    What kind of person is so cruel to put white text infront of a white light? :(

    • @ExploringBeyond
      @ExploringBeyond 6 лет назад +1

      It's the modern thing to do. I had no issues reading it, must be because I have a pretty good monitor that can contrast the lighter colors. I can see how this can be a problem with older screens though

      I know right?! I just completely ignored the text since (not because i didn't notice it most of the time) it's completely unreadable.

    Whoever decided to use white subtitling against a predominantly white background should go rethink their life choices.
    The staging is absolutely atrocious to boot.

    I think HEXA could be around after we are gone. Give her some solar power, and make her autonomous. No R.C. she'll explore forever. It's human destiny to create something to replace us.

      Jeremy not trying to be mean but are you stupid? Even with a 3d printer, you don't have the chips and tech inside the bot

    • @matthewbadger8685
      @matthewbadger8685 6 лет назад +1

      Whilst he's misguided in wanting it so early, it's not as far away as you may think. With learning algorithms and better computing available, as well as with a small 3d printer and the ability to harvest the required resources from the environment, i could see such robots working successfully as self-replicating devices.

      "We are legion, We are bob" style roamers.

    • @darken27
      @darken27 6 лет назад

      It is possible in theory. All of the components exist; the robot, the 3d printer, and the software capabilities to run pre-loaded programs to print the individual parts, however, assembly of the parts would be the main challenge, as well as the factor that the technology to print working circuit boards and wiring (to my knowledge) doesn't exist. Not to mention, the non-printed hardware required for assembly; bolts, nuts, camera, lights, etc, would need to come from elsewhere, or be fabricated in another way.
      I could see all this becoming extremely energy and resource intensive, and I don't think we currently possess wireless energy cells capable of producing such amounts of power. It would all have to be plugged in.
      A more realistic view would be fully automated production lines, that load, run, assemble, and produce units without human interference. Robots building robots identical to themselves.

    Very interesting how the genetic algorithm used to program its movement pattern produced something so similar to how spiders move.
    Convergent evolution at work.
    Though I did notice that it didn’t seem to react when one of its legs failed to support weight. (Stepped too far when crossing a gap.)
    A spider’s response in that instance would be to pause while it flails the leg to search for footing.

    Did anyone else imagine two HEXAs playing the piano in the background?

  • @icedragonaftermath
    @icedragonaftermath 6 лет назад

    Seems like it would make a solid rover. Maybe give it some way of collecting and doing preliminary tests and bagging samples. And it should be able to clean itself off afterwards.
    So I guess a preliminary chemical testing apparatus towards the front, a way of storing samples in the chest cavity for later processing, anti-static/hydrophobic skin, and bristles on its appendages to clean itself off.
    Basically, this thing needs to be able to eat and look a lot more like a spider.

  • @leafgreenbeast

    there's a good deal of sliding on the legs during the explore bit, perhaps you might need to consider a grippier material for the feet?

    • @epic0wnag
      @epic0wnag 6 лет назад +14

      Devo Castler picking up to many legs at once will reduce stability, but if it was moving faster in general momentum may be able to compensate for having less legs on the ground.

    • @khanch.6807
      @khanch.6807 6 лет назад +2

      Depends on the algorithm....U can make one though genetic computer learning in a simulation and test it on this robot.

    • @luisemoralesfalcon4716
      @luisemoralesfalcon4716 6 лет назад +1

      Devo Castler it might have to do with simultaneous coordination being a problem, nature has had millions of years to work with it.

    • @tristand9129
      @tristand9129 6 лет назад

      Devo Castler I think the only way to have fluid movements is to build self learning algorithms, like Google made with his informatic humanoid simulation (that learned how to walk and run by itself).
      As u can guess it doesn't exist for robots yet :')
      The result is what u said: some humanoids robots can do backflip (cause the movement has been entirely settled) but they need hours to take a few stairs (because they need to adapt to each situation and u can barely see the succession of loops in the algorithm through what the robot does).

      Give it 10 years, and maybe it will be as low as 100-200 for something like this. However, when that happens, newer, much more advanced robots will be on the market. Look at other RC devices; mediocre RC cars that you can find today for $50 would have cost several times more 10 years ago, when they were the top of the line in technological development.

How can anyone in good faith call this a "universal robot" if, even given the most amazing smartest AI in the world, it cannot fold laundry, do dishes, open doors, go up stairs, cook food, carry groceries, or pretty much ANYTHING we'd consider useful?

      The main reason why rubber feet cannot be used is because the robot needs to drag itself at points. For example, when the robot climbs it drags its back legs so it can climb easier.
