Hello there. I’m from Brasil and this is one the most affordable single malts we have in stores. This is the second time I have been enjoying this bottle. First time I was very disappointed for I was drinking it along with Glendronach 12 and Aberlour 12. Of course it is no match for those 12 years beasts, but it is sensibly cheaper. Now I bought a new bootle and, having expectations turned to the right point, I am enjoying it. I would say there is some alcohol perception in the smell. But once you get through the alcohol, it is possible to enjoy some sherry notes. I think it’s a good deal for it’s price.
Gifted a bottle of this from my Son for my 67th Birthday drinking it right now, I'm a Glenfarclas Man the King of Malt Whisky but Tamnavulin batch 0308 is not far off the mark, Very Good Whisky, Thanks for posting you know your Whisky.
This review was on spot! I just had a sip and it’s on spot. For 30€ it’s a bargain so check it out, you might enjoy it! It’s not like Cragganmore or Glenfarclas but more on a fruity note with apples, pears, almonds… pretty complex nose but the taste itself goes more for oak and dryness… anyway it’s good.
super smooth, super mellow. its a bit sweet. not a very complex flavor, but it is nice. speaking as someone who is more of a beer drinker, i liked this a lot.
I have to say had I watched your video and listened to your comments before I tried it I wouldn't have tried this whiskey. I did get the fruity aromas you mentioned but the main difference I found was in the taste. I found a very mellow almost sweet taste, very nice indeed not at all bitter.
It's a very nice whisky, I'm drinking it right now. It's rich, fruity, it definitely does the job. I'm loving it so far. I paid £20 coz it's on offer. Good price I guess.
At the moment twenty pounds in ASDA supermarket and worth it when you see it sat next to that dreadful Jack Daniels motorbike fuel for the same price! Nice gentle oiliness alcohol a little sharp oaky and well worth that kind of money.
5:17 - "And then you really get hit by the oak." That is going to hurt! A decent drink after that would benefit you greatly. A good comprehensive review chaps, nicely done. I rather enjoy this whiskey. It's not a very pricey bottle in the UK, about £20 and readily available so it's a good option as a regular drop.
Absolutely agree - you can tell by the immaturity of the cask with that massive oak punch. I can’t seem to taste a lot more other than a massive punch of oak and bitter finish. I would say it’s about 4-5 years old. I personally won’t be buying this again. Let’s hope they produce some age statement bottling’s in the near future.
I really only drink Speysides and this is one of the best bargains around, it's the one I drink regularly as well as Glenlivet. I don't know who's been telling you anything different, maybe they are not into Speysides? It definitely has to be tried. as taste is so subjective but my seasoned whisky friends all really enjoy it too. I usually pick it up on Amazon for £20 all in - www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MXU6WV9/?coliid=IVBZ48GOM8J4A&colid=GS30WSRZGOQN&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
@@gianniverschueren870 I'm not a fan of blends. I've never paid more than £20 for Tamnavulin. It's not Glenfiddich, Aberlour or my perosnal fav Cardhu but it is light like Glenlivet FR and I don't always want something with more weight behind it. I'd take it over most blends though. As you know, taste is subjective and there are plenty of people that enjoy it, and plenty of whiskys if you don't.
I bought this for £20 yesterday in Asda. For the money you can’t complain but it’s really nothing special. The finish is weak and the Oak hits through a bit too hard. Quite honestly Aldi Highland black for £13 is much better. However the Tamnavulin Tempranillo cask you can get in the airport travel value (1L bottle) is much much better and worth every penny.
I would say it is worth the price list of £30-£35, being in permanent £10 off sale make it a bargain! Regarding the review, well done...not sure I agree with the "nutty" though...
@World Class Satanist There is no age statement. In my experience there are 2 reasons distilleries do that: 1. Cash-flow problems, so they create a seasonal no-age that blends some younger casks. 2. They mix old (sometimes very old) and younger casks to achieve what they are looking for, hence an age statement wouldn't do justice to the quality. I would risk to say in the Tamnavulin double cask case, it is the latter.
@@jackbackband7733 The average drinker wouldn't be able to tell the difference between batch 308 and batch 805 but these guys I bet can tell the difference.

Just bought this last month and enjoying my first dram while watching Horst and Ben. Good value for just €30.
You weren't kidding with the oak, almost tastes like i bit into my dining room table, good whiskey, the sherry cask is very subtle
