as a librarian I have this urge to crawl through the screen and organize your books, but if you know where things are and you are reading, that's all that matters in the end! I secretly always wanted to live like a wizard surrounded by the many books of my travels. If it makes sense to you, you are winning!

Tbh I actually appreciate seeing your office in the unorganized state that it is because it shows that you actually use the space and read the books that you have on your shelf rather than decorating your office with books to LOOK smart (like some people) lmao. Im 17 and you and your channel really inspire me to read, write and learn to be as smart and aware of my life and the world as I can be.

I am definitely interested in a deeper tour. Take your time - we aren't going anywhere. Sprinkle in a shelf tour. Just one shelf at a time. Discuss the author, the book's premise, perhaps a reading of the opening paragraph, take-aways from the book (if already read) or what you hope to learn (if not already read), and how you're applying the knowledge learned. This doesn't have to take place in one video . . . again, take your time. We love it here!

Honestly, it looks beautiful to me. The choas of all of these books being scattered everywhere in the room feels intense and fun.
The only thing thats getting me is books on the floor. I get so anxious with books on the floor.
Other than that, thank you for this. A humble and honest tour.

Hey. I really enjoyed the tour, love the all the books. Just a couple of suggestions. You can add glass doors to a few bookcases just to protect the most valuable books in the collection. In terms of organisation, if the shelves are deep enough, I’d add risers at the back of of them to put books on, and then create a second row at the front. That way, you double the shelf space (just l make sure the books aren’t too heavy). Hope this helps. :)

This could be the perfect space for a design RUclipsr to come over and take over and design it. I envision one of those walls like in librarys where the wall actually moves and there is even more storage behind it. A whole custom wall full of books with more space behind it to put more. Than a RUclipsr style desk with the mic, and the camera and all that sort of things for you to do your recordings and your RUclips videos, and then a lounge area for you to enjoy reading your books. A nice leather sofa (or more if you plan to have people over) and a circular marble or concrete heavy coffee table. Everything painted dark navy blue, giving academia vibes, a brick accent wall behind your desk so your background looks great on video with your lightsaber as an accent light and your favorite art pieces behind. And some other place to showcase your leather bags.

Some people have a place or desk, that shows everything is in place, but when they look for something, they have to think of where they have "placed it" and other looks like its a mess, but they know exactly where to find everything in a sec. ❤❤❤

    A few things:
    1) More Frank Frazetta art!
    2) You should invest in those shelves that are in most university libraries with the cranks to consolidate everything! Probably not ideal, but could help?
    3) Do you recommend an Epictetus Discourse edition that's not Penguin? The version I have doesn't have all of it and I want to absorb everything!

    Hello 👋
I got some ideas for you take the longer wall in your office make it a library wall. Then take the smaller bookshelf as a project area. Label the shelf on the type of book you have. Use one desk to do RUclips filming. And take the 2nd desk as no tech desk. Only reading and writing. As for your Dune collection, get those clear display boxes, put your books in them, and glue it on the wall.

This is in no way meant to criticize or hurt you, or anyone else either for that matter. This is just my observation, should it be of any use to you or anyone else who reads this:
I love a little chaos like this, but here's an idea if you want to organise all of it. All three walls of this room can have floor to ceiling bookcases, either deep enough for one novel, or deep enough for two, neither of those depths would crowd the room. The tables can stay, or later-on you can replace them with a sleeker design to make the space seem more spacious, or with tables with shelves or cabinets underneath for extra storage. And the bookcase outside the office room can be replaced with a display case, where you can display all your medals in tiny boxes, so each one is visible, and your figurines will have their own dedicated space too. A display case also helps keep dust out, so you can just leave everything as it is and not have to clean it any time soon. But I must say, this is a great collection, and you have done justice to everything you own.
Right now, the room looks great, but large parts of the walls aren't being utilised, and the floor space is crowded. You might be alright with it, and it does look great in my opinion, but in the long term, it might sub-consiously overwhelm you and hinder productivity. That has happened to me before. If you prefer floor seating, then it might help to remove one table and create some empty space there, with or without a carpet.

    • @alexandra_symphony
      @alexandra_symphony 6 месяцев назад

Once again, like everyone else said this too, the room looks great, and I, too, would love to have an unorganized reading/office room. Sometimes, unorganisation might help us better. So, whatever you suits you.
Btw, your office is actually pretty organised, considering you know where everything is.

As a german philosophy student, I just needed to see your Kant books to approve.
Jokes aside, I'd love to get some reading recommendations, especially in the theology/philosophy of mind department.

Love your content! I have a much smaller but growing library of theology and others, and some additions have been made due to your channel. You should do a video comparing systematic theologies. Also, do you have an estimate of how many books you own?

📚📚📚 this is cool. I don’t like I’m alone having book all over the place.
I’d like to see how you “process” a book. What’s you strategy in taking notes. Do you usually read a book based on a specific goal or need or do you generally read until an idea pops up and develop it?

Had “Bondage of the Will” in another room entirely from the Calvin shelf. Funny.

The room seems perfect to me. Here's a question, I'm also a huge Dune fane, have you read the Dorsai series i.e Tactics of Mistake. Quite close to the ideas of Dune. The stories revolve around the Dorsai - mercenaries for hire. They are brilliant books. The books came out as serialised stories in Analog (I think) around the same time as Dune.

Clutter usually drives me insane. I can make a slight exception for books, because you gotta admit, stacks of books luing around does have a scholarly aesthetic to it.
I dont know about the floor though...haha

Hi Parker just discovered your channel and subscribed. Can you do a video on the best 10 or 20 books that changed your life/the way you think please? Talk to us about which ones are they, why they had such an impact on you etc. Thank you!

I enjoyed your book tour. It was fun. And made me feel better. I too have more books and journals than space. We just need more room. But then of course, we would just buy more books and soon we would need to move again. My interests are political philosophy, history, AI, and literature and distopian novels. Also like you I have many journals going at once. And I’m always worried I will run out of my journals so I’m always buying more. Anyways, thanks for sharing your office. I enjoy your videos.
