We Weren’t Expecting This! Mad Ride To A Village Pub On Two CCM's

- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- Today we ride the CCM Maverick and Bobber for the first time and really get to grips with these motorcycles.
We first asked to ride a CCM when we had less than 5000 subscribers, we have finally got a hold of two, a mere 100,000 subscribers later and around 5 years later.
They are not widely known, outside the motorcycle exhibition world, because they have not been shown in the right media, but now, with the magic of RUclips, you can see these two very impressive, characterful motorcycles, and, HEAR them!
Two British made big singles; cool motorcycles and a quintessential British pub, what more could you ask for?

It started with MrDarcy suddenly coming across in a more relaxed and professional style and now the same is true of the old man, this has to be the most improved motorcycle channel on RUclips, well done to both of you, extremely watchable 👍
My favourite "biketubers" now, been great to watch the channel grow. Stunning footage and great people. I think it helps that most other people that cover the more characterful bikes are solo operations so they can't do the comparison reviews and stuff that this channel does, it's a good niche to fill
Thank you so much for the lovely shout out. It was so nice to meet you both and I hope you come back to us for a meal sometime!
BTW....The chap "nicking" the sunday dinners was the owner of the pub 🤣
@@lynnebruno8839 hi, yes we will definitely be back and great to know it was the owner that nicked the dinner 😂
There's something genuinely calming about watching the old man blasting down country lanes, Darcy burbling through villages, and the father and son duo bumbling happily about.
You and Darcy have as much character as the bikes‼️
That’s very kind of you 😁
I visited this pub when I came to visit England from Spain in 2023...never again...they refused my young 2 yr old granddaughter a meal stating she had to be out of the building by 2000hrs... the country has changed beyond all recognition since I left...on a lighter note ...great channel...been a sub for a long time now...great to see the supply of new and alternative bikes moving in the right direction...well deserved
@@ffs5532sorry to hear that! Perhaps it has changed owners since then, the owners we met were nothing but lovely to us! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
I agree. They are both great.
@@ffs5532 Same owners for 30 years and I can tell you that absolutely did NOT happen. Perhaps you are thinking of a different pub
I've never heard of this Brand. Never too old to learn I guess. Both models are eyeturners. I was like the little boy and wanted to get up closer and put my hands on them. Thanks for being the first to show me. You and pops are favorites of mine. At 71 I'm still learning and enjoying anything moto related. 👍👍
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed!
This is the comment I was going to write! I'm also 71 ! Cheers john in St Louis Missouri !!!
CCM is an old brand that appears to be revived in recent years.
I love your off bike tours of the amazing buildings, houses and churches... I'm sure I'm not the only one...
Excellent video format. We like motorcycles, among other things, for the places they allow us to visit. Thanks for keeping the subs active. Greetings from Argentina
Pleased you enjoyed it, many thanks 😊
Great video, I enjoy the bikes for sure but I also like how you take the time to show the villages and countryside! Cheers from Ontario Canada.
Lovely, just lovely 👍
Thanks for presenting these two bikes, lads 🙏
These bikes are just a work of art.I saw one at a dealership and was blown away by the build quality.
💯👍🏼
50+ years ago, you could almost guarantee you would see the maverick in steve mcqueens collection. British design & build at its best. I was lucky enough to have a go on the spitfire👍
These two sound so badass, I can only imagine how well they sound in person.
@@keithstewart1979 absolutely awesome sounding 👍🏼
Clews Competition Motorbikes made not far from us in Bolton are not massed produced but hand made making them unique but obviously not cheap. As with everything, exclusivity comes at a price but you pays your money etc. Love Rutland, has to be one of my favourite countries having worked down there in the past.
I must say. This Channel and Freddie Dobbs, is my absolute favorites. Its more then just bikes, but enjoying the small things in life.
To my humble taste, they are beautiful. And I had no idea they exist, looking like concept bikes.
Totally!!
Yes more videos like this one please. I recall at least one Itchy Boots video when she was on a horse, it didn’t do her any harm ! So the Ol’man on a horse, why not ! 🇬🇧
Somerby the home of the horse beaters! Another great vid boys. Real rides, genuine thoughts, lovely locations, beautiful bikes, ticks all the boxes for me. Thanks guys.
These bikes look like a hoot to ride. They sound great and look amazing. Something to consider. I would love to see more destinations reviewed.
They are absolutely stunning bikes, especially the Maverick ❤ great video guys 👍🏼
Glad you like them!
Great change of pace gentlemen and something more interesting than the normal formulaic bike reviews, more please 👍
Love the format of this video. Great stuff
Thanks 😊
Clews Competition Machines, proving we all need a little Bolton in our lives since 1971. Well done for getting your mits on these, kudos.
..And today's suggested listening is "Midnight Blues" by Snowy White.
Riding cool bikes and going to nice pubs with your dad all the time sounds like an absolute dream! Cheers!
The pub that was shut but still served you reminded me of an old joke.
Pubs in Ireland used to shut for an hour in the afternoon, the so called “Holy Hour”. The landlord says to the English tourist “No, no, I can’t be serving you now at all, it’s against the law, we’re shut for the Holy Hour… will ye have a drink while you’re waiting?”
Thank you for showing us beautiful places in your videos ! Nice bikes too, great sound
Was out on a ride last week in Yorkshire. Called in at The Motorist (a petrolheads heaven) and CCM were doing a demo day. Straight away asked me if I wanted to take one for a ride. Checked that no excess if I dropped it - took it out for a 20min blast. Amazing - compact, very throaty and brilliant handling. Lots of torque due too light weight. If I was cash rich I’d have one in the garage for back lane blasts but they’re not cheap so I’d have to win a bob or two!!
Once my Harley gets to heavy I'll get a CCM bobber so light and cool looking
@@georgearcher5696 💯👍🏼
Lovely, exactly where'd I put my two camping dry bags😂 sliding back on the bobber seat will result in a very bad day 😂
Thanks for showing the CCMs guys. Definitely something different but alluring.
A horse ride filmed with your chest mount would be very funny. Seeinf a horse's head instead of handlebars. You could do a spoof review of the horse 😅
Hello from Finland! Is it possible that you would put on the subtitles on your great videos? Not that i don’t understand what you say, but sometimes i got so much backround noise with the kids that it would be great 😂 Keep on with the videos! Cheers!
No worries, I have added them now! 😊
@@MrDarcy-OlMan
Great!
Yes, please - more videos like this! If this was a televised series (motorbikes, coffee and adventures) I’d watch it every day! Any time I hop on my Triumphs or Ducati, I yearn to explore just like this. Living wayyyy out in the desert in Arizona, USA, I love living vicariously through your videos and seeing the beautiful, history-rich sites in your area. I’ll stay tuned as always 🙏
Thank you 😊
These are some of the nicest looking bikes I’ve seen. Wish there was a way to get them in the US. Thanks for the great video.
I think this is the best video that you boys have made to date...the bikes the beautiful English village the fabulous pub..I'm sure you are having way to much fun...utterly charming..and yes I am a member...oh and darcy reminds me of a young Bruce Willis die hard...I want more....!!
@@paulcowell7588 thank you, great to hear 👍🏼
Great upload guys, I'm really looking forward to watching the reviews on these bikes, they look amazing!
Pleased you enjoyed it and yes more to come soon 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks for replying, I am really taken by them but feel that they would have to be a second or third bike for me, like my Interceptor.
Those are absolutely stunning! 👌Even though I am a custom and cruiser guy, the CCM Bobber would definetly find its way into my garage if I had extra money to spend.
I love those old churches for the same reasons.) That old pub was really neat. For other than big highway miles those CCMs make sense. Throttle cables, light, and good sound. Great video!
I remember CCM's going around the scramble track near where I used to live & these bikes pretty much replicate the sound perfectly. Out of the two I'd probably go for the Maverick as to me it looks a more nicer bike to my eyes although I think analogue clocks rather than digital would suit it much better. Nice to see the ole man in hooligan mode earlier spinning the rear wheel & getting covered in grass & that pub is a proper old school English pub which is nice to see as there's not many around nowadays.
Another great video both. At the moment you both seem to be on fire and knocking out professionally produced and exited content. Thank you and keep up the good work. 😀
I’ve never really like bobbers but my god that one is stunning!
I live near Elsworth and have fond memories of the track spent a lot of time there and could hear the bikes from my house, it's been closed for about 15-20 years now sadly.
Really enjoyed the format of this video. Great bikes - I've looked at them at the London bike show and they really are special. Would love to ride one, they sound fantastic. Enjoyed your walk around the village - I do a lot of photography and love old English towns and villages, especially the churches. Keep up the good work and ride safe!
@@MGman100 thank you very much 👍🏼
Iced tea. Do you have iced tea in British Pubs and if so, are refills free or is it an extra charge each time I consume one? Curiouser and curiouser...
Character: How a bike makes you feel not only riding it but just looking at it. Just like your Nation. Beautiful. Historical. Filled with character and characters. As for cars? Well, the Saint's P1800 would definitely fit right in there.
Thanks!
SS in commiefornia, USA.
I’ve had 5 million cups of tea but I have yet to have one iced. You may be out of luck
@@billbogg3857 Thank you! I had thought perhaps it was unheard of in England. I drink gallons (US) of it here at home. I still would like to visit one day as Great Britain looks beautiful.
I will just ask for some ice on the side! Thanks again!
SS
I really enjoy videos that show the incredible history and provide some info on the places you can ride to
Old historic buildings here in the USA might be three hundred years old
Brilliant vlog! The format was truly spot on. Regards, Mo 😊👍
Had to play your video tru my Kef speakers so I could hear that engine 😮 omg sounds amazing
Great idea!
@@mothertoad560 PS. Make sure you watch our CCM Maverick review next week, the audio in that is even better 👍🏼
Excellent review.
Years ago, I went on a one of CCM's ride-out days on one of their 600cc enduros in the Peak District.
Very expensive for what they are. The Ol'Man looks like he is back on the Monkey bike 😂
CCM produce beautiful looking British built motorcycles and it's great to see you reviewing two of them , personally I prefer the Spitfire and I'd love to test ride one however it's almost impossible to find one in a dealer ( I don't think CCM have any dealers) so buying one is a leap of faith. Must admit you and the Ol Man both made the bobber look tiny .
Thanks!
@@edwardsenesac thank you very much 👍🏼
I currently have 3 CCMs a 2002 R30 604, and 2 x 2002 604 Dual Sports all fitted with the 600cc Rotax 604 engine. The R30 and one of the Dual Sports have been overboard to nearly 700cc and are road bikes fitted with 17" wheels, you could call them Supermoto's and the highly tuned engines on these 2 bikes both make about 70 RW HP, the other Dual Sport is standard at 597cc and is more mildly tuned at about 50 RWHP, I use it for off road pottering on green lanes. I have to say it's hard to beat a CCM for sheer fun, I've had blasts with sport bikes round the lanes and beat them easily with my solid 70bhp @ rear wheel, great brakes and handling and only 143Kg wet bike weight, Great to see some modern CCM's on your show at last although personally I prefer the older versions, great review, Thanks boys!
Two smashing bikes by the looks of things and love the 'travelogue' aspect to the vlog. Thanks.
"Its humid here in England"
_Laughs in North Carolinian_
I think we got the spirit of it when the Old Man aka Mr. Gentlemen’s Bike himself started throwing rooster tails on the side of the road 😂
They do sound and look great. Looking forward to the reviews.
Really enjoyed your ride on the CCM motorcycles. Glorious sound in the village you visited was amazing as well. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s excellent. Many thanks, paul
Thank you 😊
I would say that Maverick in the spec you had, was much closer to £15k as I found out after a test run, still worth that but enough to make you think 🤔 for a 600 enduro single with quite short servicing intervals. I’d go for the basic spec and maybe add stuff later. Great B road and green lane runner. So light and bags of character.
We were trying to find the prices on their website and it took us to what is, we suspect, is an old page, but since making the video we have found the new current page with the new pricing and so yes you are right 👍🏼👍🏼
Definitely my favourite video format. Great job as always
The Ol' Man needs to do a video on his collection of riding jackets. Way cooler than mine.
Cracking video boys, great to see a bit of olde England going on, great content 😊
Nice video presentation. Really enjoyable to watch till the end. The bikes especially the maverick look and sound the part. It's good to see British brands coming back and building in England.
Yes please. More videos of the places you ride. I tried buying the Maverick but sadly not available in the US 😢
I would buy that bobber in a heartbeat but I'm in the US. Gorgeous bikes!
Thanks guys ! ♥
Very nice video. Hugely enjoyable.
Will be checking this company out for sure thanks guys, not on my radar before - lovely old pub and village. Definitely give the horse riding a go 👍
Pleased you enjoyed it 👍🏼
Oh wow man--I've got the same engraving of a fox hunt, here in the Carolinas, as that cool old pub.
i like the CCM's, would like one as a second bike, each bike can be customised to the smallest detail, so you can go mad depending on your budget cos they aren't cheap. also for servicing i was told CCM will send someone to you or come and pick it up as they are based i think in Bolton
I'm sure I've said it before, but the Ol' Man's riding pants. Epic.
Totally suit the Scrambler.
These videos are very therapeutic
Glad you think so!
Never seen any bike from this brand...thank you so much!
Tried the Maverick and great fun, beautifully made, would love to see CCM do a larger 4 stroke with that awesome build quality
Yep! I really like the new format of your videos. Very entertaining, and I'm also very interested in those bikes!
Ccm will put re to shame 😂 love you two
Both of these bikes are very cool! If I had to pick one, I might go with the bobber, but they're both really cool bikes. Looking forward to the individual reviews.
Horseback riding? You mean... like a motorbike made of meat? Huh! I might like to see that.
Our local mechanic Steve used to race a CCM motocross bike in 80s, all the rest screaming Maicos, Honda, Yams and Kawasaki, then Steve on the thunderous 4 stroke, rooster tailing the mud🙂 . Racing circuit smells - Castrol R and two stroke oil . Nice vid boys 👍👍👏👏👏
Awesome 👍🏼
Hi from Australia 2016 Fat Boy S here.
Seen 2 of these bikes last year out in the wilds of Derbyshire. Both broke down!! Don't go far. 😂
Awesome looking pub, can't say the same about the bikes!
Where you are located, I'd be all for watching a tour of the countryside on horseback...
Awesome video. One of your best I think. Authentic and somewhat impromptu
I’m so jealous! They don’t sell CCM in the US. The sound was amazing! As for phone mounts, there were ratchet type that would take two hands to install and still drop your phone. Then came the Ram X. So many people damaged their phones that they added a rubber safety strap. Quadlock was a “game changer”. That was then. There’s a new kid that has blown all others away, including Quadlock. I have no affiliation with them except as a satisfied customer, and that’s Peak Design. My Quadlocks went straight into the bin. I wouldn’t inflict them on anyone, knowing what I do about Peak Design. I know Quadlock is paying you and you haven’t experienced anything better yet. Someday you will. To put it in motorcycle terms the Ram was like the original Honda 50. The Quadlock was like the jump to the Honda CB350. Peak Design is like a Multistrada or R1250RT in comparison.
Didn't know about CCM but I've checked their website and they got amazing bikes that can be personalized for hours, hard to chose one.
I really enjoy this channel, thank you both for the content! Darcy, if you don't mind my asking, what helmet do you have? Thanks guys 😊
Great to hear 😊
The link is in the story description to XL Moto for the helmet and search for stormer glory 👍🏼
Great looking bikes. Thanks!
Great format and content, thank you...
Enjoyable, make more vids like this please.
Thanks 😊
12:27 😂😂...that good ol' coke mate!
I like the Maverick much more. Good to see the flag. I've only ridden one CCM. It had an awful gearbox, but this was getting on for 20 years ago. I'm prepared to accept that they're much slicker now. 10:10 I thought you'd got a bra on Ol' Man. I'll look forward to the individual reviews. CCM: the best thing to come out of Bolton.
Stunning little town. A couple of my best friends, both now sadly deceased, used to live in Liecestershire: Frank in Quorn, and David in Market Harborough. I've spent a lot of time in Leicestershire. Great county. Nick
If you get a chance, visit CCM in Bolton…..
Nice video. The bikes that you both review and ride are certainly the interesting ones. Keep on the good work!
BRRRP BRRRP AWESOMENESS!! 👍
I'm dying from the heat. Put the kettle on!
Love them both..they are gorgeous, beautifully put together & jolly expensive.. they are just a little too diminutive for a big lad that needs to move around on a bike and has a penchént for doing 200 miles on a nice day so I shall enjoy looking at smaller, better paid folk getting very excited about them and stick to a far less attractive, but ultimately better ( for my use at least )physically-larger older machine..Lovely bikes though!
Bloody hell Darcy, you look like Paddy Considine from the film Hot Fuzz when you have the helmet and shades on in this vid..
(The sarky detective with the tash)..
Check it out if you want a laugh...,
Good stuff though as usual..😉👍
Would love to see a CCM dealer network here in the States! GREAT looking bikes, excellent concept! Like the Maverick best!
Another great video, love it! Are you still doing a bike meet for passing 100k subs? Unless I've missed it!
Keep up the good work!
Thank you! No we’ve decided not to. We didn’t get enough response from people saying whether they’d come to the one that was cancelled due to rain, so maybe we’ll think of something else
@@MrDarcy-OlMangood stuff - I'll keep an eye out. You're well on the way to 200k now anyway!
They look very cool. BMW should offer a job to the Designer of this bike since their own Design Dept. Sucks!
He probably wouldn't take it. He left CCM to build his own bikes. Look up Langen motorcycles
A woman just did a ride across Africa on a 250cc motorcycle. Wondering if you might find out which bike she used and review it. Her name is Udoh Ebaide Joy. Maybe some good content for you?
04:00 sounds like a shart…but in a complimentary way 😂
