just told the steps this can actually jam someone up if they have no clue what their doing, we looking to actually see ALL the steps.
Unfortunately you have to have a spotter or extra pair of hands, which I did not have. It was the middle of winter and I had to get it done, if you know what i mean. Lol
