      I had that happen to me. When I was 20 in the late 90s, I had a 1954 Chevy belair coupe. Broke down in the middle of know where driving from Indiana back to Virginia. Ended up paying just over $500 to get towed 300+ miles to get it back to my house so I wouldn't have to wait around for parts to ship to some local mechanic in hopes they could fix it, while racking up hotel bills, etc. You live & you learn.

    I got fascinated by gold some 20+ yrs ago and bought a 1 oz Krug for 300. Couple years later looked thru an online Heritage auction and bought a $20 St Gaudens and a $10 Indian. I realized these purchases were not hurting me financially and then I read one of James Turk's books where he outlined the eventual collapse of the USD and I decided to keep buying to protect my family. I remember when gold hit $1000 sometime around 2009, here we are now at $2000. We'll never see 3-digit gold again, any more than we'd see 2-digit gold.

      @@SilverBritches Every American should be scared shitless at the rate of change in US debt; they just raised the debt ceiling on 3 June, and we've already blown past $32.6 Trillion. The world is watching, and this comes around again in about 18 months. FedNow is here and I don't know when that will be implemented, but digital currency is on the way and it's just a different form of debt. Yeah, SHTF isn't the most likely scenario for you needing to break into your Gold. It's really going to be more about job losses, car repairs, roof repairs, central air, etc... That's where I've already used my metals myself. The main thing is that this is insurance that holds its value over time and isn't given to the same kind of long-term and unending devaluation that dollars have been going through for 100+ years. Regarding Gold in SHTF, it's during a period of total chaos that Gold probably wouldn't be useful. But at some point, civilization or just some level of normalcy reappears over time. At that point, you will have brought wealth from the past into the future, and you have stored purchasing power than can be used. In whatever circumstance, Gold is a useful item to have in the moment or in moments to come that aren't too far away. I reached the 5 ounce mark many years back. Now, I'm shooting for 240 ounces. I don't know that I'll ever actually reach that goal, but at least it gives me something to shoot for. Good video!

    • @DavidSmith-pg1ob
      @DavidSmith-pg1ob 11 месяцев назад

      Cryptos worth even less in SHTF scenarios though. Most people don't realize that if the internet goes down, Cryptos are worthless (untradeable) until it comes back up again.

    • @veritasfiles
      @veritasfiles 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@DavidSmith-pg1ob Yeah, well, cryptos are just a way of trying to substitute for real money using a contrived decentralized digital asset that attempts to mimic of nature of true money. Nowadays, I believe it's difficult to even buy 1/2 ounce of gold for a lot of people. It's very easy to loose a small coin. So I think silver is an easier and more attainable investment than gold for a lot of people.
    I see buying silver as putting money, real money, onto savings. Because if any monetary system fails, silver is silver, while paper is worthless.

    I completely agree. 5 is a great starting goal and one I'm currently working towards. Over halfway there now and chugging away at it. Was doing the monthly gold purchase challenge and made it 17 consecutive months but life happened and August will be the first month I won't be able to get a piece. I have to catch up on other expenses that I wouldve normally put towards increasing that stack. I'm just hoping to catch up sooner than it's looking like so I can get back to finishing this fractional tube of eagles. Great video brother and beautiful stack of stuff there. Love that revolver coin. I bought one and sold it for a GREAT profit and was kicking myself in the ass because I only had the one, so decided to pull the trigger and get another, but now I'm thinking I'd like to get another one just so when it comes time to flip the second one I'll still have one in my personal collection. Any idea on when the next coin in the Weapons of War series is coming out? I heard it may be a AK-47 or an AR-15 but haven't heard when it'll be available to buy. On my limited income I have to plan my "extra" expenses a couple months in advance.

There have been a few hiccups along the way, where I had an emergency and had to sell some. Thankfully it was there when I needed it. In 2021 I reached my ultimate goal in stacking. Today I concentrate more on collectible vintage coins and bars. Newfoundland $2 gold coins and Engelhard, any size, are my favorites. My core stack is in safe places, for if it's needed.

      Which came first, the debt up to their ears or the lack of capitalization? Everyone with an income of any kind has the ability to get out from under the traps of finance cost, inflation and ultimately taxes (FIT) Everyone should be pursuing becoming their own private bank at the scale that their income allows. Eventually, control of those FIT headwinds become within your control rather than being a slave to them. Risk free, tax free return on reserves is a beautiful thing… then with sufficient capital backing up your play, opportunities for greater and greater spread will hunt you down.

Now we are on a fixed income and when we buy ,we buy fractionals. The thing about fractionals is that not only are they cheaper but they are also more liquid. Tried to be smart, save money, pay cash for our property, have no debt and plan ahead. Like to collect 'sets' and then start a new one. A set consisting of $10 in 90% half dollars, $10 in Silver quarters and $10 in dimes, a couple rolls of wheat pennies and war nickels too, 200 oz of Silver (mostly Eagles), 3 ounces of Gold, some Platinum and $5k in cash.

I think personally that gold is a better thing to hold for emergency savings excetera excetera... and Silver's more of a speculative Holdings being that it should be higher but probably won't because of the manipulation... hopefully that makes sense anyway thought I would ask and see what your thoughts were on this.. I would argue that most people don't need 5 oz of gold unless you live in an unstable country. What you need is easy access to emergency savings. And/or a low-interest, high-balance credit card or two. Lots of people would count themselves lucky if they could obtain 4x 0.25 troy ounces of gold coinage over time. It's pretty easy to hide/store that amount. However, there's a *lot* of other things in life that come up to spend paycheck money on. And if it comes time to sell in a short-timeframe emergency, you might lose money on the deal depending on the day's spot price. Worst case scenario, if someone finds out you're hoarding gold they might come after -you- first if S DOES HTF. Diversify. Find a site or financial institution that does over 4% APY and put a few thousand in that, then you're at least getting interest monthly.

    During the post-WWI Weimar Republic in Germany, hyperinflation made currency absolutely valueless (ditto Zimbabwe in the early 00s). What did people value (in both instances)? Gold. In Weimar Germany, you could buy a hotel or a factory for a few Gold coins. Yes, in a SHTF situation, lacking stacks of Benjamins, Gold will be the "Big Money." Silver (and possibly Copper) will be everyday money, because barter SUCKS. =^[.]^=

    U can't divide gold enough make it spend able for small frequent ourchases
    U mentioned cashing it out as though it is easy let alone realistically feasible
    There are much better assets than gold for the common man (e.g. guns bullets bitcoin cars land homes water toilet paper ppes etc. All of which you would prefer to swap gold for.... why not just hold these things instead?
