Thank you Sophia!!! This is EXACTLY what I keep wondering!!!! How to include greeting, build rapport offer a reward and STILL teach a lesson in 2.30 minutes!?🤔
Thanks Michael, you give the most thorough advice. Other videos said you just record the demo - don't worry about props, etc, and you'll pass. Well, you still need props, but you can get creative without spending a bunch of money. I think people don't want to spend a bunch of money on a classroom setting unless they know they're gonna get hired. At the same time, you should have the mindset you will get hired and thus you will need a proper setting with props and tools.
Where did you find the subject matter to teach on this demo? Was it provided? Did they give you the soccer sentence to say? I’m at the demo video section and don’t know what to do
Thank you for the video., Michael. I am currently preparing the application. I currently teach adult students. I am passionate about teaching, however my teaching style is rather laid back. I need to be able to project enthusiasm, while sounding sincere.
I did my demo and received excellent reviews on my teaching/pronunciation/TPR etc. They said I needed to work on lighting, technology and an educational background. They're letting me redo the quick demo. I was disappointed because I had to buy a light, mic, and background materials to redo it. I thought the quick demo was just go see if I had energy, and the ability to teach VIP Kids style. Also, recording the demo on the phone is not the easiest or best way! Why can't we do it from our laptop? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same problem. My teaching was reviewed as basically perfect, but I didn't pass because of the same issues you have. Teaching on my phone is obviously not what I will be doing in the future, so why am I expected to have the perfect set up for the smart demo? In the comments I was told to make sure to have a wired internet connection when I record the redo smart demo....how???? I am on my phone??? I feel like the teaching should be most important for the smart demo, and the cosmetic things can come later.
@@SarahW4285 it's very frustrating. I made my background today and ordered a white light and headset from Amazon. I also found you can download the vipkid app onto your desktop. That's what I'm going to do for my redo.
@@ginavega7116 really? I didn't know you could download the app onto the desktop. I also made a background today and set up a lamp. I should probably get a headset too. Same thing happened to me...So I spent money on proper background, whiteboard, props, etc... Made sure the lighting was good. I still have to redo it! Hi Michael! I already have the app but I am not sure how to put your code. I have been teaching online since 2009 with a certain company the I worked homebased to teach I quit in 2017. I went to china to volunteer with my America husband. Nowadays is totally different, TPR is the new thing lol I was more on class procedure and I had style how my students understand my lesson. I wanted to go back teaching but I dont know where to start.
That’s a great question. At first I didn’t, I slowly and steadily build my collection of props based on what I was seeing in the lessons over and over again
Great information! Thank you for informing us about the app! It sounds convenient compared to doing the demo on the computer. P.S. Do I have to wear an orange shirt? Does that add brownie points for the demo? Lol
For the smart demo there’s not an actual student present so they don’t have to draw or circle anything on screen. But you do see the slide you’re teaching 🙂
Thanks so much! Because I don’t have access to your email can you email me so I can give you access to my referral support materials. email.teacher.michael@gmail.com
I am struggling to pass the smart demo because of cosmetic things like background, lighting, and technology. Your example doesn't look like it was recorded on a phone, but I could be wrong. How can I have the quality video they are looking for when I am limited to my phone for the smart demo?
Most phones are more than good enough to record the smart demo. The biggest factor that contributed to a high quality video is lighting. If you make sure you have enough light you should be good 🙂
