my custom signature cymbal setup from meinl is now complete and available to everyone.they are truly amazing instruments and i worked very closely with meinl on these. now after years of modifying ,sandpapering, heating, even hammerig cymbals myself its finally done. im very thankful to the company and in this clip (besides the info about the new cymbals) i tried to sneek in a lot of playing for you. so i hope you enjoy.

Anytime I feel cocky about my playing, I just watch Benny Greb play and then I am humbly reminded that I need to practice..lol
I'm reminded that I could practice for the next 100 years and never get Benny's groove
Even his voice is musical!
2:52 holy fuck. bending it like that is incredible.
+Lukas T I wouldn't recommend doing this in case you're not sponsored in particular ;D
I could listen to Benny and Frank jam all day. They groove with each other so well.
He incorporates every possible sound of every piece of the kit. It's amazing.
I think benny greb could sell just about anything
he could sell pork to a Muslim
this particular cut has that buttery feel. It covers the whole frequency spectrum of the palate and that's why us people are so keen on getting a good pork taste. *shows video of pork being eaten while playing groove
chun-wei kang "just follow these breathing exercises as you eat it and your fills will be smooth in no time, buy my DVD for more detail"
haha
@meinl cymbal tuners
Benny, u r one of my favorite drummers, alongside Johnny Rabb
I just fuckin love everything about Benny Greb
Incredible sound. Great drummer. Benny is at the top of his game.
If one has not heard Benny Greb one has not yet heard drumming.
When I start playing drums one of my first lessons was The Language of Drumming by Benny Greb ..
Chapter 1: Letter
Drumset: Bass drum Letters
- that was amazing
Thank you Benny !
Thanks Benny, for all you do to teach us the art of drumming. I look forward to practice every time I see Benny.
What a boss.
This is really fantastic music . Good sound recording, I could hear yr vocal, drum , symbals just like live performance. Thank you so much , I really enjoy yr play very much!
Love it how you get into complete detail with your explanation on the cymbals. You are inspiring for me and every other drummer no doubt. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more videos like this 👍
Thanks Benny for sharing this. I've got the 20" Ride and I intend to buy the hats with the crashes. Incredible cymbals!
Congratulations Benny on all of your success for all of your hard work
So very, very good! Now the trick is getting each cymbal matched as these are..... not easy! Thanks and Blessings!!!
6:12 - 6:15 - the best intro fill I've ever heard and I've never seen any drummer do something like this. You can get superman on drums (e.g. Thomas Lang) with years of hard practice but it must be in your blood to be one Benny Greb on drums!
These are not entry level cymbals. They are very sophisticated and almost high-maintenance in that they require complete control and command of your playing. Everywhere you hit these they sound different. Every crash can be a rude and every ride a crash and both can be pulled off wonderfully. I have the 20" ride and the bell is unreal. I hit the bell when I hit a crash and on recordings this sounds amazing. Great job Meinl.
Finally got to try out the sand hats at my local guitar center & they are without a doubt the best sounding hats I've ever played. As soon as I have the dough those beauties are mine!
Omg this guy is awesome, let alone his drumming :P
I bought sonor because of this Vid.
I decided to become a bass player because of this vid
Lex Estrada I named my son Benny because of this vid
I had myself some grebfruit because of this video
i greb a stick
The engineering on that whole kit was just ridiculous. OMG that sounded so beautiful.
This is the ride I have been looking for it is completely amazing , I'm gonna add this ride to my kit thanks Benny/Meinl
Meinl cymbals have come a long way. I have a 22" Byzance Vintage Pure Light Ride cymbal and absolutely love it. And they have many more in their current lineup that are equally intriguing.
I might get some of these cymbals, but I am DEFINITELY getting that shirt.
That crash ride sounds absolutely stunning
Haven’t cussed in about 7 years due to personal reasons. As soon as I saw 2:57 I yelled out “wHAt ThE F***” LOL, great cymbals.
I could watch this man just groove for hours and still be excited!
Those cymbals are amazing, but seriously, I'd take Benny over them any day. How can someone be so technical while having so much groove and musicality at the same time?
I’ve never heard of you before, but man, I’m a fan now. Sure your technical abilities are extremely high, but your FEEl! Wow, perfect sense of rhythm within the rhythms, and amazing self mixing.
That bass player is bananas
He is either the worlds smallest giant, or the worlds largest man....
Frank Itt. Germany's busiest bassist.
Benny, it's not only the cymbals sounding so great but the grooving with Frank Itt impresses me!!! I really like the special character of your custom cymbals and I wanna check them out in a store!
These cymbals are unreal. Hoping to get my hands on all of them as soon as I can. Recently picked up the 22inch Crash-Ride, what a beaut!
I could watch him all day
7:01-7:18 needs to stay on loop my entire life!!
It's too often that you see cymbal companies putting an artist's name on a certain model to make it sell better. When the artist describes the cymbal(s), the description is often very brief and it lacks passion. What I love about the Vintage Sand Series from Meinl is that Benny truly did put his heart and soul into their design. This video proves it. He is almost giddy just thinking about them.
These would be perfect for my Mars Volta coversongs & freeform playing sessions :) amazing tonality all around and that Ride sound is perfect, powerful yet subdued, love it!
Grebbles, you are an Inspiration!! Thankyou!! From Aussie Wes:)
Awesome, of course these cymbals sound really great but this drummer is absolutely amazing
I love how this cat exemplifies, how much MORE I need to practice !
Great sound and truly a beautiful set! 👍
Some day, I hope to love something as much as Benny loves his cymbals. He talks about them like they're his children...which they basically are.
Man...Benny Greb could sell dirt to an earthworm. Great Drummer and equally great spokesperson.
he is in my top five, amazing drumming!!
I gotta admit, that Bell sounds surprisingly good
such damn good grooving, drumming, nice cymbals, drums and that snare!!. Best drum sound i´ve ever heard!!!
Benny Greb is a bonafide badass IMO.
Actually, no I didn't delete my comment. You must really enjoy wasting time to continue your calculated stupidity on other things I've left comments on. And... no, a waste of energy such as yourself doing such childish shit isn't going to aggravate me. Have fun trolling!
here's an idea: 15" sand hats
16s are in a prototype stage right now
@@austinchoatedrums and it's the only sand hats type I see Meinl artists using.
Benny is great, and I love those cymbals
Great job!
They sound good but I prefer the meinl soundcaster's, but on the other hand!!!!!! Benny greb is probably the best I've seen, he's so out of the box that he's carrying it :p this guy is reason I play drums and if u see this and are coming to the uk this year let me know :D
This man is so good! I love this cymbals
Hmm, I've never thought of that. A thin 16" pang cymbal (possibly with some rivets) for a different type of accent and as a secondary jazz ride. Put that alongside a thicker 20" model for extremely powerful accents and you've got a dream cymbal set!
Can't concentrate on those cymbals' over the sound of that beautiful snare.
Great Sound & Great playing man!! Awsome groove!
HUGE FAN! love the cymbals!
just take my soul already
Such a great drummer and such a great set of cymbals. But honestly, I'd live to see a sand china and a set of 15" sand hats!
I think I speak for everyone when I say please show us how to tune a floor tom like yours! :)
Benny could sound great on any garage sale cymbal. But nonetheless...........these are amazingly musical cymbals.
I support the confidence.
sounds amazing
Bei 2:47, liegt da ein altes Sennheiser MD 21 in Richtung Rim der Bassdrum? Fantastische Aufnahme!
That snare drum!
this is what I call "A Perfect Kit"
Absolute monster.
Something ive noticed is how when people advertised cymbals they always use these words like buttery to make us paint a picture of the perfect cymbal in our head and then think that this cymbal will sound just like that. Just saying :) I bet these do sound pretty magical though
you have to try them out yourself
Amazing.
I have a sand ride. I've had it since it was released in 2009. Now you release these. I am sold on this line.
Quite literally, the 22" Sand Crash Ride was EXACTLY what I wanted. Exactly. I've been looking for a new right side ride, and I've been debating rivets. I had looked at the 22" Sand ride and decided that it was going to be too heavy for my purposes. But then you made it thinner. And then you added rivets.
HOW DO YOU KNOW ME SO WELL?
FRANK ITT IN THE HOUSE!!!
That snare!
0:35 I don't know if it's just me or not, but the bassist seems like a giant lol
Brilliant drummer, but most wouldn't hear the difference on a record, but if it inspires the drummer then the record will naturally sound better.
What toms heads where you using in that performance , they sounded amazing!!
Why is the 22" sand ride not included with the Benny Greb Signature set? That and the sand hats are my favorites.
realdoyledrums seriously though!! Thought the same thing. I rock the sand hats and love them.
realdoyledrums because the 22" sand ride is an upgrade, and most packs only include basics.
Cause he prefers and always uses the 20 inch. They only made the 22 cause a lot of people were asking for it and it has sold like hot cakes so it was a great decision. I don’t like 20 inch rides so I got thee 22 and it’s def one of my favorite rides ever. The bell is prolly the best bell on any ride for my liking. The crashability is great too although it doesn’t cut through louder music but in the practice room and anything outside of rock or metal I use the sand ride. Just an amazing musical ride. The 22 inch sand ride, 21 inch transition ride, 22 inch extra dry medium ride, 22 inch traditional medium ride, and 21 inch serpents ride are all my rides and they are all amazing. Absolutely love meinl and their rides.
very convincing :) thanks
7:02 what a grooooooooooooooove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that part at 7:02 is awsome
I'm sold I'm want that 22inch crash/ride I'm going to order one.
niceness!
A Byzance Vintage Sand China could possibly be the best thing ever.
snare is awsome
the drum sounds TOO good
Whats the name of the bass player Benny is jamming with? He's such a sick bass player!
..I love you. I have them Hats and i'm more than happy
8:15... people needed great cymbals in order for them to recognize this mans drumming capabilities?
The name sand describes them perfectly.
Sound great! 5:09 Oakland Stroke quote?
15" sand hats would be rad, maybe (im now cymbal smith) a slightly thinner bottom hat. moving the trash hat from gen x into the vintage series would be rad as well.
Its a good complaint to have, but, I just wanted to say that my 21" Dark ride (used to be my go to for most if not all gigs) is now gathering dust thanks to my 22" Sand Ride. Bell, stick definition, crashy/wash......did I mention the bell. Golly.
+Bryan Macaranas thanks for your comment. I'm glad to see someone mentioned 22. I just purchased one myself, I'm actually waiting for it to arrive. I played one at a very large drum store in Chicago and preferred it to the 20. But I got a better price ordering it. I spoke to a couple of guys about this particular product, and they felt the Meinl quality control was very consistent, which gave me the confidence to go ahead and order one. In your experience, is there much variation from one to another? Did you play several before selecting the one you use? Did you see much variation in the weight from cymbal to cymbal?
+googlefuckedupyoutube I acquired my 22' through swapping. However when I did try it in the shop vs a 20' it was an immediate preference due to versatility, lower pitch, and basically its a nice washy ride. Im a bit of a Meinl fanatic, and if there is anything I've known since playing the brand since the 90's and that is consistency. But, remember these are Turkish made (Murat Diril) then final processing in Germany. Its safe to assume that there will be slight differences between cymbals (tone/pitch), but ultimately Meinl will not stamp it unless it 'falls under' some sort of character/pitch/weight/tone that gives the sand series its distinct sound. Have no fear, the cymbal you fell in love with at the shop, will not disappoint.
+Bryan Macaranas Thanks. I'm looking forward to playing it. Should get it tomorrow, which means I'll have it for a gig Friday.
Cheers!
this bass line is also on Soulfood :)
I like butter on my cymbals
Frank Itt
for shizzle my nizzles the sizzles sound delicious
WoW
WIsh My sand ride sounded as nice as the one in this video.
How can I get my bass to sound like that?! It's beautiful!
***** Not really... You can have this bass drum sound, it's really all about the tuning and sometimes muffling :)
+Hynek Čejka no u need bennys fairy dust
Still Love My Old Azevias Zildjians
yeah the azevias were the best ever :-) especially the spelling.
nice nice nice
I would kill for 16" sand Hihat
