- The King finds himself in an ‘impossible situation’ with regards to the Coronation, as he is caught between his two sons in a vicious family row. That’s the view of the Mail on Sunday’s Editor at Large, Charlotte Griffiths, who says she understands why he might turn to a figure like the Prime Minister or the Archbishop of Canterbury. ‘It’s an impossible situation, you can see why they do want a third party,’ she tells the programme. ‘You get the impression that he’s probably tried over several years to sort this out but I think he’s probably had the good grace to say actually, look I can’t do this, so I’m going to have to get somebody else to help… there’s also the added complication of Charles worrying about William, because it sounds like William doesn’t particularly want Harry there, so he’s got to keep both sides happy which is an impossible thing to do.’

I'm sorry but this is NOT WILLIAM's fault! Stop acting as if it is a dual fight - this is Harry and Meghan causing problems from the start. It is not simply a case of siblings arguing. Harry is and has always been jealous of William - this is the issue.
I think the work towards a reconciliation should be done quietly and in private. Harry and Meghan should be warned that if they do not agree to this or break their silence on the proceedings then there will be no reconciliation. Then we would see how serious they are about mending the rift.

As the oldest child in my family, I can assure you we don't "fear" anything from a sibling- just annoyed with the b/s they get into- after years of it, you're done dealing with it.

The Royals use their platforms to bring awareness to charitable causes. I find it refreshing that they are willing to roll up their sleeves to pitch in and learn about how these charities work.
It is unreasonable to expect Prince William and Princess Catherine to have to deal with Harry and Meghan at the coronation. Anyone, who has ever endured troublemakers like Harry and Meghan in their family, would understand how William and Catherine must be feeling.

How could anyone think that it's a good idea to negotiate with those two about the Coronation?! Hasbeen has said he requires an apology before he would consider coming, but the RF has nothing to apologise for. I don't think it's 'complicated' at all! Those two have trashed our country and it's time us Brits were protected from them. No matter what Charles may want as a father, for the Coronation he should be thinking as our King. This is a state occasion, not a family get-together. Hasbeen has made himself a huge security risk by publishing his Taliban kill-count, there will be loads of foreign heads of state as well as British citizens there, and all of us would be at high risk because of him. On that basis alone, it's simply not acceptable for them to come. Rishi Sunak should tell them they are not allowed to enter the UK for the foreseeable future as they are a terrorist threat.

In the last few months he has attacked the late Queen’s legacy called it the ‘Empire 2.0’, insulted the Commonwealth so clearly that Jacinda Ardern made a point to distance herself from them and Gabon’s high commission released a statement condemning their words, he has called the King a liar and he has attacked Queen Camilla.
The minimisation of Harry’s behaviour is really frustrating to watch, from his family to segments like this that treat him like a child throwing a tantrum, he is slowly chipping away at the monarchy.
I think they want to destroy the monarchy. If they can't have the . monarchy, then they seem think nobody should have it.
Get rid of Harry's titles and exile him. At 74 Charles has yet to learn that there have to be CONSEQUENCES for bad behavior. Especially in Harold’s case of UNENDING intolerable, unacceptable behavior. At 96 an ailing queen dealt quickly and decisively with her problem child Andrew. Charles was very tough on his siblings, his parents and his first wife for decades. But three years later he still can’t bring himself to dealing with Harold. Asking Justin Welby to act as a go-between is weakness beyond measure.
Justin Welby is not capable of negotiating. The King needs to put Duty first, as our late beloved Queen Elizabeth II. It is not a family only gathering. Absolutely food banks should receive a visit from William and Kate. Neil Sean also said how much produce from the royal gardens is donated to food banks. Catherine also sends over homemade baking too.

Exactly. The donations they make aren't about a photo op dropping off some some groceries but long term, regular donations behind the scenes that actually make an impact.
I also see absolutely nothing wrong with them visiting a food bank, educating themselves about the struggles people less fortunate than them face, praising and thanking the staff and volunteers for their efforts and hard work, and shining a light on difficult issues without getting preachy about it.
Obviously those people who want to criticize them will always find something to criticize, if they don't bring a bag of donations they get criticized for "coming empty handed", if they do bring something then it will just be for show and a drop on a hot stone that doesn't really make a difference. They cannot control what people will think or say about their action, they can only control their actions and their intentions behind them.

People don't realize the importance of the first five years for a person's life. We might not remember much of our first five years, but it's like the setting up of pieces for a chess match, if you do it wrong, you lose the game before it's even started. I think it's a world-class project and I'm thankful that Catherine is bringing awareness to it and I believe even starting a center for it. It's crucial for the future and I believe her passion for it is genuine.

@@tabford8274 I don't see that it should necessarily cause a constitutional crisis. Don't forget that it's not unknown for a monarch to abdicate in favour of the next in line. In 2013, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands stepped down, she was 75. The straightforward reason was the willingness to let the youngsters take their turn. (Both her mother and grandmother did the same thing). A few months later, the King of Belgium (aged 79) abdicated in favour of his son. Then it was the turn of Juan Carlos, King of Spain.
It's been said that the Swedish public would like the Swedish king to abdicate in favour of his daughter, Victoria, who is very popular.
King Charles should be supporting and listening to William as the dutiful son, not risking his relationship by trying to bring Harry back in. Why create another breach in the family by trying to help someone who has done everything he can to destroy it.
Regarding the Prince and Princess of Wales visiting the food bank and criticism of them showing up empty handed, I had read somewhere that the royal family contributes much money and fresh food to food banks near where they live. Is that true and if so, why was that not mentioned?

The principal time involved in food banks is collecting and packaging the food. Distribution, while flashier, is not as time consuming. Good on William and Catherine to encourage the workers.

They didn't turn up empty handed!! Their support and donations are an ongoing thing. Catherine does send her own baked goods to them. This is a food bank in their own backyard in Windsor...so of course they want to thank the volunteers and use it as a way to highlight the importance of work being done around the country.

In the US, "non-profits" are a big scam. Especially registered in a state like Delaware, they can keep over 90% of their charitable donations for "managerial costs".
It has been reported that Catherine often sends home baked to the Windsor Food Bank and also fresh food is sent from the Windsor Estate on a regular basis.
I think what Catherine is doing is really important. And I like that she sticks too a few things instead of jumping on every bandwagon for attention but not really investing or making anything significant change. She is actually making a long term significant change. I mean everyone in the world now understands the importance of the first five years and is more conscious of it parenting instead of just saying oh I have time to get my act together they won't remember this. It's made a huge impact and difference I think.

When it comes to a 'stunt', I would like to say that I live in the States and the papers, every day, on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee, were full of this birthday party for Lili and arrangements for the Queen to meet Lili, they left early, etc. Oh, they know how to take over the headlines. As someone who has always been fascinated by the British Monarchy and the pomp and circumstance, it really angered me, as I wanted to read about the Jubilee!

Made sure that Megan had her winsow down while driving through crowds ,making sure sgmhe was photographed at window at Trooping of the colour poking their tongues out at Zaras children . Using them for a photo op, when at the Cathedral they made sure they were late so they could walk down the long Isle on their own then Harry's faces of thunder at being sat away from rest of Royals , wanting Royals at birthday party even though they were all busy.

Ann Widdecomb made a brilliant point on Dan Wooton's show she said, if harry is not there the royals and all visitors would be able to relax and not worry about conversations being leaked, and if they are not there no photos would be of them to overshadow the King

I think it's great that the P&PoW went to the food bank! I have been helped through the years from food banks and I think it's a very real need to promote what is out there to help people. A lot of people do not have the information on hand to get help when they need it most. So.... WELL DONE WILLIAM AND CATHERINE!
My curiosity with the Brits started with my Irish mom decades ago. She and your beautiful queen were born the same month and year and sadly they both passed within the same timeframe. It has been one fascinating study of history, psychology and personalities. I’m ready to visit from the States and do a royal tour of your country. It's the worst when your family betrays you. It takes years to build trust in someone and a day to loose it. I think as a parent, this is a good time to teach Harry what consequences look like. He won't be King for long if he shows weakness. The Queen didn't when she took their roles/ charities back from them.

It was hard to enjoy the Jubilee ,because it was all seem to be centred on Harry. I was so 😢 hard to mourn,the Queen ,because everything was centred on Harry, ,and it will happen with his father being king ,and Charles is only got himself to blame.

It’s not a difficult situation. Tell them now they’ve not to come. The press flurry will fade out about it in a few weeks then nobody can report on stares, atmosphere, boos, overshadowing private conversations etc come the day. Save the family get together for a private time- it’s a state affair not a family party. There’s no law that says you have to get on with family.

I can’t believe these women have left out THE most important piece of this story. The guy who runs the food bank reached out to Prince William and Princess Catherine to come out and see the work they do. They were invited. They just didn’t turn up.
The media - including the DM/MoS - make money from clickbait headlines. They would have known this but it makes them more money [more readers = more money and most of the readers are overseas reading the Mail Online] so why tell the truth.
Same with the ''reconciliation'' claims. They must have known these claims first surfaced in the US tabloids - allegedly they came originally from Montecito - and NOT from the UK, surely they also reached out to the palace [both Buckingham and Lambeth] for confirmation, in which case they certainly know that the claims are FAKE. According to palace officials the Archbishop won't get involved as it is nothing to do with him while the other palace commented that the King has far to much on his plate - red boxes, public visits, planning the coronation - to think about Harry and his demands. They are also forgetting Harry demanded a public apology from the palace, the family AND the press for their treatment of his wife before he would even think about attending.
They are doing nothing but stirring the pot. The full truth generally doesn't do a very good job in regards to stirring.

They weren't ok during The Platinum Jubilee. Instead of getting on the coach with all the other royals as they were supposed to do, they were late, the coach had to leave for St. Pauls, leaving behind Meghan and Harry. So, last minute, a car normally used for security, was used to get them to St. Pauls..... thus Harry and Meghan walked alone down the aisle grabbing the spot light, then had to shuffle along the second row past the other royals to their seats... this was a HUGE no-no. It was not part of the plan. Mike Tindal was seen outside on the steps of St. Pauls afterwards saying, 'Harry is a Bell-*nd'

I have cut out photos of three people and made a collage of them. Then I took snap photos of the collage and had the roll of film processed at a photo-developing kiosk. I have essentially produced a "real" photograph complete with an identifiable datestamp on the back of the paper as well as negatives.

I believe Catherine is smart to raise awareness of the importance of the first 5 years of a child's life without suggesting programs, policies, etc. Perhaps it is better for entities other than the government to be involved, and by raising awareness, it piques the interest of NGO's to get involved. Government programs should be a last resort, not the first place we go for services. By doing all she can to raise awareness and get people talking about the issue, she is stimulating interest that could result in some solutions and collaborations that no one has even considered yet. As an American, I wish we had a royal family to shine light on issues, because I'm telling you, once the government gets involved, it gets all messed up!

If they don't come, there will be a huge collective sigh of relief from the nation and then we can concentrate on enjoying the pageantry, solemnity and sheer glory of the coronation. If they come, the cameras will constantly follow them and there will be boos from the assembled company as before, only far more than then after their shenanigans. Willam's fear is well founded!
