Great review. The Class 231 Flirts are excellent in every way, and their tri-mode cousins the Class 756 could and should have been the one type to fill all the needs of local services in Wales. They could run anywhere, but I guess the cost of a whole fleet of Stadler units would have been prohibitive. Sadly, the Class 197s are simple DMUs, and will be around for many years, and they are not very Green !

All very true mate! I can't wait for these to move into Maestegs as I live along the route, therefore I'd have a 231 into Cardiff instead of a 197 😂

Was very unfortunate to see. Yes, they really are much nicer than the 197s! I'd travelled on one beforehand and it just seemed so awful in comparison!
