    330pm show
    Its been a year since we lost our dear special orca, Tilikum, been saving this Special One Ocean for him, well for all of us.... a look back 2 and a half years ago....still remember that day, our hearts sank (January 6, 2017) Rest in peace Tilikum!
    One Song - Malia with Trainer Michelle, Kayla with Trainer Joe, Nalani with Trainer Stacey, Makaio with Trainer Jenna.
    Frolic - Kayla with Joe, Nalani with Stacey.
    Side by side - Kayla & Malia
    Splash - Tilikum with Trainer Kristen, Trua got more revenge on me as he got to splash our area a few times. then right after the Splash segment, as Tilikum was midway in B pool, usually he goes into Pool D then Pool E, This time he turned around and barged onto Gate to A pool, saying "nope i want one more lap in the main pool, then goes back on his own to Pool B thus delaying We're One Segment.
    We're One - Katina, Kayla, Nalani, Malia and Makaio...

    Tilly is now free in Heaven after years of suffering. I wished he could have been free when he was still alive, swimming in his native Iceland waters, eating fresh herring fish along with his family.

    Jeez...Tilikum was an absolute unit. I'd be beyond terrified to get in the water with him. Just based on size alone. Hell, any one of them. No matter what people say about them in the wild...I'll respect these guys from the safe embrace of RUclips.

    these trainers probably genuinely love the whales in their own way but are so terribly misguided that they become immune to the cruelty these animals endure while in captivity. it goes back to if you truly love them let them free. it put tears in my eyes hearing the audience cheer while these poor whales are forced to preform

    I'm just going to point out that the finale of these shows is usually halfway through the lyrics of We're One. But this time Tilikum delayed his daughter and the other 4 orcas from starting when the trainers wanted them to, so the finale was synced perfectly. Hmmm...
    Call it coincidence if you will, but I think Tilikum has been in SeaWorld for so long he knew the timing of We're One and did that on purpose. Which is not only clever & admirable, but equally grim if you think about it.

    Since this is a heavy topic in the comments: The dorsal fin for wild and captive orcas.
    Living in Washington, where we have orcas, I have never seen one breach the surface with a collapsed dorsal fin. But, after researching it this does (though quite rarely) happen in the wild. A typical behavior of wild orcas is swimming hundreds of miles in a straight line. This allows for the dorsal fin to have regular muscle activity, keeping it strong. If an orca for some reason does not swim this way (illness, injury or such) their dorsal fin starts to show signs of stain and starts to collapse. There have been reports in areas of ocean containing oil spills of having a high number of orcas dorsal collapse. Every single captive orca has a collapsed dorsal fin. Fully or on the verge. They do because they do not have the opportunity to swim long distances, and only in circles. The dorsal fin does not have any bones, very little biological foundation for self sustainability. The condition of the dorsal fin is an indicator of the health and mobility of the individual orca.
    That being said, orcas born in captivity that have this condition not only have very little chance of having normal wild born capabilities because of this damage, this and unknown wild orca behaviors and socialization gives them a major disadvantage if released. I'm happy SeaWorld has phased out the dolphin and orca show.

    • @bobbieellcey

      Blue Fluke the fin floped over happens to all orcas in captivity where in the wild orca fins are straight

    • @samanthaspsychiccabin8354
      @samanthaspsychiccabin8354 5 лет назад +52

      Blue Fluke No, it’s called gravity. You see transient orcas dorsal fins bent over a bit too, that’s because they go out of water to hunt for their seals. I’ve seen wild orcas and captive orcas, I know the difference and they aren’t suffering. People like Dr. Ingrid Visser are educated about wild orcas, but with captive orcas she hasn’t been to SeaWorld once

    Are you kidding me? He spent years of his life there just to splash his tail at people and pose at the end a couple of times a day, then spend the rest of his day swimming in circles in a tank....

    I wish they wouldn’t allow breeding of any orcas. No more dolphin breeding or shows. When I was a little girl my father knew the trainer of flipper. His name was rick. He told us he couldn’t capture or train another dolphin ever again after his favorite dolphin Sandy suffered from depression and committed suicide after she looked him in the eye. Let all the air out of her lungs and floated to the bottom of the training area. The vision haunts him to this day.

Knowing that these incredible and intelligent creatures are being locked in a tiny pool while being forced to do silly tricks for food makes me absolutely sick. The whale may not have minded doing these tricks when it was young, but I can't imagine how such an intensely intelligent animal wouldn't be bored after years and years of doing the same thing. They are hunters and strategists, they were meant to use their own minds and to explore. I wonder if years in captivity retards their true mental growth?

      I was there observing Tilikum the week before he killed Dawn. There was clearly something wrong with him. He was cruising around in his pool in a repetitive patern where he would drop to the bottom in the same spot every time and roll onto his side. And he had what looked like a large patch of white paint on the front of his head (as if he'd been ramming his head into something.)
      I took video of him (pacing) his cage over & over that day and you could clearly see he was disturbed.

    My heart.... To see him take another look out of that gate before vanishing into the back. I would have never wished that horrific life upon any of them. I run an equine rescue and rehab equine and large breed dogs with people problems Amd most have seen years and years of neglect and abuse, as well as pulling many from feedlots bound for slaughter because they are unmanageable, rank or violently aggressive. I’m able to understand and work with these amazing Amd majestic creatures. But not because I see myself as smarter, or the more intelligent species, almost the opposite.. They are more deeply emotional, communicate on much deeper levels and i was once just as broken as so many of them were and are. I get them, and understand. Once his life became what it was, and all he knew, he could only show and display his confusion, displeasure and frustration in but so many ways. Like I tell my lesson students, we cannot expect them to learn our language, how vain of us for starters. So it is up to us to learn how to speak theirs, as it is we, who are asking something of them. So we need to humble ourselves, open our eyes, ears, minds, hearts, and dig deeper, find our ability to create a deeper connection with these amazing and majestic creatures on THEIR level, NOT ours. To deny him compassion, companionship, interaction, and understanding after that had become his life and all he had come to know and understand.. I doubt he truly understood he would “break” his trainer Dawn so completely when he wanted to just yet again, explain his frustrations or unhappiness. As it never did sound like a true aggressive or violent attack to me. Just a frustrated young man that forgot how big and strong he really was. And because of that and yet again the situation we as humans put him in, he was made to suffer for it in the most horrific and unnatural ways the rest of his life. In my world, had he been a horse, that would have had to suffer so unjustly and sadly, I would have humanly euthanized him to save him the unkind, undignified and painful, unnatural existence since release back into the wild was never a safe option for him. We saw that proven first hand with poor Keiko. Sadly, I’m broken hearted his life ever ended up being the sad story and existence it was, and that it came to and end the way it did. But that the worlds saddest and loneliest Black Whale is finally free again, I hope his soul and spirit are at least soaring across the oceans again.

One year ago, Tilikum passed away, and on Tilikum's day of death the next year, Seaworld did nothing but greedily taking the money that Tilikum produced for them and not giving a s*** about the day of Tilikum's death. They didn't even give a few words to celebrate his so called "great" life. He was supposedly "surrounded by family and his loyal trainers" when he died. If Seaworld didn't give a S***, than you know they knew of his miserable life.

      Human nature.

    When humans go extinct. I’m willing to bet no animal will shed a tear. We as humans are so cruel we can’t even be respectful to our own kind. Mass incarceration’s due to the corrupt justice system and private prison facilities.we even have humans suffering from pain. But yet do to money, and job security.
    Cronic pain suffers are taken off there pain meds only to suffer or commit suicide. Our day is coming one day we will be torn from earth like a cancer.
    The funny thing is. Our extinction will be caused by human error and stupidity.

      For profit. What makes me sick is the selfish people that will deny the truth and continue to pay for tickets to entertain themselves as the animals suffer.

    These animals have no choice. They are merely responding to cues, and hoping for food. They don't care about all the happy clapping and music. Thrills all the people watching. The whales could care less. Notice how there was no clapping or fish when Tilly didn't go back where he was supposed to. Can only imagine he was "punished" for disrupting what they call a "show". They all just stood around not knowing what to do because Tilly was doing his own thing. Seaworld should be prosecuted for kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and shut down. They had no right to steal these animals from their families in the beginning. But made billions of dollars from it. Should be outlawed. I don't know why it isn't already.

      Bucket pours are a form of secondary reinforcement.

    • @alysonk5853

      There are other reinforcements beside fish...they still get fed the same amount of food they need every day, the fish they get from shows are like treats

    Tilikum16 i hate to ask this question... But I'm not familiar with SWF'S Orcas... How can i tell Kayla apart from Malia, Nalani, and her mother Katina? Can you help me with iding them?

    • @Tilikum16
      @Tilikum16  5 лет назад +7

      sorry was busy the past few weeks, well Kayla is longer compared to Katina, although thry are both large in size..... Malia has a narrow eye patch much like her mother Taima... Nalani has three lines on her eye patch, much like eye lashes lol and Katina's dorsal bends a lot compared to Kayla....

  • @amylouwho8991

    Poor Tilikum, his dorsal fin is an outward sign of his sadness. I know that's not scientifically accurate but that's what I think of when I see it.

    • @philenanorton938
      @philenanorton938 6 лет назад +4

      Actually, orcas in the wild also have bent over dorsal fins.

    • @amylouwho8991
      @amylouwho8991 6 лет назад +21

      philena norton Yes dorsal fin collapse can happen in the wild but it's incredibly rare in most places Orcas live while in other places it might be slightly higher. Except of course in captivity where it happens to all adult male orcas.
