Great stuff and thank you. I am working on a Case 1537 from 1968. Not $100, but pretty good at $1650. Engine runs, pump good, gearbox good (needs oil seals and clean up on one side of the shaft), some general cleanup and one cylinder seal leak. I will have to make it one speed and take off the CVT drive belt so I can get it useful. I'll work on the CVT over the winter. These are very exciting projects and apparently I now have more friends than I thought!
Wow I've never seen a skid steer with a CVT, that is an interesting idea, sounds like you got a great deal though! I don't think I'll ever see another one this cheap.
There not made by hydra-mac , it was one of the first hydraulic drive skid steer, before they were chain drive there made by Gehl Manufacturing in s.d. , depending on the year I probably built the frame parts
Sorry but you are incorrect, the models 2500A & 3000 Are HYDRA MAC. The 2600 and others are Gehl Patient-made. Do your research. I run a group for these with 1,500+ Owners and Collect Several Dealership Binders (5"+ Thick) reproducing manuals and have pallets of NOS parts i sell.@@brianpeterson9867
Good video I watched till the end! I’m restoring a 1970s Melroe M-371 Bobcat skidsteer that was in almost the same condition. All the haters can go kick rocks lol
Yeah it seems like these like these little guys hold there value a lot more than you would think, prior to this one I thought no one would want the gas ones but I've been corrected.
That's a good find Them own motors they Not too Bad I just subscribe to you Enjoy that video I have an old Bobcat that had one of the motors in it I took it out and put it 23 Horse Vanguard motor And it's still worth good as a 1972 Bobcat So stay safe and have a good day
Thanks for the subscribe! In the future if we continue to use this machine we would probably swap either a small diesel or a newer V twin, I've never loved onans and the parts availability makes them tough to live with.
Super cool, nice save! And I'm sure you know but for others watching that might not, don't run these motors without the tin (shrouds) very long at all; you'll smoke the valves as the heads aren't being cooled.
I use the same size and style straps to haul full size modern bobcats with no issues for years. Save the chains and binder for hauling dozers and excavators. Would I of liked to strap this down more cleanly yes, but it was fine.
@weldingandwheeling9883 look up the difference between working load limit and breakage strength. I broke two of these straps before. I just noticed you have 4 so it might be enough, but those straps can see a lot bigger load than you think if you swerve in traffic or go into a ditch.
There's absolutely nothing special about this thing why wouldn't you just take the motor out and put a 2-cylinder diesel in it? Much much easier and more interesting
In the long term that's a good plan, but given we were working on this thing in the back yard of our college apartment building that wasn't a feasible plan right away so we figured may as well get it running as is.
We ended up using two winches, very easy and uneventful to load actually it rolled no problem, working on getting a gimbal now to make filming a more smooth operation.

Oh nice! just so you know these were made by Hydra-Mac for Gehl. based off a HMI 8A/B. About the only way to move them is Lifting or running.

That's what I originally thought we would have to do is drag it on with the wheels stuck but it actually rolled right up onto the trailer.
Good video I watched till the end! I’m restoring a 1970s Melroe M-371 Bobcat skidsteer that was in almost the same condition. All the haters can go kick rocks lol
Thanks man! good luck on your restoration
Equipment in my area is ridiculously over priced... thats a $9000 skidsteer here 🤣
Yeah it seems like these like these little guys hold there value a lot more than you would think, prior to this one I thought no one would want the gas ones but I've been corrected.
That chipmunk sounds a little frustrated with the wrench.
Thanks for watching
Everything is hashed according to this guy
that's the way she goes
I didn’t know that a $100 skid steer was such a political issue, don’t understand all the hate comments. I liked the video. Good job
Thanks man, I would of never guessed either.

7:41 - those angry struggling chipmunk noises are epic :D
That's how you get stuff done lol.
@@weldingandwheeling9883 By hiring angry chipmunk? ;) Thats a one way I would say :D

Thank you, and I agree, I learned that a long time ago.
in the 70's, (as a 10 yr old) we had a mitey mac unit. Identical to Gehl. I cut my teeth on MM, growing up on farm NE Iowa. Loved it!
I do enjoy running this machine for fun but in comparison to a new machine I couldn't imagine relying on this thing for work.
Great c some a these old machines go again. Good vid cheers
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it.
Can’t go wrong for the price.
Absolutely cannot!
Ah the joys of skid steers, noisey, gutless, rough as hell on the backside, crap heating, ACE FUN.
Yeah I've only ever run newer bobcats and such prior to this machine, it was a big difference lol.
What a find.
Thanks for watching!
ya know it really has character. lots of potential here
That it does have.
Besides all the negativity in the comme nts here i think its awesome you got it so cheap and got it running again
That's the way she goes, thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work you guys can fix anything❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Damn son, how much ether you going to give’er….lol
all of it
Wow I would love to have that
The deals our out there just have to keep your eyes out and get lucky.
Tks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Not the fram filter 💀
I'm surprised you are the first to comment about it.
For a motor that sat outside as long as it did the fram filter did just fine lol
"Hale Hydra"😂
HAHA
I am so jealous great find.
Keep your eyes out they are out there.
And here the throttle is stuck wide open.
full power
Those straps are not sufficient for that load. Invest in some chains.
I use the same size and style straps to haul full size modern bobcats with no issues for years. Save the chains and binder for hauling dozers and excavators. Would I of liked to strap this down more cleanly yes, but it was fine.
Those straps are fine for this sort of weight. You can get them rated to like 10k kgs each.
@weldingandwheeling9883 look up the difference between working load limit and breakage strength. I broke two of these straps before. I just noticed you have 4 so it might be enough, but those straps can see a lot bigger load than you think if you swerve in traffic or go into a ditch.
Some body take that can away from him
Way she goes
Fun stuff!! it lives again
It does indeed, I don't like the onan motors much but they usually do run
Are you going restore. Paint it 22:28
My friend who is the owner of this machine will be painting it up in the future, I was just helping him and taking video on this one.
That is the oldest skid loader ever haha
It is certainly the oldest I've ever run or been around, we never did figure out what year it was.
I threw up twice watching but i have been drinking pretty heavy!!
Fair enough
Invest in a tripod…
Already done and a gimbal.
Hi
Hi james
Commentator does nothing but open his mouth, give him a mouth full of knuckles
Thanks Darrell!
What's with the half ^s$ tools?
We were working on this thing in the back yard of our college apartment sooo dont exactly have access to a shop with the proper tools so you make do.
Can you say DUH !
Duh
invest in a can of kroil
I really should, I've tried a lot of other brands of penetrating oil but Kroil has always been sort of hard to find around my area.
Oliver 03 c
Thanks!
its weird they don't know the difference between a tyre and a wheel
the guy is changing it with his foot under the machine, they need the fear of god instilled in them when that shit falls off a jack
Pretty interchangeable word in my opinion you get the idea of what I meant I think, as for my buddy putting his foot under it, we called him an idiot.
so you dont know the difference
@@weldingandwheeling9883
Dang wish I can find one
They are out there you just have to keep your eyes out for the deals, I happened to spot this one when I picked up my attex 6x6.
Man you can't just walk around waving the camera about, everyone this end is throwing their guts up, can't watch it.
If you don’t puke by the end of my videos, then I didn’t do a good enough job!
@@weldingandwheeling9883 The content that truly desired.
He definitely needs a video recording + editing course. I quit halfway with nausea. Moving on
@frank-t6857 ya clearly don't appreciate top tier content when you see it.
You're moving the camera around way too fast! Learn to shoot smoothly and slow it down so it's watchable.
Working on it, investing in some better equipment for filming as well.
@weldingandwheeling9883 is a learning process, keep it up man, fuck the haters.

forsure lol

You didn't show how u got the thing in the trailer and how u remove the spark plug ugh . keep cam steady u give me motion sickness. Ok vid otherwise
We ended up using two winches, very easy and uneventful to load actually it rolled no problem, working on getting a gimbal now to make filming a more smooth operation.
Lets go find something in the junk pile and try to make it run with no mechanical ability whatsoever....
thanks for checking out the video buddy.
