These guys are some real tough athletes. What makes it even crazier is the fact that there are no pads being used!! Insane!!!!😮
It's getting a bit safer now due to law changes and other regulations I remember only about 10 -15 years ago watching and the players would get knocked the f out and just stumble back into play

It's safer not wearing pads, the NFL players go flying helmet to helmet whereas rugby players know what their bodies can actually take.
It's not just the no pads, it's also every player is both offense and defense, the game is continuous, so no stop/start like NFL and more than half of the team stay on the field for the entire 80 mins, with the other players who start playing around 60 mins on average. It's hard hitting, a test of endurance and every player has to be able to tackle, run, kick (to a degree), pass and take a hit.

Game is cleaner and less dirty as well. I'm 57 yrs old and retired for good this year. Played a rampaging tighthead prop all my life. The stuff that used to go on in the scrum, lineout and especially ruck time, Tight five rules was applied with the cold steel to players just laying there. Especially if they were flankers or a Jessica. Frightening at times. 🤤

Please do a good review of Rugby: like "the best tries..." The sport is so much more than being savage, there is so much more to it that's not being represented!
I could not agree more. Look at the players who can go round others or deceive them without smashing them into the ground or make beautiful passes to release others. There is so much to offer than this violent stuff.

The last one, Ben Flower, was banned for the punch for six months and the guy on the ground retired six months after the punch from recurrent concussion symptoms.
You definitely can't punch without a red card and sanction. Many of these hits are illegal yet happen all the same. I like to see good , strong and fair tackles

If you want to see the other side of rugby give "Moments of Respect in Rugby" a watch. It's known as "a hooligan's game played by gentlemen" for a reason. Also "Nigel Owens - Best Moments" is gold if you wanna see what the refs are like.
The flipped over as you called it is completely illegal and now would result in a sending off and a lengthy ban as would the following shoulder to head hit!

Whilst you are correct in that, they really are fantastic athletes, they have practiced since a young age, they know how to take the hits. I watched my 14 yr old son dislocate his shoulder and ask for it to be put back in so that he could continue in the game and not be substituted. Check out Martin Johnsons head that's why some guys wear the flimsy head gear, it protects their ears!!!!!!
To really appreciate these hits you need to be there, as I have been, to hear the sound of bone crunching into bone.
I swear you hear it echo when the big boys clash like that.

If you would like to learn all about both games of rugby ( League and Union) your welcome to come spend a few days at my beach house and i'll explain it in detail. :)
A lot of what you saw isnt legal and players get sent off , either for the rest of the game or 10 minutes, depends on how the Referee see's it.
Rugby World Cup is in Japan this year. Starts in September....... New Zealand is most likely to win ( unfortunately) but as long as its anyone BUT France.
And they`re on the field for Two Forty minute halves. So total Eighty minutes.
Some of these hits are illegal in Rugby and would have earned the player who did them time in the sin bin. Any tackle higher than the shoulders is considered a high tackle and will be penalised.
The shoulder to the person's head would have resulted in a yellow card or a red card. Anyone who lifts a player then brings him down on his head is guilty of a spear tackle, which is also illegal and will result also in a yellow or red card. The punch would have also resulted in a red or yellow card (probably a red - depends if the ref saw it) as well as a ban from playing for his team for a certain period.
yellow card = offending player is sent off the field for 10 minutes and his team will play with a man down for that time. Red card means player sent from the field for good and his team will play with a play with a man down for the entire game. A ref will decide which one to give on a) what he thinks is the intent of the tackler, b) how often the tackler or his team have been committing similar fouls or c) if a serious injury occurs as a direct result. Some ill-disciplined teams have found themselves playing with up to 3 players down because of yellow/red cards.
A red card also tends to result in a multi game suspension as well. Sometimes not however it ussually does include that as well.

Why when people react to rugby its always just the big hits. People hardly ever react to the skill side of things. Love the reactions and that you're actually gonna try to get around to everybodies requests hahaha But should do a reaction to (The Footwork of Shaun Johnson & Roger Tuivasa Sheck) There footwork is crazy. Or if you'd like to react to a player do (Johnathan Thurston - The Ultimate Tribute) imo he is the greatest rugby league player of all time. Hes kinda like a quarter back in the NFL setting up the plays.
Please react to the irish sport of hurling. Its mad and its over 1,000 years old. Its the fastest field sport.

In reality, many of these hits were not legal. A lot were penalties. The guy who punched the man on the ground was banned for half a season from memory.

Some of these videos go as far back as 2002 (that I can see) and so a couple of rules have been changed to protect player safety
That's not true their is 2019 videos out and the rules haven't changed it's a real man's sport
