Good Video. That QSC amp has a built in XO. You can just flip a switch next to the inputs. You could skip the XO/you would loose some control, but it does the job. Also gain staging!!!! You don't need or want any amp cranked to 10. It's a process, every instrument down the line needs to be around "0" or unity(to start), where the input equals the output. Use meters and your ears to find where things peak or get distorted from signal source, to mixing boards, to amps, and finally to drivers. when it is staged properly you can crank the main fader on a mixing desk, before the amps, and get even more DBs when there is some headroom. If the amp is cranked it will never get louder, just crappier. You get more clean tones and more volume thru gain staging. Other people have said this way better than me. Research gain staging. That mono sub switch is cool too. Keeps the tops stereo, sums out of a single output. If you have two sub cabs just run them in series.

EQ first then crossover (passive or active just before amplification connection to the speakers ) , watch the full video , it explains exactly your question and a lot more .

@@AVMEVideos Yeah I understand that. I'm not saying outboard equipment is a bad thing, they often have useful features that integrated stuff doesn't. BS manufacturing strategy. I have tried this on the crown XD I 4,000 amp compared to an active crossover. Night and day difference. The active crossover blows the built in channel or the xti 4,000
@@crispa1861 I was a little sceptical about the built in crossovers in the amps but so far they've worked well for me. I have been considering getting a separate active crossover for peace of mind though. I had a Behringer super x pro sometime in the past which I loved using.
Hey buddy I know this is video quite old but I came back to it because it helped me tremendously in the past. I was hoping you could help me with current setup and issue. I'm running 3 amps, crown 9000 (for subs) and 2 crown XTI 2000 (linked together for tops) with a 3 way behringer active crossover. I would like to know how to run my subwoofers on mono and my tops on left and right full range specifically. As I've found that when running subs on Chanel left and right with the tops I get good base However no mids from the tops! I have to turn the subwoofer gain up to get the mids I desire from my tops as all I hear is the compression drivers screaming. However this overdrives my subs. So I would like to run the sub mono 3 way wile using the tops on left and right that way I can use the low gain to turn the mids up on my top speakers not the subs. If you took the time to read all this much appreciated and looking forward to your help!
awesome video! But can you help me? I am using only one amp with two channels..... i have the dbx 223xs. How should I connect my PA system, it's for a church. Currently, i am running R and L from mixer to each side of the Crossover....so Rt is to Ch 1 and Lt is to Ch 2. From there, I have the highs out from Ch 1 of the Xover to channel one of the amp, and Lows from Ch2 of the Xover to channel two of the amp.... is this the best setup I can configure? Thanks!
hi sir, we have the same set up at church but I am lost as to where my loudspeaker and subwoofer goes in the power amplifier. we have 2 power amplifier, 1 crossover, 2 passive loudspeaker, and passive subwoofer. could you help us where to connect these in the amplifier? thank you
Hi... Can you show me how to set 2 ep4000 amps... With a cx2310 crossover... I need to set the top amp for tops and bottom amp for base... And settings for the crossover. Please assist... Thank you
Vin Chuhan Signal flow is: 1: L XLR output from your mixer to CH1 XLR input on CX2310 crossover. 2: R XLR output from your mixer to CH2 XLR input on CX2310 crossover. 3: Press 2 way stereo button on back of CX2310 crossover. 4: CH1 Low XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH1 XLR input on your bottom amp then CH1 speakon output to speakon input on Left sub/bin 5: CH2 Low XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH2 XLR input on your bottom amp then CH2 speakon output to speakon input on Right sub/bin 6: CH1 High XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH1 XLR input on your top amp then CH1 speakon output to speakon input on Left Top speaker. 7: CH2 High XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH2 XLR input on your top amp then CH2 speakon output to speakon input on Right Top speaker. 8: Make sure Xover is set to x1 on back of CX2310 . 9: Crossover between 70hz to 120Hz until your desired sound is achieved. If you go to a gig. But dont need sub can you still use this set up ? By just not turning on the amp for the subs. And do you have to have the settings different?
bro. i like your teaching in crossover,thanks...the sound that i like 2 play is a little bit narrow and full base and a crisp mid and hi...can a cross over alone do the job?...i once played in a club that sound like that..fos asian people that is amazing...can u teach?...please...
+Raymond Nakamura , Crossover is just tool to forward high/mid and low frequencies to destined routes. To shape up the sound you need to apply effects like Dynamics( compressors , gate , deesser , limiter ) , Filters ( EQ , HPF , LPF) , Time based ( reverb , delay etc)Modulation ( phaser , chorus etc). Now a days a lot of digital mixers have variety of on board effects so no need to purchase dedicated effects units. A high end DSP unit comes with loads of effects as well.
, The video you have watched is the 2 way stereo connections , if you are asking for 3 way mono or stereo then watch this video : ruclips.net/video/6SpAfuwdWT8/видео.html
I have come across your channel recently and learned so much! Thank you so much! I have a question; From the Mixer,Does the Equalizer come first or the CrossOver?
I haven't worked with an active crossover in many years, so this was a great refresher course! Thanks for doing such a fine job of explaining how to set this particular crossover up. Do you have the ability to set your system up in tri-amp mode so we can see how to use this crossover in mono 3-way mode? Thanks again.
Would a active cross over be needed with a intergrated amp 380 watts rms per channel and a power amp 900 watts per channel rms. I use instrumental woofers, no subs. The inzergrated amp is used to play 450 watt speaker for music listening and the power amp powers 900 watt 12" instrumental woofers. If have guests use both amps together to use for loud karaoke. No need the deep bass of sub woofers. Mostly just listening to top 40 pop music of karaoke singing.
@@AVMEVideos yes 240 watts 6.5" mid and 3" 80 watt tweeter. The power amp is powering the large speakers, no sub woofers the 12" woofer is instrumental. The intergrated amp a joson Jupiter v1 is powering a pair of kevler kv 450 speakers. The power amp I think I'll keep the 400 watt live woofer 12". I was going to put a 900 watt instrumental 12" woofer I think that will be to much for the 900 watt challenger ca 9 power amp that is upgraded to 10 pair of transistors and 12 capacitors for a total of 900 watts RMS per channel. The sound speaker which the power amp will power is a 700 watt crown bf1268. Both of the 700 watt speakers have passive crossovers inside that control the mid and tweeter. Just did not know if an active crossover would be needed because I don't use sub woofers. The 12" instrumental woofers put out enough bass for me. I just wanted to know is it better to just link the 2 amps because I have no sub or would it be better to connect the 2 amps with active cross over. Both speakers have a 12" instrumental woofer and they both have good base. If I use an active crossover and make one channel low and the other high I will lose some of the base in the speaker hooked to high? Right now I have a 6 channel titanium mc6 mixer and a dbx 215s equalizer.
You should be okay with your setup driving the speakers from 2 amps individually . The passive crossovers would do the job . No need to link the amps , no need to add active cross over .
Do you use an active and passive crossover together? Does it imply that when using an active crossover, a passive crossover should be disengaged from the speaker box. Thanks.
in order to use full functionality of active cross over you have to disconnect the passive crossover built inside the speakers , watch my other videos where i have demonstrated exactly how to do ot
i.e lets say each amp Max power is 500W so 8x500 = 4000W You would need a 16A circut breaker i.e 16Ax240V = 3840W Once power goes up 3840W the breaker would trip. Thea's why you need power conditioner ( surge protection and voltage regulator installed with your kit ) so it protects your kit. Power distribution should be discussed , design & implemented properly with an expert electrician , above is just any example for you to comprehend .
Question I have an titanium mc6 mixer and 2 amps. A challenger ca 9 the updated version with 10 pairs of zransitors and 12 capacitors watted at 900 watts rms per vhannel at 8 ohms and 1350 at 4 ohms. Second amp is a joson jupitor v1 at 380 rms per channel. I want to link that as my secondary amp it will be used mostly for listening to music outside in my make shift gym with 450 watt kevler kv 450 speakers. The jupitor has the mic pre amp that i use to song karaoke with. The new amp has no pre amp so i ordered and inline pre amp so i can go right in to the mixer without the intergrated amp. Why is the signal on the mixer so weak? Its the 3 rd mixer i have had and always end up using the mic output on intergrated amp. Its a shame cause the mixer has 256 effects for mic but weak signal cannot use my high power speakers wash out the sound plugging right in to mixer. But plugging into intergrated amp has power but i no longer can use the 256 effects on amp plugging mic into 8ntergratted amp and not mixer.
can you pls help me on this,i have 2 identical Power amplifiers EPX 2800 Behringer and when i connect the 2 amps together in parallel one of the amps is stronger than the other one, even the signal is stronger than the other on both full gain.i am using them on 8 Bose Bass bins 502 on 4Ohms.Thanks
+Jonathan Malta , I assume You mean when you connect the Bass bins in Parallel mode. If all the connections are done properly and you have calculated the Watts and Ohms correctly for your setup then it could be your amp that needs service or check all the wires from amp to bass bins & if possible swap them to see if it makes any difference. By the way your amps are not power full enough to drive 8 of those bass Bins as in Parallel connection they account to RMS 900W @ 4 Ohms and Your amps only support 800W per channel @4 Ohms.
quick question.. what if i dont have a subwoofer how do i connect crossover to amplifier to speakers? do i connect the the low and high from crossover to one speaker?
, you need speakers that support bi-amp . Also u would need two amps , then just follow the signal flow from crossover to amps to speakers as explained in the video. if ur speakers don't support bi-amp then no point using active crossover .
Hi please do you have to use compressors gate and limiters as well to protect the speakers or you can just run it with the active crossover and the EQ Thanks
+DJ AHOUFE , Sorry for late reply , The dynamic tools like compressor , gate , Limmter & expansion are to setup thresholds and to control the input signal. For DJ the tracks you playback , the dynamic tools are already applied in studio during recording & mixing . Dynamic tools are more for Live sound like a band performing on stage or Live conferences , not playingback tracks. This applies to Spectral tools like EQ as well , the tracks are already EQd in studio so apply as less EQ as possible if needed. If you DJ indoors then only thing i would suggest to apply is Time based tools like Delay & Effects tools like reverb to better distribute and shape the sound according to the venue if using mobile DJ equipment. Hope this helps.
thank you sir for the wonderful job of empowering djs. i kindly request if possible to do me a drawing on how to connect a dj mixer behringer vmx 1000usb, behringer crossover 2310, behringer equalizer , 2 amplifiers[ crest audio CA12 for MIDS, CA18 for BASS. which cables do you recommend me to use?, how do i set the frequencies for the MIDS and BASS on the crossover?. its my first time to do a p.a.system, thank you.
Never run the amps full up ,you need a balance between mixer and amp running the mixer just into the red and the amp no more than halfway ,you'll get the best out of it as you turned the tops amp up as it reached midway it sounded the best ,as you turned it full up it sounded thin ,all the best SIR HARRY'S HI-FI 🇬🇧🍀👍🏼
iam using a traktor sound driver,by native instruments.so my friend.iam suppose to use a compressor connected to the amp?to sound deep on base + to make mid n hi cricp?
hey buddy, thank you for the information loved it !!! im a bass player in a band and im looking after the sound, my issue is to take bass guitar and the electronic drums bass pedal to my bass bin, here is the setup 2 x Alto TS15 for Mids and tweeters, 1 x Alto TS 18 bass bin my mixer is Soundcraft UI16 digital mixer even tho its used the dbX plugin it still does not bring out the crossover perfectly, watching your vid explains how im going to get my sound clean and channel the correct frequency to the right speakers.. so getting the DBX 223XS will help me to get that perfect crossover sound right?
+Jacques van zijl , Yes this mixer does not have a built in dbx crossover signal processing , it only has dbx 4 band parametric EQ and dbx compressor/gate processing. You need a external crossover for what you are trying to achieve.
For a live band, are the mics suppose to go in the the subs? Or only the the top speakers? I'm using a active crossover as well, and I noticed the mics or always weak in the subs.
Hello AVME i have same crossover like yours and i would like to connect channel one of crossover to midrange and channel two subwoofer...how can i connect and setup.
Hello am not comfortable with the answer, get me clear... i have two Amplifiers one for sub-woofer and the other for mid range and i want channel one of the crossover to run mid-range using one amplifier and channel two of the crossover to run sub-woofer using other amplifier...........i want to know the connection and setting how to balance them on crossover.
question about running subs with the qsc 3602 amp. i'm trying to get the most power off this amp and subs. the subs i'm interested in are about 1700 watts RMS and 3400 watts peak. the subs come in 8 ohms and 4 ohm versions. which should i get? i already have one which is the 8 ohms version and was thinking about getting the 4 ohms version to use it as my main sub, get more power out of it as a primary sub? since i already have the 8 ohm version, can i mix it with the 4 ohm version? will the 4 ohm sub "sound louder" if so by about how much? i only use one sub for most of my gigs and use the 8 ohm version i already have. but for the bigger bigs i'd like to drive 2 subs. but i want to get the 4 ohm version and use it as my primary instead of the 8 ohm i already have since i don't need 2 subs for most of my gigs and use 2 (with the 8 ohm as secondary) for the bigger gigs. the 8 ohm is plenty sub already for most of my gigs. plays very well and has pretty much handled all my big gigs but i think a second one would sound better. the reason i want to get a second sub is because i was called to check some wiring of some amps and speakers for a club and the crest sub amp didn't seem too much of an amp compared to this 3602 drove 4 subs and handled them very easily. this amp was set at max and they controlled the volume by the mixer. they had 3 separate amps for highs mids and subs. the biggest largest crest amp being the sub speaker.. can the 3602 drive two 1700 RMS 8 ohm and 4 ohm subs? what's the proper way to power 2 subs (8 and 4 ohms) with the 3602 amp to get most out of the amp and subs? for 15's i have two 15" 1000 watt RMS 2000 watt peak powered by a qsc 3402. i also have a third amp that drives my highs bi-amped on the 15's. in my rack i only have an eq. one side for the subs and mids. the other side for highs only. the 3602 crossover is switched on. no crossover for the mids on th e3402... since the 15's are 1000 RMS they also help the sub with lows hence me not needing a 2nd sub for most of my gigs... qsc plx3402 specs: Watts Stereo Mode (both channels driven) 8 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.03% THD 700W 4 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.05% THD 1100W 2 ohms 1 kHz 1% THD 1700W Watts Bridge Mono Mode 16 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.01% THD: 1400W 8 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.01% THD: 2200W 4 ohms 1 kHz 1% THD: 3400W qsc plx3602 specs: Power: 775 watts stereo at 8 ohms 1250 watts stereo at 4 ohms 1800 watts stereo at 2 ohms 2600 watts bridged to mono at 8 ohms 3600 watts bridged to mono at 4 ohms
+Sir Jay , Even if you get the 4 Ohms version of subs producing 1700 RMS then QSC plx 3600 is not enough to drive them for longer period of time at full capacity in stereo mode. However In bridged mono mode @ 4 ohms and then connecting the subs( 8 ohms subs ) in parallel mode can just get you enough power to drive but again not recommended for longer hours of playing at full capacity. In order to drive your subs properly you will need minimum amplification of 5440W. Hope this helps.
+Javier Sanchez , You can still use the external active crossover , however most of the pro series active speakers have built in active crossover/DSP that works well with active sub woofers in the signal chain , Anyways for argument sake and your required sound design here are the connections. Make sure built in crossover is switch off or by-passed in your active speakers. Use the external active crossover in stereo mode. Active crossover High out from CH1 to active Speaker 1 , active crossover High out from CH2 to active Speaker 2 , Low out from CH1 to AMP CH1 to output to passive sub-woofer.Make sure Low sum is switched on the external active crossover. Now select your desired crossover frequency lets say 80Hz , now passive sub-woofer will output 80Hz and below frequencies and your active speakers will handle 80hz and above frequencies. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks!
You need to use a cross over to connect a subwoofer with additional amplifier for the sub alone.
great amps,i use 3 of them in my set up
Yes brilliant amps , i still have them and going great without any issues .
As always very good tutorials sir, however when you said "I'll show you the bac of my RACK" it cracked me up 😂
Ps. Keep the food work.
Thanks for watching .
Great video, best on you tube for this, thank you
Thanks for watching.
Nice vidéo ! Thanks a lot !
Someone knows the difference between the DBX 223 XL and the DBX 223 XS ?🤔
In my country I find only the DBX 223 XS ! 😢
Kindly do this video step by step so we can understand the set up
hi sir, we have the same set up at church but I am lost as to where my loudspeaker and subwoofer goes in the power amplifier.
we have 2 power amplifier, 1 crossover, 2 passive loudspeaker, and passive subwoofer. could you help us where to connect these in the amplifier?
thank you
Hi... Can you show me how to set 2 ep4000 amps... With a cx2310 crossover... I need to set the top amp for tops and bottom amp for base... And settings for the crossover. Please assist... Thank you
Vin Chuhan Signal flow is:
1: L XLR output from your mixer to CH1 XLR input on CX2310 crossover.
2: R XLR output from your mixer to CH2 XLR input on CX2310 crossover.
3: Press 2 way stereo button on back of CX2310 crossover.
4: CH1 Low XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH1 XLR input on your bottom amp then CH1 speakon output to speakon input on Left sub/bin
5: CH2 Low XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH2 XLR input on your bottom amp then CH2 speakon output to speakon input on Right sub/bin
6: CH1 High XLR output from CX2310 goes into CH1 XLR input on your top amp then CH1 speakon output to speakon input on Left Top speaker.
Hope this helps. Thanks.
Thank you so much... God bless
Great. Easy to understand. Thanks.
My QSC amps have a switch that allows the amp to separate the frequencies on the channels. One is high/mids and the other is lows.
How about three amplifier? Two for low output and one for high frequency.
Yeah go for it, I have 2 amps for lows and 1 for highs.
Sounds amazing!
thank you sir, I do appreciate your good work
If you go to a gig.
A high end DSP unit comes with loads of effects as well.
nice video, but i may ask how to connect a crossover on 2 way connection?
, The video you have watched is the 2 way stereo connections , if you are asking for 3 way mono or stereo then watch this video : ruclips.net/video/6SpAfuwdWT8/видео.html
I have come across your channel recently and learned so much! Thank you so much! I have a question; From the Mixer,Does the Equalizer come first or the CrossOver?
Glad to hear you came across the channel and it helped you , In audio signal chain properly designed the EQ comes before crossover .
it was amazing video to help...
can u explain about dbx234...3way and 4way system....
sure , watch this video ruclips.net/video/6SpAfuwdWT8/видео.html.
thank you very much...
I haven't worked with an active crossover in many years, so this was a great refresher course! Thanks for doing such a fine job of explaining how to set this particular crossover up. Do you have the ability to set your system up in tri-amp mode so we can see how to use this crossover in mono 3-way mode? Thanks again.
thanks for watching & commenting.
Mostly just listening to top 40 pop music of karaoke singing.
the integrated amp driving the passive speakers ( speakers have tweeter and woofers ? )
@@AVMEVideos thanks.
Nice tutorial verry helpful
Glad to hear that , thanks for watching .
Take a shot every time this guy says “uh”
2 minutes in and 2 bottles are empty.
nice one and i love it this setup is soooo grate
Cheers !
Very clear tutorial...thank you.👍🙏🇵🇭
Glad it was helpful!
If i don't want the bass drum to come out from the high speakers what we i do
Nice set-up , tell me something , isn't that amp a bit too powerful for the tweeter or do you have a limiter ?
Do you use an active and passive crossover together? Does it imply that when using an active crossover, a passive crossover should be disengaged from the speaker box. Thanks.
in order to use full functionality of active cross over you have to disconnect the passive crossover built inside the speakers , watch my other videos where i have demonstrated exactly how to do ot
in talking of daisy chain the amplifier,my question is can we daisy chain a different amplifier?thanks
+julito Balongcas Jr. Yes you can connect two amps in Bridge or Parallel mode if they support these features.
what crossover should i use for a pair of JBL CS3115 speakers
that was very infomative thank you
Hi also have active Qsc kw152 two way speakers can connect it with the crossover to play as my tops/ mid high
+DJ AHOUFE , You can connect a crossover if you want to crossover at other frequencies other than 100Hz .
Thank you for your teaching
Quick question would the circuit breaker trip if you were to plug 8 power amplifiers into one breaker
i.e lets say each amp Max power is 500W so 8x500 = 4000W
You would need a 16A circut breaker i.e 16Ax240V = 3840W
Once power goes up 3840W the breaker would trip.
Also u would need two amps , then just follow the signal flow from crossover to amps to speakers as explained in the video. if ur speakers don't support bi-amp then no point using active crossover .
when he says MONO tho hahaha it did help me though
Hello bro , can u throw more light on the port where it's written NOT USED what does that mean?
Watch this video and you would understand the “Not Used “ ruclips.net/video/6SpAfuwdWT8/видео.html
Great video.
Thanks!
Hi, did you use 4 speakers? 2 for the lows and 2 for highs, or just one in each channel? Thanks.
Sure i'll do it in due time , when is your show ?
Never run the amps full up ,you need a balance between mixer and amp running the mixer just into the red and the amp no more than halfway ,you'll get the best out of it as you turned the tops amp up as it reached midway it sounded the best ,as you turned it full up it sounded thin ,all the best SIR HARRY'S HI-FI 🇬🇧🍀👍🏼
Thanks for watching
i have 2 tops .. i dont hav subs.. in that case do i need an active crossover ?
iam using a traktor sound driver,by native instruments.so my friend.iam suppose to use a compressor connected to the amp?to sound deep on base + to make mid n hi cricp?
in short yes , add a active crossover.
Great information. Very useful.
Thanks for watching .
hey buddy, thank you for the information loved it !!! im a bass player in a band and im looking after the sound, my issue is to take bass guitar and the electronic drums bass pedal to my bass bin, here is the setup
2 x Alto TS15 for Mids and tweeters, 1 x Alto TS 18 bass bin my mixer is Soundcraft UI16 digital mixer even tho its used the dbX plugin it still does not bring out the crossover perfectly, watching your vid explains how im going to get my sound clean and channel the correct frequency to the right speakers.. so getting the DBX 223XS will help me to get that perfect crossover sound right?
+Jacques van zijl , Yes this mixer does not have a built in dbx crossover signal processing , it only has dbx 4 band parametric EQ and dbx compressor/gate processing. You need a external crossover for what you are trying to achieve.
+AVME Videos (audiovideome) thank you buddy, ill get me one end of the month
+Jacques van zijl , sounds good .
Thank you very much for the help!
Top video mate
jasvq7 Thanks.
If you hear vocals in the sub it’s because the singer has a deep voice
Great video man!!!
what is the difference between stereo , parallel, bridge and dual mode 🤔
Thank you so much
Thanks for the video sir, it's really helpful. Now I'm asking, what if you are using one amplifier?
If u are using one amplifier, use one channel for ur low and the other for ur mid/hi
Hahaha exactly my question but its answered. Thanks Chidi
CAN WE USE THE CROSSOVER TOGETHER WITH LOUDSPEAKER MANAGEMENT DCX2496?
+tous8212 , DCX2496 has a built in crossover so you do not need another crossover unit .
For a live band, are the mics suppose to go in the the subs? Or only the the top speakers? I'm using a active crossover as well, and I noticed the mics or always weak in the subs.
Depends are what the mics are doing. If the mic is a a vocal then no. If the mic is a kick drum then yes.
Great info
Hi, Which spekers your using and how is connect it? Thanks
How does a sound system like this Sum the original Stereo signal into mono please ? Thanks
great i want to know where exactly you connect those speakers, just to make sure i guess they plug to the power amp.
WILLIAM EUZEBE
very informational!
Hello AVME i have same crossover like yours and i would like to connect channel one of crossover to midrange and channel two subwoofer...how can i connect and setup.
i would like channel one of the crossover to serve midrange and channel two of the crossover to subwoofer..........let me the connection and setting
Use the crossover in 2 way stereo mode .This video shows you exactly how to utilize two channels of a crossover in 2 way stereo mode.
Hello am not comfortable with the answer, get me clear... i have two Amplifiers one for sub-woofer and the other for mid range and i want channel one of the crossover to run mid-range using one amplifier and channel two of the crossover to run sub-woofer using other amplifier...........i want to know the connection and setting how to balance them on crossover.
question about running subs with the qsc 3602 amp. i'm trying to get the most power off this amp and subs. the subs i'm interested in are about 1700 watts RMS and 3400 watts peak. the subs come in 8 ohms and 4 ohm versions. which should i get? i already have one which is the 8 ohms version and was thinking about getting the 4 ohms version to use it as my main sub, get more power out of it as a primary sub? since i already have the 8 ohm version, can i mix it with the 4 ohm version? will the 4 ohm sub "sound louder" if so by about how much?
i only use one sub for most of my gigs and use the 8 ohm version i already have. but for the bigger bigs i'd like to drive 2 subs. but i want to get the 4 ohm version and use it as my primary instead of the 8 ohm i already have since i don't need 2 subs for most of my gigs and use 2 (with the 8 ohm as secondary) for the bigger gigs.
the 8 ohm is plenty sub already for most of my gigs. plays very well and has pretty much handled all my big gigs but i think a second one would sound better. the reason i want to get a second sub is because i was called to check some wiring of some amps and speakers for a club and the crest sub amp didn't seem too much of an amp compared to this 3602 drove 4 subs and handled them very easily. this amp was set at max and they controlled the volume by the mixer. they had 3 separate amps for highs mids and subs. the biggest largest crest amp being the sub speaker..
can the 3602 drive two 1700 RMS 8 ohm and 4 ohm subs? what's the proper way to power 2 subs (8 and 4 ohms) with the 3602 amp to get most out of the amp and subs?
for 15's i have two 15" 1000 watt RMS 2000 watt peak powered by a qsc 3402.
i also have a third amp that drives my highs bi-amped on the 15's.
in my rack i only have an eq. one side for the subs and mids. the other side for highs only. the 3602 crossover is switched on. no crossover for the mids on th e3402... since the 15's are 1000 RMS they also help the sub with lows hence me not needing a 2nd sub for most of my gigs...
qsc plx3402 specs:
Watts Stereo Mode
(both channels driven)
8 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.03% THD 700W
4 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.05% THD 1100W
2 ohms 1 kHz 1% THD 1700W
Watts Bridge Mono Mode
16 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.01% THD: 1400W
8 ohms 20 Hz-20 kHz 0.01% THD: 2200W
4 ohms 1 kHz 1% THD: 3400W
qsc plx3602 specs:
Power:
775 watts stereo at 8 ohms
1250 watts stereo at 4 ohms
1800 watts stereo at 2 ohms
2600 watts bridged to mono at 8 ohms
3600 watts bridged to mono at 4 ohms
+Sir Jay , Even if you get the 4 Ohms version of subs producing 1700 RMS then QSC plx 3600 is not enough to drive them for longer period of time at full capacity in stereo mode. However In bridged mono mode @ 4 ohms and then connecting the subs( 8 ohms subs ) in parallel mode can just get you enough power to drive but again not recommended for longer hours of playing at full capacity. In order to drive your subs properly you will need minimum amplification of 5440W. Hope this helps.
What about using active 2 speakers and a passive subwoofer? Pls help, thank you
+Javier Sanchez , You can still use the external active crossover , however most of the pro series active speakers have built in active crossover/DSP that works well with active sub woofers in the signal chain , Anyways for argument sake and your required sound design here are the connections.
+AVME Videos (audiovideome) thanks brothA. I will put this in to practice
Yes !
No worries dude , watch this video ruclips.net/video/6SpAfuwdWT8/видео.html & you would know where the mids goes.
