Silhouette Studio Trace Panel - Is There a Better Option??

- Is it better to trace your images in Silhouette Studio or use an online converter? In this tutorial, I turn 3 images into cut files using both the Trace Panel and an online converter, then compare the results of each one.
The Trace Panel can be intimidating at times, but the end results are worth the effort. Watch this video to learn the ins and outs, then head over to Silhouette Studio to play around a bit. That really is the best way to learn. And remember... The Undo Button is your FRIEND!
If you are interested in grabbing any of the files used in this video, head over to Creative Fabrica. You can snag a free trial if you follow my link.

Omg ! This is the most awesome tutorial I have found!! I have been searching a long time for this type of detailed explanation so I can use it with my own drawings. Thank you so much for sharing this!❤❤❤
Thanks for watching! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Ditto 👍
Hi Brenda, You are such a good teacher. you explain things so well, and easy to understand too. I have been using the program for 8 years and I'm still learning new things, I think this program is fantastic I love using it, Cheers.
Oh, thank you! I really enjoy doing this. And it seems there is always something new to learn.
Wanted to say thanks for sharing creative fabrica. I had no idea about that site.
Thank you so very much!! I love Creative Fabrica. There's so much to choose from.
😺Hey, THX for the tip. i know it had to be a better was to trace out your image...A BIG THX TO YA💞
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. 😊
Thank you! This was the best tutorial on beginner tracing that I've found
You’re a good teacher. I’m still trying to get my head wrapped around svg files, when I need them and how to use them. Seems like I’ve watched a ton of videos on the subject but haven’t had that ‘ah ha’ moment yet
SVG’s are cut files you can resize to any size without distortion. Taking a PNG file ( Portable Network Graphic) pixilated file that distorts as is gets stretched - a one piece file) and convert to SVG for a cut file having several pieces so you can cut each piece in a different color vinyl on your cutter. I hope that helps you.
@@lynnebizlyne436 that does. Thank you for the reply.
@@lynnebizlyne436yes, that helps.
I agree, she is an excellent teacher.
Finally found a tutorial that helps me with the exact type of issue I am having! Now the issue is I don't have the Business Edition of the software and you can't do trace by color with Basic.... So now I get to try to piece what I need to do together using multiple methods, which as a beginner, isn't exactly self-explanatory. Here I was thinking I picked an easy file with to start my first project using more than just text with, only three colors, red, yellow and black (Uno card game logo). Turns out, there is a lot more involved than I realized. Why is learning stuff like this so much harder now than it used to be for me???? I will figure it out eventually, I just hope I can do it in time for what I want it for!!!
That might be a little difficult unless there is a white outline around each colored part. You might have an easier time and a better outcome creating the design yourself. Use a rounded rectangle, the ellipse, and some text.
Thank you so much for teaching us proper tracing techniques. ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing this information. My question is when do I need to do a compound path vs group items?
If you have 2 circles centered with each other and group them, you'll have 2 circles that move together and act like 1 element. If you take the same 2 circles and make a compound path, you will get a donut shape that is 1 element.

ahhh I was wondering how to make an offset in Silhouette.
Do you offer online tutoring for this program, all I know how to use this for is engraving for my cricut. Ty
I do offer one on one coaching calls, and I'm going to start live group classes after the first of the year. The classes will have a specific lesson, but will also have Q&A at the end.
So will the cost be for each???
@epdesignsleather1006 Yes. One on one sessions are $35/hr, and we work on whatever you need. Group classes will probably be set at $15, but that's not set in stone yet.
@@silhouettesuccessthis is a great idea
There are several png to svg conversion sites but they are all pretty much hit or miss.
Are these instructions for silhouette business edition or only basic? Thank you!
The regular trace feature is in all of the editions. Trace by color comes with Designer Edition, which is the first upgrade. Business Edition has all of the features.
Why we have to go to png to dvg if we took it apart already ?😮
Svg
it's not supported with my Studio :( Why?
OMG I cant understand how to used the software mostly all of it I can't understand it 😢 n I really want to learn I have so many plans if I can learn to used the software...
I do offer one on one classes if that would help out more.
