Exactly this i used years ago to fight my target panic. when i started i felt my fingers twitch trying to release and often did, but it takes time to "rewire" the brain. after a couple of sessions i could shoot way better already. that said i couldnt do it on close distance and had to do it at 10 or 18 meters. After a couple good holds i did shoot an arrow to keep having fun and slowly regain proper form and stuff.
Do you shoot with a magnifying lens with your compound bow. That could magnify the movement and cause target panic Do you use a pin in your recurve? If not, that's probably why you don't feel target panic on recurve. Or you just don't have as high of an expectation
Lol on the “run” moment. One question for Sjef: has your trainer any routine on mindfulness or meditation for you? Can you share any advice on further videos? I would be very interrsted in “mental game” or meditation tools for competition.
I shoot a trad recurve, instinctive. My target panic is related to distance. Until 20 meters, i don't have any problems. Past 20 meters it gets difficult to draw fully back and get into anchor.
Hi Morten, thanks for your (again) godly advice and constructive criticism. Perhaps you could give us some lessons on how to be the best archer in the world. Enlighten us!
What I get from reading these articles, is that we did quite a good job articulating the subject matter into a video with actual steps to take so you can go and work on the issues at hand based on actual experience rather than just theory. This is the case for nearly all of the videos we make. It seems like every time we put a lot of time and effort into making one of these, you leave a negative comment. What is your purpose exactly? If people wanted to learn about psychology and neurology related to target panic they would probably not go to this video, and that was exactly the point. Simple language, concrete and sincere advice with actual exercises that (again, from experience) work well.
@@TripleTroubleArchery do people know there is a biological component to tp and that is has nothing with panic at all? I just want to have a open debate about things so we all can grow and learn . To mutch info is just copy pasted..monkey see monkey do. Is the release sub concious? If so it should be muscle memory and immune and tp would not be a thing, so maybe the release need to be executed with some level of cognitivety and dont leave it too the autopilot that requires the use of muscle memory, one can argue that tp is just a bad habit or the archer is not able to hold, that its a matter of biology not psycology. Unless there is some ptss involved. Has anyone acctualy asked a psycologist about tp? Are there any papers or studies published? Any methods within the scientific method applied? Maybe I had too high expectations and a thirst for knowladge.

THANK YOU Sjef & Gijs it's Great therapy for those who had panic target.
Best Regards from Jakarta Indonesia
Love the long distance holding drills!
Thank you for all advice, I think it will really help me.
Thank you, I will try it out and hopefully it works
I used to have awful target panic, every time the sight was in the gold I'd release. Holding it there was really hard work.
I have target panic from time to time with my compound bow but not at all with my recurve.

Switch to pressure activated relesse aid, that whay you cant punch the trigger. And dont aim focus on muscular sensor feedback
Congratulations on the video, greetings from Chile.
Great great video. Thanks. I too have Brady Panic. That guy is scary as hell and way too good

The first step to fixing a problem is reconising there is a problem in the first place
This reminds me of triple trouble from X factor
My problem comes from when the clicker goes off. My brain thinks the shot is done and my body collapses.
*New challange idea....*
shoot a new bow from the box
*Shoot an untuned bow*
