Back when Sportscenter was good they LOVED Muresan. Like Dick Trickle in NASCAR, they'd show his stat line for every Bullets game no matter how he did. They were absolutely thrilled the year he won NBA Most Improved Player.
of course, he has a pineal gland disease which made him grow that tall; he was bound to have problems with his knees and everything the fact he played 76 games and started all 76 while averaging basically 15 ppg and 10 rebounds + most improved player was already a physical miracle from him before he gave out
He lives in the same town as I do and is a regular at the grocery store, restaurants, etc. His hands are surreal. Truly unbelievable. He drives a Toyota Forerunner with the driver's side seats removed and a custom seat that's super low and basically equivalent to the backseat. You pull up next to it and his head is equal to the backseat windows. He walks with a cane now but he's still out and about regularly. He's got the deepest voice ever recorded I'd add.
I think Manute Bol was more impressive because he had 3pt range and was a fairly consistent deep three shooter. But big Gheorge Muresan was a highly skilled giant as well.
put him in today’s league and training, he’ll be dominating g league then put in the nba for sure! making him play mid and perimeter game instead of being forced in the paint
He had talent had him and reeves, morning stayed healthy they would have overlapped with Shaqs prime as a laker and who knows what would have happened? They fell off and shaq played in an incredibly bad era for centers. Gheorge looked like he had love for the game.
