I've been wanting to study abroad since I was ten. The same country and everything. I've been trying to convince my parents for almost four years and now I need to get the stuff done so I can go next year. TIME TO GET INTO SUPER PRODUCTIVE MODE.
@@doritoman1724 i wish you luck! I find it quite cool how you still managed to reply to a comment you made 6 years ago, many people leave about 2 updated and just leave for the next 4 years. I hope you enjoy yourself and you manage to go. Also if you reply to me and i reply back, im really sorry but i dont have my yt notifications on 😅😅
My advice is, suck up to your parents, make them think you deserve to go on exchange and don't give them any reason to say no. show them that you're independent, do your research, show them that you are well informed come up with plans!!! be prepared for all the questions they ask so you don't stutter or hesitate, that tells them that you know what you're doing, make them trust you, be the good kid :)

I've been lucky because it actually happened tha other way to me. My mom decided she wanted to send me, I wasn't convinced at lot, then lately she convinced me :) The best decision of my life!
I totally agree with you about showing them that you really want it. My parents were very concerned about exchange and just didnt think that the benefits of the exchange would outweigh the risks. I think if I wasn't constantly pushing, improving my language, taking them to info evenings, showing them pamphlets, organising meetings and talking to my teachers about how my schooling would be affected; then I probably wouldn't be going on exchange this year. I found that them talking to other parents who had children who had gone on exchange really put their nerves at ease and they were able to talk through a lot of concerns which are mutual among parents with kids on exchange. I have a question for you as well. Did you find that when you first came or even still now that people try to practice their English on you? I love watching your videos by the way. They really make me excited for my exchange :)
I first mentioned me wanting to be a foreign exchange student when we were eating Chinese food and my family flat out laughed at me 😑 since then I've worn down my mom and she said she wouldn't stop me but my dad is still adamant on me staying here
I begged for about a year, I finally made a PowerPoint and included a video of yours and other exchange students. I am now going to Spain with AFS in the spring!!!

Hey Keiko. So I am an American- Moroccan teen and I am a Muslim. I was wondering whether you have noticed a lot of Muslims or Arabs in Italy because I was considering going to Italy for an exchange program but I want to know if it'll be like France or Belgium where there are a lot of north Africans already so the Italian teens won't be open to being friendly or welcoming to me once they know I'm moroccan. Unfortunately most Moroccans I know in France have told me French people don't exactly love Arabs or Moroccans so I was wondering if it was the same case for Italians. If you could ask your friends or something that would be amazing. Love you!
I have been trying to convince my parents to let me study abroad for more than 2 years. At first they were completely against it and were terrified. I slowly tried to explain them everything and they are now ok with it. However there is one major problem..money.. one year of studying abroad is around 10000$ which is a lot. We are not a wealthy family and for them, that is hard to pay off. To get a scholarship you have to be A+ student and have to have schools approval and recommendation. Is there hope? Is there something I can do?
