  • This is the bulk of the work of our dear detectives in The Wire (HBO series 2002-2007). It's number codes sent to pagers on Sn1, text messages to cell phones (burners) on Sn3 and photos on Sn5. One way or another they manage to crack the code but convict criminals with them is another much more complicated task.

I loved how they took Prez, a complete fuck up at the beginning, and he found his niche in the unit becoming invaluable. Until he shot that other cop that is

It just shows that not everyone is meant to work on the street, not all crimes are solved by busting people on the street. Prez clearly had no business being on the street, his specialty was behind a desk, there is nothing wrong with that. Just think about how many cops you have seen that clearly have no people skills and have no business pulling people over, detaining them or arresting them.

just as genius as it was for them to crack the code is actually how Stringer’s crew actually came UP with the code in the first place.

It’s great how once Carver and Jimmy took in the information from Prez and Lester, they were able to arrive independently at the code once it had been made clear.

@@811chelseafc Definitely NOT "natural po-lice". Prez is a fuck up...with somewhat of a good heart. Funny how he brags on spending 5 hours cracking the teenage boys' code but emerges feeling like HE is the one who's smart and that the kids are "mopes" and "dumb".

@@torniketsirekidze1525 No. I think YOU missed the "part". How does having a mentor make you smart??? How does getting outsmarted all season by some kids make him smarter than THEY? Prez was an idiot. He got outsmarted by teens on the street and then in the classroom. Sorry if he was your hero. Generally speaking the street players were smarter than the cops. Prez wasn't even smart for a cop, he was one of the dumbest.

And the first digit can identify enough people I think. 1=I, 2=Z,3=E,4=H,5=S,6=G,7=L
