BTW, Pudding was on Blackbeard's ship during the chapters you see Blackbeard and Law fight. Pretty sure there was a panel showing her in the chapter Law was a woman.
Great review as always Haylee! Btw, the Holy Knight at the end of chapter 1086 is somehow related to Shanks. As we found out in "One Piece Film: Red" his family name is Figarland, so Garling is probably his father or grandfather.

Every time you see the sound effect "DO OM" or "BO OM" in the back, the actual sound used in Japanese is "DON" (ドン), which is the onomatopoeia of the beating of a drum, and it's the same used by Tom (Franky's father-figure) when he said that stuff should be done with a "Don". The kana spelling of "don" is the same one as the US pronunciation of the word "dawn" (kanas are phonetic, dawn is pronounced /dɔn/ in AmE, and /dɔːn/ in BrE, so British pronunciation would make it ドーン)
Facts:
Garp teamed up with Roger at God Valley, to take down Rocks D. Xebec
At some point after this, an orphaned Marshall D. Teach asked to join Whitebeard's crew
Blackbeard's ship is called the Sabre of Xebec
There is precedent for sons with the name D to change their family name to hide their real identity - Gol D. Ace, Trafalgar D. Waterlaw
Theory:
Blackbeard was too young to know what happened at God Valley personally - he was only 2 when it happened and Rocks died - but there's absolutely no reason he can't turn out to be Rocks' son. And he now has one of the only people alive who knows what really happened at God Valley, captured. Garp's alive for as long as it takes for us to see that flashback, and then...well his story is over and you know how Oda feels about that.
There’s also a chance Lili was a PawPaw fruit (Kuma) user with the comment about scattering the poneglyphs

The use of "senior" there is in the same sense as the senpai-kohai relation, or senior-junior. I know there's not much of a change in meaning, but there is more gravitas to the word protégé than to apprentice, no matter how senior you are, and that implied difference in perception from Garp was not intended in the original material. Kuzan is the senpai, Koby is the kohai, but they are both Garp's protégés
Remember Black Beards reason for kidnapping Koby in the first place was to use him as leverage. Now he has an even greater bargaining chip, Garps not dead....yet
About Franky not being fully affected by S-Snake's powers - I'm pretty sure it was because she hit him to turn him to stone instead of using the beam. I feel like I remember seeing some of the original pacifista and maybe some marines getting hit by Boa during Marineford and the same thing happened there. They just turned to stone around the area they were hit. I haven't gone back to look closely at the panels or episodes for this, so I could be wrong.
38:15 Fun fact. Queen Nefertari D. Lili looks exactly like Vivi, and she is Cobra's Ancestor. In Alabasta we get to see a picture of Vivi's Mom, Titi. Titi also looks exactly like Vivi. There's also another theory of her having Kuma's Nukyu Nukyu no Mi, becuase they blame him from spreading the poneglyphs, and Kuma's ability would be perfect to scatter them around the world
The prevailing queen Lily devil fruit theory is she used the paw paw fruit to spread the poneglyphs far and wide in a short amount of time, and people think if Kuma dies than Vivi could inherit his powers by eating a fruit
Theories are that Aokiji sealed the wound where Shiryu stabbed him with the ice. We're all in this together
Dragon could have the Junji Ito-esque spiral power. He could use that to create whirlpools or cyclones. But I doubt he is man with burn scar. Anyone who sees Dragon would know him as Dragon instead of just scarred man

If treated that way, it sort of fits the elegant old-timey speech style, translated as something like "Sire" or "Master"

As far as we know, Garp is still alive and kicking.
Of course, we don't see what happened, and killing Garp and sending his body to the Cross Guild gives you A LOT of money and ALL the street cred.
But they could also try to use him as a bargaining chip as they intended to use Koby.
But Garp is old, and he was severely injured.
But he is a powerhouse, he won't fall so easily.
But he was smiling, and members of the D clan die with a smile.
But Garp story is not over, he needs to see Luffy one more time.
But this way Koby can inherit his will, a main theme of One Piece.
But maybe Kuzan IS on our side and everything's a ruse.

I am amazed how Oda with only one chapter (1082) was able to take a gag character like Buggy and completely reframe his character with that scene, especially the little extended flashback, and made me want to root for him again.

I think it's because Sabo always around someone who had D. as their middle name. Ace, Luffy, Dragon...

27:00 Last time we saw that poneglyph was on Oden's flashback, it was on Fishman Island next to the apology from JoyBoy. We don't know what happened to Fishman Island immediately after that, but it eventually was taken under Whitebeard's protection, and then Big Mom. The poneglyph was not there when BM took over (or she'd have two), so it disappeared before or during Whitebeard's "tenure". If we assumed Whitebeard acted rapidly, and as soon as problems arose due to the hordes of the Great Pirate Era, he took the island under his wing, it becomes way more likely that he did something to it, not because he was interested in getting the One Piece (Roger directly offered it to him), but to remove a cause of danger for the Ryugu Kingdom. I like to operate under that assumption, so the one hiding the 4th poneglyph would be someone Whitebeard trusted.
So "the man marked by flames", on a pitch-black ship surrounded by storms, trusted by Whitebeard. Let's work on marked by flames first, as it's the most tangible one, the black ship and the storms can be embellishment, and WB trusting him is just my headcanon:
* Kuzan is clearly charred.
* Same as Saul
* So is Sabo
* Dragon has the oddly shaped tattoo that could be considered fire
* Could the three lines across Shanks's eye be considered to look like flames? Or his red hair?
* Anyone who's been a slave at Marie Geoise and carry the brand
* Someone we don't know
Now, of those names,
* Kuzan rides a bike, so no.
* Saul is in Elbaf, not on a ship, so no.
* We don't know if Sabo has "his" ship, but even if he did, the whirlpools don't add up.
* Dragon is believed to have a weather devil fruit (Storm Storm Paramecia in my take on that), he could be creating the whirlpool/typhoons around his ship, the Wind Granma, but the ship is not black (though it has a black/red dragon around it). We don't know of him having ever interacted with Whitebeard, but it wouldn't be an issue, they were both massive political figures of the world until WB's demise at Marineford. Could be.
* Shanks's Red Force is not black, and he cannot control weather, but based on him causing physical damage to the Mobi Dick with his haki just to flex a little, I'd say he could at least mess up the water around his ship if he wanted to. And we know WB trusted him. Could be.
* A former slave from Marie Geoise could be a Fishman or have Fishman friends, that's how he could get to know Whitebeard (through the Sun Pirates), and that's how he could get the poneglyph. Also, Fishmen could jump on the water and mess it up creating whirlpools. Could be.
And there's another name that doesn't fit any criteria, because we haven't seen him, but we do know him: Scopper Gaban. Former member of Roger's crew with long dark hair, glasses, and fights with axes. Based on how he was introduced, he'd be the Sanji of Roger's own Monster Trio. There are a few theories about him: some people believe he was the bald man in glasses shown having a collected reaction to Whitebeard's death, some believe it was the guy wearing a kasa hat and sharing a drink with Crocus and Laboon in a cover story (others believe that person to be Shiki, I believe it to be Yorki, the cover is chapter 631, it's the 16th cover of "From the Decks of the World")
Congrats on getting the Neferati D Vivi right. They were one of the original families too. And the Ds are supposed to be the enemies of the Celestial Dragons. No wonder Lili didn't want to stay in Mariejoa.

My favorite moments for this bunch of chapters are the Buggy chapter/flashback, Kobra throne room scene with the Gorosei name reveal, Shanks vs Kid, and of course everything that has to do with Garp. Especially chapter 1088 which made me love Garp so much.
vegapunk already said in a prior chapter that he only need the lineage factor (DNA) from a devil fruit eater to replicate their devil fruits

48:20 My take is that Vegapunk did not create the weapon, that the Mother Flame is an energy source, a battery of sorts, as he explained that's his main research, that he wants to create a miniature Sun, which it a massive ball of flames, so Mother Flame does fit as a name for a prototype for it. Add to it that they could only use it once, and it fits: An Ancient Weapon that requires a the power source from the Ancient Kingdom that Vegapunk is trying to replicate, and he's failed attempt grants the weapon a one time use. And yes, I'm implying that the weapon they used is Uranus. They didn't use it before, and they will not use it again soon, because the only source of power they have yet is Vegapunk's Mother Flame that's a one-off
From here on out is just going to be amazing, Oda finally gets to capitalise on all the plot points he's introduced and we get to experience them, the ANSWERS ARE FINALLY COMING
I think the mother flame created by Vegapunk is based on the power source for the ancient technology, and he probably wanted to use it for peaceful purposes. The government most likely had the third ancient weapon all along but it wasnt charged up so they couldn't use it, but now they've taken Vegapunk's research and used it to reactivate the weapon.
About the Shanks vs. Kid: Also Kid did fight Big Mom with the help of Law, so it was a 2 on 1 before.
