  • Coops grow up his first V8 at age 18 which was XB sedan, but I had always dreamt of one day owning a coupe. As he started a family at a young age the coupe dream was on hold for quite a while.
Coope finally got to the age where he said to myself and his partner, I want to live the dream, and buy my dream car. He had been looking for a coupe in my budget range, when a mate messaged me about a coupe he had seen on a website for sale. It was owned by a guy called John Dwyer who was a paraplegic who had owned it since new, and he spoke to John through email and over the phone for about a week, and then went and bought the beast which was a XB Ford Falcon GS Hardtop (Coupe). Subsequently, John and him become great mates speaking most weeks and even John actually built and maintained our coupe website for the XA_XB_XC_Coupes_WA Car Club and also helped me out in heaps of other ways behind the scenes for our coupe group.
Coops was extremely happy with the purchase of the XB Ford Falcon Coupe but he know he had to make a few changed to the old girl and John had repairs done to back of the coupe once and they added truck light instead of replacing it with second XB Coupe lights. After the a while the coupe started playing up and he know it was time to restore her. So started striping the XB Ford Falcon GS Coupe back and then he realised it was not going to small job.
The Restoration took a long time, but he had assistance from car club members, suppliers and of Coupe enthusiasts to support him through the whole process. He had to make several sacrifices along the way, like his wife Mini Cooper and another XC Coupe that he had as well. The members of the XA_XB_XC_Coupes_WA Car Club lent him coupes such as a John Goss Special for him to attend car functions and events whilst the restoration occurred as well.
Along the way he meets a number of people, including Chris who owned the XBOSS Coupe and event get invited to house the see the car and also got the pleasure of cruising in this later as well. They got chatting about how Chris’ dad took him for a drive in a car in the 70’s that was owned by John Dwyer as well. Some worlds for sure.
Coops lives this XB Ford Falcon GS Coupe and finally finished it but sadly John Dwyer passed away a week before Coops could show him the car, which has weight heavy on Coops. Not only that, but a lot of his friends that have assisted in Parts, helping with the rebuild and close friendship have also passed since then. This XB Coupe will never be sold.
This Live the Dream Coupe is a stunning explain of these Ford Falcon Hardtops and they are serious iconic vehicles in the Australian Muscle Car Scene with their fat arse that everyone love. Aussie Muscle cars will also be represented in Australia.
The Engine is 351 Balance Cleveland with Hypereutectic pistons, 750 Holley Carby with Edelbrock 2v Alli Heads, Comp thumper roller cam, Roller Rockers, Edelbrock air gap manifold and Ice ignition. The Gearbox is C4 and torque converter built by Gonzo form All fast Gearbox and all the electrical in the Hardtop from scratch.
    Wheels were custom made by Tempe Tyres Wheels 17 x 11 rears with 315 x 40 x R17 tyres and front are 17 x 8 with 245 x 40 x r17 tyres. The Hardtop has 4-wheel stand disc brakes.
The Interior is trimmed & fitted by Drew from Northside Motor Trimming which is immaculate.
Coops would love to Brent from Aussie Parts for restoring the GS Dash and huge thanks to Jason from Rare Spares for assisting in Parts for the XB Ford Hardtop. Plus, Tony & Leigh from Superoo Falcon Spares who also assisted in finding original ford parts for the restoration of the vehicle as well. Francis and Harry for allow Coops to use their shed and hoist for the restoration, plus assist Coops getting it back on the road, also with the help Hayden and Riley. Coops also want to thank the XA_XB_XC_Coupes_WA Car Club for all the support through the restoration and finally James from Proshine for finishing the look off.
Coops is trying to get 50 Ford Falcon Coupes on the 1st of October 2023 at the Bassendean Oval for the All Ford Day. So if you have a coupe and live in Western Australia, then register now at www.afd.asn.au

Absolutely amazing ride it's a beautiful beautiful car, I have to be the very lucky caretaker of a 1978 XC Ford Falcon cobra car number 355 here in Pennsylvania in United States she's all original unrestored these Australian Coupes are amazing and rare cars here in the states everybody is baffled by what they're looking at, but after speaking to them they understand what it is and they are thrilled

I always loved the Ford XB Superbird especially the Landau model, a beautiful vehicle. It's a shame they were such rust buckets. I have to laugh these days when people want to complain that chinese cars are just inferior rusty junk. They are conveniently blind to the glaring flaws of their diehard fords and holdens. These days I am really loving the electric dream, costs nothing for fuel 99% of time as it runs off solar at home and only costs when I go on a trip. Love it.

Something wrong with the wiring of the gauges Volts and Fuel should not be giving a reading with the ignition off. 18:05 time stamp.

@@AussieGarage No worries, I have been restoring these since the 80's and still own three XB's and it really stood out to me.The gauges are powered through a very primitive regulator build into the fuel gauge, if the regulator fails the gauges get fried or it could even cause a vehicle fire. The regulator powers the Fuel gauge, temp gauge and oil pressure gauge, while the Volt gauge runs on 12Volt. I actually explain how this works in a video. Just don't want to see that beautiful coupe have a dash fire. ruclips.net/video/vbI5yXGq3TQ/видео.htmlsi=wwACB5mzmzTyPJKC

Ford went backwards after the xy falcon.. later xa/xb/xc models where total rust buckets..much worse than previous models...

    • @Robert-mn8gc
      @Robert-mn8gc 3 месяца назад

A lot of the 60'/70's vehicles were rust buckets 🪣. The Problem with Ford was they bought the 60's Styling in2 the 1970's . Unlike GM & Especially Mopar with the Charger .
Would rather own a XA, XB, XC Coupe over a GT any day of the week including the Charger . Just better looking as far as l am concerned.
And this one is especially sweet .
I know where there is one , a one owner . Been up on blocks 4 years & years .
In Yellow original. Would rather do it in a very recent Metallic Yellow from Porsche
