Thank you for this magnificent performance! Scheherazade is such a beautiful, sadly tragic, ballet, but what music! I just love Andris and Ilze Liepa. Their dad was Maris Liepa, one of the Bolshoi's greatest dancers, whom I had the pleasure of seeing in NYC when they were on tour there. The performance was "Spartacus" and his "Crassus" was a marvel. Again, thank you!
Rarely does a production move me as much as this did. It's extraordinarily good at every moment. The music is unearthly dramatic and colorful; the dancing and choreography is pure art incarnate; the costumes lavish and superbly crafted. A 10 out of 10. Gold.

Russian music, Russian architecture, Russian literature and poetry, Russian politics, the irrepressible and eternal energy of the Slavic peoples! More to the point, If it were not for the bravery of Soviet tank crews, many astonishingly tough women, at the battle of Kursk, we would all be speaking German or on the way to extermination camps. Compare the richness and maturity and philosophical depth and fecundity of Mother Russia with those juvenile marauders in Washington and New York and Chicago. Gangsters in charge of their shiney and nuclear armed republic. It is like turning from a dinner table of adults, where Russian and French and Polish and English and Mandarin might all be spoken, to a kindergarten of spoilt and malicious children. From the smile of reason and wise irony and culture, to the grimaces of the insane and the antics of incipient mass-murders. No wonder so many ex-Nazi party members were so much at home in 1950s and 1960s AMerica. Not least Werner von Braun. Love andrea

Not only Liepa's choreography is referential... the Bolshoi Orchestra plays, though incomplete, one of the best versions EVER! Sergey Stadler's violin is so poignant, so tragic ... one of the greatest soloists this music has ever had!
Puzzling why someone attributed this to the Category: Science & Technology?? *smile* Nevertheless, it is a wonderful recreation of Russes' 1910 ballet-adaptation -- which was choreographed by Michel Fokine; and costumes and scenery designed by Leon Bakst; and -- apparently, all of which was annoying to Rimsky-Korsakov's wife! For further elaboration see: Wikipedia's "Scheherazade (Rimsky-Korsakov)". For me? THUMBS UP for this particular performance!
I prefer the ballet be true to the original story. Scherezade did not die according to the story. I would love to see the ballet based on the stories in Scherezade.
I think it sounds beautiful. I actually purchased the original dvd in large part because I liked the sound of this rendition so much. I like that it sounds somewhat off and messed up at times, not too “perfect.” Don’t know how to best word it but it evokes what I would imagine the correct emotion to be.

I think you need to get your hearing checked.
@@riverwildcat1 it’s in the wrong key and is also out of tune. I have perfect pitch. You can check it against an electronic tuner if you like.
@@riverwildcat1 they probably changed the key to avoid copyright, which is really slimy. But it wasn’t a good orchestral performance anyway.

I hate these kind of movies....just sexuality ...and other stuff which has no morals promotion...objectifing women.... Cant identify women as human
