- This is my 2005 Chevy Astro Van. It’s built up for camping and long road trips. I haven’t seen a conversation with this lay out before, and thought I would share my build. I filmed this in one take, there may be a few awkward pauses.
Van will be for sale this summer 2021 in Vancouver BC. mikeroyanderson@gmail.com
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my password. I love any tips you can give me.
@Alexander Daniel thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Alexander Daniel It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Crosby Cesar you are welcome :)
I recently discovered the Astro craze and this is my favorite build so far, what a sweet van
Agreed 👍
I'am Your Newest Subscriber Great Videos. I Just Bought A 1995 Astro Jayco Conversion Van 115k Miles Rustfree Florida Van
very nice build my friend, thank you for sharing i really like the fold up bed design 👍
I really appreciate the bed design! Nice job. Happy journeys✋👍
Best idea yet about having the ability to fold stuff away so you can use the van for errands and such
Awesome bed design. Thanks for the video. Very good use of space.
Resourceful, creative and fairly simple. Great work!
Dude! I want this exact set-up for my van
I just had to move out and just barely had time to throw my sleeping bag in the back of my work van after I cleared the floor of my tools. I have nothing but the bag and a foam cushion.
Thanks so much. This is the best Build that I've seen so far. Love it!
You started similar to me
Wow I love your setup in your van this is what I want in my van
Love these ASTROS & GMC SAFARI VANS. Loved them so much I bought one of each. Great practical choice.
Affordable, good gas mileage, and can park them everywhere.
Drop down bed is very tempting ! So many different layouts considering its just a small space, love your van!!
Cool build I like the open floor plan
Those vans great, they'll literally run forever if you keep up with the maintenance!
Well done man! Creative build and great use of space.
Nice build you thought of everything, especially like the fold up bed idea fantastic allows it to still be used as a van with little effort ,thanks for sharing Dale
Great build. The only things I would change are the bulky bed feet. I'd do a hinged storage shelf that turns into the legs. I'd pad and put a folding back on the storage box to be a chair. I'd make a fold down table on the bottom of the bed when in storage mode.
Look into turning the passenger seat around. It makes for a great place to sit and read in the van. Its a easy 4 bolts. I keep a wrench specific for it under the seat. It only takes 10 min to make the change.
Thank you! Very creative use of space. Can I ask what kind of heater you use in the winter?
Yeah nice build! Really likethe leather pouches etc.; Nice simple organized easy build. Love these kind of builds where it’s simple you have access to everything and it’s not cluttered.
I'm liking that bed design.
Excellent build, fam💪🏻!
Thx4sharing from another Astro Vanlifer in Calgary
I love it very simple but with everything
Thank you for sharing. Good luck and stay safe.
I think your design is the best I have seen so far. It makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing!
like the build and the bed a great idea. thanks for the video
Like the way your bed is so quick to put down & up ! U could put one of those cushion chairs in there to sit on too to leave bed up. Like your build alot.
I would love to see more about the roof rack. Working on converting my 94 Astro and roof space has been a struggle between fan, solar, awning, and gear
Good use of space...kudos...l used to own a Astro.
Nice build! All useable space 👍
Love the way you kept it so simple , what do you use for a heater in the colder weather .
Sweet Astro! Love what you did with the roof!! Your interior build is nice! Storage is crucial in this little vans!
Yo I love this open concept/multi use approach. Trying to accomplish the same principles in my build. Its been a challenge for sure :) beautifully done my man!
Great build man!!
It's a very manly kind of homey build! Like Little House on the Prairie, but on Wheels! Awesome 👍!
Nice Job! Happy Travels
That little dial for the fan is sweet, Could you tell me where you got it?
picture frame around fan. Brilliant!
Nice van!
Great Job...Love the Build!
Nice! I especially love the roof rack - where/how did you attach it to the roof? I assume you made sure to secure it to the interior cross beams? Also assuming you found ways to protect the metal and seal it thoroughly. Am looking for a solution to my Astro that has no gutters or included roof rails. Nice job! I may be stealing an idea or two.... :)
I like my 2004 Astro. I cannot imagine not having a van again. They are great rigs. Have you had problems with the ignition when it rains? I was getting moisture in the distributor cap. I might have fixed the problem by buying original chevy distributor cap and rotor. I put a thin coating of dielectric grease around the base of the distributor cap. I might have solved my own problem. 187K miles and it runs like a champ.
@@mikeanderson2000 Thanks for that, I had considered that but didn't know it it would work. When the problem comes up again that is what I will do.
Great job, love it. This looks like was I need for my T5. Hope the wheelchair battery saved you some money over a leisure battery, but I know these are pretty pricey too.
Soooooo many questions! I dig the electrical works you did and the wood work is excellent! I’m about to be starting my own “hopefully”🙏🏼 a guy might trade my 06 civic for his 97 Astro.
Anything I should check on these things specifically upon buying it?? Engine or suspension or anything??
Anything helps! Mahalo!
Sweet build! My astro looks/feels so crammed compared to yours!!!
Cool vanHome... but the framing for the fan is the coolest. I gotta borrow it. Thankhz for sharing. Wholeness n Essence of Love ((-;
You're really talented
Paused Video: I have a 1999 I think it is... I am thinking of doing a convert to extended stay camping rig and make a hobby of watching builds in general. I think what you have here is really neat and I like the practicality. For now I am forced to make my rig a work rig and do some possible light duty mobile repairs (in automotive for almost 50 yrs) ... anyway, One thing I did a couple of weeks ago is turned the passenger seat around 180 degrees. I bolts right up and I can slide it (forward (to the back of the rig)) and still see the right mirror or forward with it tilted all the way back. So, you could have a place to sit without bunking down or using something... but I am a one person operation and don't need a huge bunk etc... but I like the fold up big time... back to unpause... LifePO4 is the way to go.
I'm looking at the same model....only the AWD version. Man, can't believe there isn't a current mfg. offering 4x4 vans. Choices thin; I'm even considering Dolicas. (RH drive, but full 4x4. Used/imported into the Seattle area from JDM/Japan.)
Sick build! Love that folding bed design. How big is that bed btw?
He said it’s a double in the video
Mike, nice job leaving a lot of usable space inside. How did you figure out the angles for the bracket for the gas strut? Your bed idea is something I plan on doing because I want more space during the day. Looks comfortable and I like the fold up table on the door. Having a place to put things like a computer or a drink certainly comes in handy. Cheers.
@@mikeanderson2000 Thank you for your reply. The info about stronger brackets/hinges is useful. Trial and error works. Cheers!
If you google teardrop trailer hatch gas strut calculator, it is pretty easy to find a calculator already made for gas strut size and placement. I'm pretty sure this would apply. Maybe you could try it out and make a RUclips video showing the calculator. You could also make plans and sell them.
@@secondact7151 Thank you for this valuable information! I will check the site out. Cheers.
Good job.
Hey man, just wondering what sort of attachment you used to hang the bed up once it's folded up? I've built the same sorta thing and I'm not sure how I'm gonna secure the bed to the wall yet
This is dope. I’ve got a ‘92 Astro I’m wanting to convert. What’s the best way to contact you on some questions on where to start?
when did you buy the astrovan? how many miles were on it and did you have to do any specific maintenence prior to the build? is it a rougher ride after adding the weight? thanks i am considering this van for a build
Hats off to you. very very real and down to earth van build thanks , can you mention the bed name that you got on amazon please. thanks again b safe
Thanks, this is it... www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B005G5RZIY/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
how long it took to build the bed, yeah dude what brand is te ice chest is kool
Good ideas
very nice!
Wow, didn’t think Andy Bernard from the office would be into van life.
Great video . Hope u don't mind as i copy some of ur ideas on my econoline .
Nice
Thought the square headlights were only up to like 1998?
like the leather
Bravo
What brand and size wheels? They look goog
Very nice, what's the mpg of these little vans.
What is the origin of the green bins? What search term would I use to look for as second-hand?
I got them at an army surplus store. I think they held soldiers belongings like a suitcase. They have people’s names on them in permanent marker
@@mikeanderson2000 OK. Previously owned is excellent! Thank you.
What size bed is it? I like that. thanks
It’s a “double” or a “full” depending where you live.
ayo bro, how tall are you? I was thinking of getting an astro, but I'm 6'3
Put a fiberglass plastic top or flip up top on one
that should make it give you enough room. Good luck your going to love it.
很棒的工作
Do you have a cook stove and a place to cook?
I like the ideas but idk about unique haha
Name of refrigerator please.
alpicool c20
Why?
Forget it
I love it, but its not cozy and homey at all 😩
That’s your opinion! I find it super cozy with wood walls and ceiling, it feels like being in a little cabin at night. Very cozy I think..
@@mikeanderson2000 im so envious of your lifestyle, enjoy it, be safe🙏
