Glad John is part of Team DF. We have very similar tastes overall, and John’s tipped me off to certain games over my years of watching I probably would have missed otherwise.
Onimusha was the highlight for me! The original is pretty much a perfect game in my book. Replayed the Xbox version many times over the years until my Xbox bit the dust.
I would love a new Shinobi game. The last one I recall was the one I played back in the day, Shinobi 3. And boy did I play that one. On the hardest difficulty, with zero starting lives, zero starting shurikens, and the smallest amount of life. And somehow I still beat the Shadow Master. Yep, pretty sure I peaked back then. 😂
Good list. Pretty much the only games announced worth any attention where all from Eastern devs, or a Western dev doing a new version of a legacy Eastern IP.
oh that Turok game is soooo bad in the trailer! totally cashgrab. 3rd person? i hope someone makes a 1st person mod as soon as the game launches! anyway the game reminds me of turok 2008, but even worse.
"The game awards" are everything wrong with gaming. There is a reason they are and always have been so cringe-inducing. It's because in an industry built on passion, the most exploitative elements have taken the reins, and nowhere in the industry is it more blatant than the place where they decided to take everything people hate about shit like the oscars like how boring and self-important they are, and strip everything that made gaming culture unique or interesting away from it, so you can shill for whoever pays you the best this year. And even if that last part is hyperbolic, it's still boring garbage hijacking our culture and driving it directly off a cliff of stupidity and cringe.
"Hijacking our culture" That tells me where your problem is. You have a specific view of what gaming SHOULD be. Gaming culture is different for different people who like similar games for different reasons, and completely different for people who like a completely different style of games. The Game Awards are just time and place where a bunch of people gather to acknowledge certain games of note, and also take a look at games to come. Just like with the Oscars, you can still be a movie fan and love movies and not care about an awards show. Liking something and being into awards shows for that thing are not exclusively linked. You can like different things. Repeat after me: "it's ok if other people like things I don't like, and I don't like things that other people do like. Not everything is for everyone. I can like what I like and not be toxic about it."

Got examples from the video?
I would agree. John really has opened my eyes to a lot of retro games I wouldn’t have considered, and ended up enjoying quite a bit.
Project Century looks awesome

Onimusha.
I'm pretty excited to see more. Looks like '25 might be the best gaming year in some time.
yea the biggest year since 2023!
Kamiya: They keep askin' if I'm back.. yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back!
I had no Hype for the Okami sequel but I bought it on Switch out of pure curiosity and it's such a beautiful and fun game

He probably knows now but clovers is not a capcom subsidiary.
New not-team Ico game stuck with me the most

you picked the WRONG games

waaaaa, waaaaaa, waaaaa
You're crazy, it looks good. You just hate it cuz it's not first person.
@@JeannieLove not really that turok vibe from the first 3 games. and 3rd person is totally a no. it's like gears of wars suddenly became 1st person.
It definitely didn’t look like turok and the 3rd person really hit the final nail. But seeing as this is its first showing I’ll hold judgment.

Your game didn’t get nominated or something?
You picked a strange year to rant about the VGA's because this show was actually good.
I bet you are a salty Wukong glazer.

John likes the actual GOOD games shown at TGAs 😅🤣🤣🤌
