What a player Jari was, doesn't matter who he played for, he gave it his best. Its just a shame injury got to him so much. absolutely love the guy. Am a Liverpool fan aswell and what signing he liturally was.
While the stats are not impressive in themselves, he was part of what was arguably Liverpool's best spell of the 2000s (and one can even go all the way to 2016). Many titles won and a remarkable runners-up spot in 2002. I always felt Houllier didn't really know how to utilise players like Litmanen and Anelka: even though he brought both to the club, he appeared unsure about them or looking for an opportunity to cast them aside to make room for Heskey and new men Baros/Diouf. Litmanen's words themselves appear to confirm that.

Perfect player but too Finnish (im Finnish I can tell) in that way that he didnt film or jump when tackled bad ypu know. His legs couldnt take it and he finished early. He was too nice and honest like finns are. He should have thought more of his physics and jump aside to not to get tackled and injured. A little more like Ronaldo from portugal a little bit of that but too much not like christian robaldo whos a great player but a fckng act a showmen joker hustler the unsportmanshippest ever😂

If I remember correct, Jari missed only 1 penalty kick in his career. There was over 100.
Not true. I'm as big Litmanen enthusiast as anyone, but he missed 2 in his career. Something like 40-50 taken. Still a marvelous statistic.
