i love this show, it does a better job at telling an immigrant story than fresh off the boat does. Both are hilarious but kims convenience is my preferred show.
Paul is a great actor. Really like his role in the show. He is authenticate and believable. Janet is another character that keeps growing on me. She is funny. Love all of them. Great show. Kimchee is hilarious. He is one of my favorite characters in the show. Hope to see more of the show in coming years.
Jean Yoon, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, and the entire cast are terrific! I think it's probably one of the best half-hour comedies on television. Period. Also, since I lived in Toronto for years and years, I like to play, "Guess the Neighbourhood" when they show exterior shots.
The relationship between Mr. Kim and Janet has grown to be my favorite part of the show. They are two sides of the same coin, neither will back down to the other, but at the end of the day they share a love/distinctive bond and wish to please one another that I find really touching. One of my favorite character dynamics in television history, and they're only four seasons into it!
Growing up in Toronto Ontario Canada was a challenge for myself being Japanese Canadian in the 60's to 90s. I never had role models ie Paul,Jean,Uni,Simon,Andrea. All I had was movies like the Flower Drum Song and that was it. White and Black people had The Jefferson's and Leave it to Beaver,Happy Days, etc. Most of my life ,for me I felt invisible. If I was my sons age ,20,I would feel pretty good about myself. Great show , Kims Convenience 🏪
So much wisdom In both actors. Can really relate to Paul, his wisdom and that voice - you can virtually listen to him talk all day. Sense of pride in both korean and Canadian heritage. Love that!
Love this show, the whole cast is great! Started watching from Netflix, but once caught up, I catch it every Tuesday on CBC. (We get it in Michigan.) Funny writing, interesting storyline, and it feels like the kind of show that could continue for many years... and I hope it does!
One of my favorite show on netflex. That how i heard about, i just could stop watching it. I watched all 1 and 2. Waiting for 3rd season.😂😂😂😂👍 Keep it Up!!!
Who's here after the abrupt cancellation? Sad to see, but I really hope they do a special, or something in the future. The people want it, the network wants to pay for it, the cast wants to do it - they need a proper send off.
fantastic show! i hope it's ok to watch it outside of Canada! would love to see more east asian acting and story substance on what is now a pretty culturally weak broadcast media. heck, more western asian content would be good too!
White guy here. We definitely need to see more of these people in more things! Canadian media is notorious for letting good talent get away, losing them to the US. These are Canadian actors, help keep them in Canada by showing them respect!
Sounds so much like Jeremy Lin's story (NBA basketball player) when a couple of times he was denied entrance to the court by bodyguards telling him the audience section is ," the other way". lol
Kim's Convenience is brilliant, in a way similar to Que Pasa USA. It's so important and validating to see the stories of immigrant families, especially fascinating to see how that straddling of cultures happens for those first generation children of immigrants. I'm kind of curious, though, to see more about the back story. Like, more about Appa & Umma's lives in Korea before moving to Canada.
Watching it on Nextflex now. It so funny and authentic. It like getting to know the original generation Korean. Sad to see it D/C. "Fresh of the boat "is looking into from the scope of first generation ABC.
i didn't really care for kimchee in the 1st season , but as season 2 came along, he became one of my fav characters. Actually all of them are good so i hope to always see them all there. it's rare when all of them just feels real and human, i binge the whole season 1-4 in 2020 and wish i found them earlier. i thought they would be tokenize and i didn't bother with "westernized" asian shows because it feels forced usually imo. HOWEVER, Kim's Convenience, whether asian or not, was not only funny but the characters feel real. i hope to see this show goes on for a long time
The stories are great. I'd actually love to see an interview with some of these AD's and such that would be "brave" enough to come out and say "That was me." Not necessarily in these instances, but I've done that. I've treated people like this because I was bigoted or I used to prejudge people in not a good way.
Why are people so concerned about not hearing their accents? They’re actors. Jean was born in the US. Paul was raised in Canada from a very young age. Relax.
Los Angeles riots 1990. Koreans were part of Latino community. BUT the black community always wanted everything free or black privilege. Koreans developed strong backbone then the riots. Lynwood California
Actually Jean's is great - I hear that exact same accent every day from a lot of mom's - how can you say it's not good? The actor playing Mr. Chin though is easily inconsistent tho.
I've lived in Busan for 12 years. These two do a pretty convincing accent. I've heard it all day as a teacher with coworkers, students, family, and friends. I love this show so much and hope for its continued success.
If you speak with that much accent and use much bad grammar, you normally have trouble understanding fluent native speakers - these two seem to not have that problem when in character. I think the accent and grammar errors are exaggerated in the show.
They are talking about the way they were treated by the staff members. They were not taken seriously, and one can assume that the main reason for that was their ethnicity.
Omg so weird hearing them speak without the accent haha
This is amazing
Omg I was thinking the same !!
his korean is terrible to be honest
@@redding4540 doesn't he actually speak korean tho?
YESSS
I'M SHOOK WITHOUT THEIR ACCENTS I LOVE IT
I am disappointed. I almost wanted to see the real life appa and umma and I am sad they are not that..nooo.
I’m not. It’s a testament to the talent of both actors that we see Appa and Omma as so different than Paul and Jean.
This show is so great it’s my go to comfort show on Netflix
Same 👍🏼
i love this show, it does a better job at telling an immigrant story than fresh off the boat does. Both are hilarious but kims convenience is my preferred show.
It's a smart show and it has more heart. So glad you're enjoying it and thank you for watching!
So much better than Fresh Off the Boat. Kim's Convenience is an A+ show.
Why compare the two at all? There’s room for more than 1 Asian comedy on tv
@@Mannymoco239 Why not compare two? Liking one over another is a personal preference.
Agreed. Fob got away from what their story unique and it because a slapstick. I hope Kims stays a bit more relevant, it borderlines on slapstick now
Paul is a great actor. Really like his role in the show. He is authenticate and believable. Janet is another character that keeps growing on me. She is funny. Love all of them. Great show. Kimchee is hilarious. He is one of my favorite characters in the show. Hope to see more of the show in coming years.
LOVE THIS SHOW, loved Paul's comment, "I'm as Canadian as Maple Syrup. I grew up here, I love hockey" :)
Agree!
what a gem of a show! i'm a very late comer. Sad it won't get the other seasons it deserved past season 5.
The relationship between Mr. Kim and Janet has grown to be my favorite part of the show.
They are two sides of the same coin, neither will back down to the other, but at the end of
the day they share a love/distinctive bond and wish to please one another that I find really touching.
One of my favorite character dynamics in television history, and they're only four seasons into it!
I absolutely LOVE this show...the writing, the warmth, the naughtiness, and the chemistry of this cast.
This is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. You are all hilarious! I love you guys.
Just found this show over this past weekend. And I'm totally obsessed. This show is so great. I do hope it continues.
Brianne Hill me too. I’m annoyed that I didn’t come across this show sooner. I really hope it lasts a long time.

12:55 when she goes into character, gave me life!!
Love, love love this show! Hope it has many seasons to come.
We hope so too! Thank you so much for watching!

The Rey the third is on RUclips lol...
I just found this show 2 weeks ago on Netflix and I love it.
I'm glad to see shows like this about Asian families proliferate. Liked Fresh off the Boat, but this show is more relatable.
12:54 going into the character 😁
Who's here after the abrupt cancellation? Sad to see, but I really hope they do a special, or something in the future. The people want it, the network wants to pay for it, the cast wants to do it - they need a proper send off.
Very thoughtful interview. The human drama is universal.
REASON WHY REPRESENTATION IS IMPORTANT
Not every show does it right. This show is realistic.
Best show in a very long time
My whole family watches you and truly enjoys all your shows!
Thank you
We are looking forward to more seasons! 😁
*I love you all Umma Appa😚😢❤*
The host killed it for me but Paul and Jean are so wonderful, also Jean switched her accent so quickly and so well! Amazing actors.
yep, he was REALLY DULL, it didn't help to get the most out of these two great actors
@@gattonelblu Miss the original host the guy who got arresed and stuff
@@gmail7894 What happened?
As a first generation korean american born to immigrant parents, this show has been so amazing to watch.
This show scratches a similar itch that The Offices does for me. Love both shows.
I love this show the first time I saw it. All the actors are great.
I love this show soooo soooo much 😭😍
It's SO good! Thank you so much for watching!
I notice a lot of actors of color don't speak on an issue like this it's so important we open up about this in general or we never will get past this
I'm glad I could see their show on my Netflix in Korea.
fantastic show! i hope it's ok to watch it outside of Canada! would love to see more east asian acting and story substance on what is now a pretty culturally weak broadcast media. heck, more western asian content would be good too!
Love this show. Hilarious as heck. I can't get enough. Btw, Andrea aka Janet is hot. ijs.
i AM shooketh..the accent is gone but they both slayed in kims convenience...

Jean Yoon was in DREAM HOME with Daniel Craig. I remember seeing her in that movie a couple of times!
Whoa I love both performers... time to go find!

A legendary show. Loved it.
This show reminds me of my childhood, I love it!
Well i can't relate to anything about these characters but this is great show that brought my whole family together to watch.
This show is so good😍 It’s funny but also very real.
Watching it on Nextflex now. It so funny and authentic. It like getting to know the original generation Korean. Sad to see it D/C. "Fresh of the boat "is looking into from the scope of first generation ABC.
i dont know who i am listening to without their accents .
listening to this while working on my digital imaging

Love you both from Australia xo
it'sss soooooooooooooooooooooooooo weird hearing them with their normal accent i can't deal
Love this show!
YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING,
Haha just finished season 3 i like it i gonna slowly binge season 1 & 2
lookig forward the third season~~
Love the show!
Love watching the show with my family. Well done!
We need more
"you can discuss anything when you make it funny" - Paul. We need more humor in 2021

SEE YOU!!!
Can't listen without tear
I want another season’
OK, SEE YOU
What was the headphone for?
I feel like it would be better if they can have a host that is of relevant Asian background haha
Here to hear their normal accent. :)
Umma and Appa we can all relate to
Smh, seeing this after the show. I’ve been deceived...
Idk if I can watch the show the same way I watched it before believing they have the accent lols
It’s weird to hear them speak without the accent.. esp appa.. he doesn’t even sound like the appa we know😂
When she said "I am more like Janet than Mrs Kim" Q.Q
*UMMA AND APPA!!*
How the hell is it possible that jean is like a decade older than paul,,,
Paul and John Cho are the same age. Let that sink in. lmao
JACKIE CHAN A HUGE TRAIL BLAZER
their family could play korean family guys
I was wondering why their accents felt over exaggerated lol!
Only real asians know that accent is fake af I'm Korean lol
Kory En my co workers always beg me to to the stereotype Asian voice at work with new people because they don’t know me. Us Asians know!
Same! I could tell it was fake but it was a lot better than other Asian Americans faking an accent.
Same
Actually Jean's is great - I hear that exact same accent every day from a lot of mom's - how can you say it's not good? The actor playing Mr. Chin though is easily inconsistent tho.

Nice hearing talk about it. Maybe the host could slow down the voice fry a bit. Speak normally, people like that.
Modern family Asian style
I think they was try too much pronce on the drama. I mean they was use Korea english pronce .
My god….
Ultimate snack attack
Assuming they were extras. So damn wrong. NEVER ASSUME PEOPLE. Treat everyone will respect!!!
It sucks. There is still discrimination in place.
If you speak with that much accent and use much bad grammar, you normally have trouble understanding fluent native speakers - these two seem to not have that problem when in character. I think the accent and grammar errors are exaggerated in the show.
I can’t watch this , it will ruin the realism for me while watching 😂
Aww sad. I would hire an asian actor.
Nope. You ALWAYS start as an extra no matter your color. Yeesh.
Lol. First assume racism is why you get cast as an extra... loll.. nice. Typical though of this day and age.
They are talking about the way they were treated by the staff members. They were not taken seriously, and one can assume that the main reason for that was their ethnicity.
oh yay,go caucasian
oh wait its not the same.
Dayum! Appa and Umma can fake an American accent!!!
They are Canadian.
@@wherethebreezetakesme8122 orly
Wow Idk the accent was fake!
So serious - - so boring. Geez guys lighten up. I blame the host.
OMG I’m very surprised their English is REALLY good
:(
Kim's Convenience is entertaining for sure -- funny and well written -- but let's be clear, the show is also totally racist.
