    Most controllers output a max of 40 amps .The specs of that converter show 20 amp max output so you will get a decrease in torque as a sacrifice

  • @Hoggdoc1946
    @Hoggdoc1946 2 года назад +6

    You had better be darn sure the controller can handle the increased voltage or it will expel magic smoke.

    unfortunatly that battery wont be able to supply enough current and in real world you might see 2 or 3 kms more but with significant reduced battery capacity, its a nice what the hell project though, those boosters are good quality and ive used cpl in various projects,made a 25.4 cc chain saw motor with rewound 500watt bafang front hub motor into generator with 40amp model booster, out putting 82volt .can remove the batteries from my enduro ebike frame and fit the little gen unit inside and power the bike just on that filled the exhaust with steel wool so can hardly hear it .If could make it electric start it would be awesome,but it wouldnt fit then,

  • @MrBears1024
    @MrBears1024 3 года назад +3

    That sounds like it can damage the hub motor and possibly damage battery. But for sure I think that will drain the battery extremely fast

    • @hackervirus56
      @hackervirus56 2 года назад

      Battery no
      Controller maybe
      Hub motor maybe
      I myself have this exact same booster and have been doing similarly.

    • @MrBears1024
      @MrBears1024 2 года назад +2

      @@hackervirus56 I just figured it would drain the battery too fast and damage the cells. But other than that probably would have a dead battery in under a mile 😆

      The only way to mess a hub up is amperage, volts don't matter motors have no voltage limiter. The heat from the amperage draw usually melts the coating off the coils.

    Another thing is that you show your speedometer going up to 40mph. Well my front hub ebike motor easily hits 40 mph if I give it full throttle, as I hold the front wheel off the ground. Which from the sound of it, that is what you are doing in your video...No booster needed to do that trick...

    • @travisdonley8768
      @travisdonley8768 2 года назад +2

      Yeah, I imagine he didn't do a road test because there wasn't any gain to be had. Voltage is boosted at the expense of amps at hand, "impressive" if you're freewheel spinning motors with no load, but doubtful it increases top speed or acceleration

    • @DikTrom
      @DikTrom Год назад

      that means you dont have enough current, the motor wants to spin at a fixed speed always, only current starvation can prevent it or it takes a long time to get at top rpm. With enough current there is no difference in top speed with wheel off or on the ground. It depends on the c factor of the battery that is usually guarded by the bms.

  • @jamesmartin3239

    I don't know much about it but the booster itself can you get them out of fan and stuff around your house like appliances or whatever

  • @Zeioth
    @Zeioth 2 года назад

    I've seen some people getting +33% speed with this. I would look that capacitors/transistors can handle it, and then unlock the maximum speed on the display (this can be done in bafang and others)

    • @katiekumcgil
      @katiekumcgil 2 года назад +1

      Then have to factor in the increase in speed will now be converted to significant reduced travel distance, adding a second battery in series is better option as long as add diodes between batteries to isolate from back charging.

  • @abhivyas11

    Which controller you use is it 48v or 60v?

    • @Zeioth
      @Zeioth 2 года назад +2

      Controllers normally allow +25% voltage than recommended. To make sure, you just have to open the controller, and look at the capacitors. The maximum voltage is written on them.

  • @tonymark1526

    These types of boosters aren’t terribly efficient. Besides the potential to damage the controller, this will definitely lower your range. Why not just increase the current to the motor from the controller?

  • @mattivirta
    @mattivirta 2 года назад +1

    not help lot, need change controller biggest motor controller if before has 1000W change 2000W and then increase volts 48volt to 60 volt or 72 volt. looking new controller have 2000W and 60volt or 72 volt controller then increase better not burn controller sure, and next buy biggest volt battery or made diy. because booster increase volt but decrease current not strong.

    Need your help please....I have a swagger 5 scooter...36v..250w..it goes up to 18.5 mph on the screen,I know it can go faster cause the hub starts to keep rising in speed then slows down right after it's peak to a steady speed of 18.5mph,so there is a speed limiter somewhere right?.... Basically what do I have to do for my scooter to reach it's full potential (with it's stock controller)?

    In France you would get up to 2 years prison sentence for making an e-bike exceed 25kph - a teenage lad died on a hotted ebike - one of many - cycles were just not made to handle that power and drivers no tested for skill

    If I put this on my 48volt controller that only has 60v capacitors , will it damage my control box, because the way I see it that there will be 2 control boxes on my bike doing the same job ? How does this make it go fast when it only has 20amps and my control box has 45amps , will that make my bike a 65amps.

    • @mattivirta

      simple change transistors/fets handle biggest current, 9 fet have in one side to board, looking how much data sheet this fets can run maximum and change all biggest then change 3 cabasitor 60volt maybe have change 100 volt handle capasitors, and then solder shunt wire little more copper shunt can handle more current. then not burn you controller and increase speed, and battery volt need increase too
