Best Day Ever Spearfishing Queensland Snapper

- Join me for my best day spearfishing the elusive Queensland snapper. The diversity of fish on offer to the spearfisherman off Brisbane in Queensland, Australia was certainly on display as good friend Andrew and I dived from sunrise to after sunset. While I shoot my bag-limit of snapper, we enjoy shooting other fish including cobia off the back of a bull shark, black-spot tuskfish and cod. There are plenty of hits and plenty of missed on this memorable day of diving.

I'm in love with the crisp and clear style of voice over and editing EG music, transitions, and of course fish clips! I'm definitely satisfied with this new style of vids! Stoked to see another vid of yours Tim!🤙
Thanks heaps mate!
Agreed!
I love how you show the misses and the bits that don't go according to plan. Makes it so much more authentic.
Definitely happens to us all, as painful as it is!!
I'm not here for spearfishing tips, just enjoying the amazing underwater footage and epic adventures
Another awesome video Tim. It’s great to see some very experienced Spearos producing epic content for everyone to follow along with.
Thanks mate
Great shooting as usual! We’ll have to do some proper filming of those things next year 👀
Your videos are addictive... nice one!!! Keep them coming... all the way from jamaica 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲
Thanks mate, glad your enjoying them!!
Excellent stuff Tim. Your vids (and Daniel Mann's) have inspired me to get back into it after a 40 year break! Techniques and technology have changed a lot so "how to" vids would be a big help.
Awesome mate!!!
Mate, I'm from South Africa and grew up spearing since the age of 6. I just love your content and I have seen plenty of footage but, yours is still the most favourite by far. Thank you, it's thrilling and very entertaining 🤘🤘
Cheers mate, really appreciate that!!
Tim you’re a bloody legend mate. Shoots from Central California.
Cheers mate! Glad we have you watching from over there!!
Magic😊, sard season here in south Africa ❤❤😂
Warch the teeth, no fear👍
i dont know why or how i got here but i like it!
surprised no bronzies following Snapper
Can you talk about dive buddy safety. How you choose a dive buddy, what protocols do you follow? Swimming with guns and not spearing each other etc. Other than sharks my biggest fear is my dive buddy spearing me.
Interesting topic, good thoughts!
You said the spot on thing Tim with those cod in quality eating procedure; putting them "in the esky for 2 days", because, paradoxically enough fresh fish are NOT the best eating fish. It is far better to have tender flesh through the enzyme softening effect which takes a couple of days. When cattle are slaughtered they are not eaten immediately but hung for up to a week. A home science teacher pointed that out to me with the tenderizing of fish. Something I always did with Jew & bream, not realizing why.
It’s so interesting hey!! Worth knowing
@Spearfishing-Downunder
Do you use a 7.1mm or 7.5mm shaft in your euro 120?
Hey mate I always use 7.5mm
Great video Tim, only one over 70cm, i think you said 75cm by mistake.
Yes your right, I definitely said that wrong 🤦🏽♂️
Awesome stuff Tim. Really enjoying the video's, they do a great job of keeping the no diving blues away until I can get in the water again. RE how to videos: lets have some insight of your aiming technique, especially after a shot like that.
Hey mate cheers
That sounds good
I assume there are lots of sharks since your in Australia. Do you encounter them and have they ever caused a problem?
Yeah mate, definitely sharks are a huge problem, one of my other recent videos sharks were out of control
Inspiring as always Tim, love your wrk mate😎
Cheers mate
Loving this format. Please keep them comming
Glad your enjoying it, definitely planning on keeping it coming. Posting 7am Saturday morning every fortnight
When did ya spear these Fish I thought they where out of season till 15 Aug mmmm
Hey mate, I speared them in May. Posted photo on my instagram when I shot them.
Hey Tim - you just popped up on my RUclips and I’ve just smashed 5 videos in a row on a Saturday night 🙏. Love your work. This channel has to get more subscribers.
I’m a scuba guy but I’m keen on getting into some spearfishing. I’m up on the sunny coast .
As a newbie I’m ok with free diving and buddy work etc but my biggest thing as a newbie is how to manage sharks , as a newbie. I’m not afraid of them as I’m in the water all the time, it’s more how you manage them when they come in on your fish etc
I’d love you to do a video on that AND I reckon it would pump up your channel for sure.
Thanks legend and I’m hooked on your channel 👍🏻
Cheers mate
Definitely something that we are planning on! So much footage I think we have a number of episodes about it!!
thanks legend, can't wait . And I'm 5 more videos down 😊@@Spearfishing-Downunder
nice
A Class spearing once again! Well done Tim! Epic shot at the end and that cod spot 🎉
Cheers mate
Hi Tim what does gutting the cod and leaving it n the esky do , I'm guessing they are still slimy. P.S. how do I stop the vanilla gorilla from defecating off the back of the boat just before we get in the water when spearing out of Townsville.
Gutting it makes the flesh really white! Leaving in the esky couple days makes the flesh relax and not chewy.
It’s impossible to stop the vanilla gorilla from doing anything 😂🤣😂😂
👍🤣
I love seeing cray dives/catches, more jew fish and kings
Sick vid bro 👌
I'm loving seeing the misses and frustration that we all experience. A-grade commentary and spearing Tim! I used to want moves like Jagger now I want moves like Macca;) -Shrek
😂😂 thanks Shrek
Awesome video! Epic as always 🔥
Cheers mate
Hey Tim and Co. Loving the episodes, would love to see local coral trout footage. They are pretty common on the sunny coast, but ive never seen any off brisbane - that would be wicked to see footage. Could you also discuss your sounding process? On a regular day out how much is exploring and how much is known spots. Sorry for the 101 questions, ill have plenty more coming!
Hey mate, sounds great!! Great ideas for future episodes
That last shot on the snapper was unreal 😮
Yeah stoked it worked the way it did!
Do you ever find snapper close to half way in the water column? How far off the bottom do they come up?
Hey mate, snapper will sit just under the surface if the conditions are right!
@Spearfishing-Downunder weird since I'm into my fishing I've had days that they hit the floater mid column but other days you have to be fishing hard on the bottom
@@Bluewater-fever yeah it’s so conditions dependent, I’ve seen them nearly tailing on the surface to like you say right on the bottom
Epic snapper footage Tim, love that shot from directly under the fish!
Cheers mate!!
Love it Tim. My nemesis is a big snapper. Thanks for the tips in this vid.
Awesome Episode Tim. I agree with what you said about cod being good to eat I prefer cod over barcheeks and tuskies.
Definitely agree
How To Idea:
How to find spots. What you look for when you are looking for spots or for different fish? E.g. bottom, currents, depths, weed etc.
Sounds great!!!
Legendary pastor Tim.
New subsciber, That was some amazing stuff to watch and we are moving to Bundaberg area and I have wanted to have a crack at spearfishing. Trying to find out information seems very daunting so any suggestions on how and what gear to start out with would always be extremely helpful,
Cheers Garry
Bundy is a great area for diving, need to travel a bit in the boat in summer
Get onto dive and spear in 1770
Excellent video. What boat are you using and how far offshore do you go? I'm still getting confident with boating, went out 30km last time no troubles but would like to go wider.
I have a Haines 17r
WILD!!!!!!
love your work Tim
Love these videos! I like hearing you talk through what is happening and it helps us learn from your experience! Thanks!
Glad your getting a lot out of it!!
Amazing how many fish there is
Another great video mate.
keep it up tim!
Awesome video. Very informative dawn and dusk for reds. Can’t believe the straight up shot. Do you ever burly for reds?
The sharks are so bad up here, very hard to chum for snapper here.
@@Spearfishing-Downunder yeah the same here we use lobster heads and octopus which works really well without the shark problem
Great video 🤙🏼
So good man! That last shot was nuts hahaha
Yeah so tough those ones!!
Love the videos, super entertaining from start to finish. Am planning on visiting queensland at the end of the year for some spearfishing, what depth should I need to be comfortable hunting in?
If you can hunt up to 15 meters you will be fine for hunting pelagic fish in brissy
@@Spearfishing-Downunder do you have an Instagram I can follow?
instagram.com/timothy3mcdonald?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==
Do you use burley for snapper?
No mate, sharks are way to bad for that
Should be illegal - the kill rate too high for the species to survive. I guess we can hope a tiger shark evens the count
You are smoking lad, you clearly don’t know how hard it is to shoot snapper, they are a very deep and very, very smart fish.
Tim’s an international legend loved and respected around the world .. and you’re an ignorant fool for wishing harm on him for no reason
The fact you have 12k subs should be illegal this channel will blow up ya just hit the algo for me
Cheers mate, appreciate that!
