  • This Q&A session with the Founder of Alternative to Meds Center, Lyle Murphy, Top questions about Risperdal Withdrawal, and Risperidone Withdrawal are covered.
    Please Like, Share, And Subscribe.
    1. What is Risperdal? Risperdal is an atypical antipsychotic manufactured by Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.
    2. What is Risperdal prescribed for? Risperdal is used for the treatment of manic attributes of bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and mood disturbances.
    3. Is Risperdal safe? Risperdal has caused young boys to develop enlarged female-like breasts, a condition known as gynecomastia. This has resulted in thousands of lawsuits. Additionally, the manufacturer was inappropriately marketing the drug, specifically to minors, which resulted in billions of dollars in fines.
    To read more about Risperdal Withdrawal and Risperidone visit:
    www.alternativetomeds.com/ant...
    4. What does Risperdal do to the brain? Risperdal is thought to hold back dopamine, a neurochemical associated with reward. This often results in a flattening of affect, loss of normative drive for life, and even can result in a slumped posture as dopamine is involved in spinal erection musculature.
    5. How do I get off Risperdal? Typically, a very slow and careful taper is necessary. Some people use Depakote, Lithium, and or gabapentin for bridge medications. ATMC will usually reduce the Risperdal first, leaving mood stabilizers for last.
    To read more about Risperdal Alternatives and Risperidone alternatives visit:
    www.alternativetomeds.com/blo...
    6. Is Risperdal like Invega? There are differences in pharmacology, specifically the way in which the drugs are metabolized by the body. These drugs are however very close in action and chemical makeup.

    I'm so glad I found you. You're amazing and a life saver. I have a new Psychiatrist and although she's amazing it frustrates me when some Drs think that you should just take antipsychotics when you're not experiencing a psychosis or delusions, extreme paranoia. Meds work different when you're in a traumatized state vs back to a healthy state of mind.

      Just quit it altogether, you cannot thank yourself enough for that. Yes, the journey would be difficult. It would take 2-3 years to become 90-95% normal. But it’s totally worth. Anti depressants/ Anti Psychotics can’t do shit, they can only make things worst. They are like statins for heart disease.

    In my honest opinion it felt potencially dangerous. The effects of time thinking slows down,it gives you apathy and melancholic depression,short term memory,unable to concentrate ,and your sexdrive is compleatly null,turns you like a cabbage head,and increases insecurities.That said I wouldn't recomend it to human beings .It is more effective on a wild savage beast that just will not cease the rage,but again I say not for humans

    I live in Indonesia. My daughter (17) was prescribed 2 mg Risperidone and 500 mg Depakote ER for bipolar. She did feel better but she gained so much weight that she wanted to stop taking them and the psychiatrist finally agreed she didn't have bipolar disorder. The psychiatrist told her to stop cold turkey and she said my daughter would be okay because she was also on 500 mg Depakote ER. The idiot was wrong. My daughter was in pain! Then I tried to taper off the Risperidone using a digital scale without telling the doctor, in 74 days. During the tapering my daughter didn't feel any pain but I guess the tapering was still too fast for her because even 3 months after she was off Risperidone, she has been feeling unwell, having difficulty sleeping and intrusive thoughts.

    • @cuekinaja
      @cuekinaja 2 года назад +3

      We went to 2 psychiatrists in Indonesia. The first one prescribed Clobazam, Hexymer, Depakote, and Risperidone. We had to move so we went to the second one who prescribed Depakote and Risperidone and made my daughter quit the other two drugs cold turkey. And for Depakote and Risperidone, now I'm trying to taper those two on my own because I figured the doctors won't help me, they never warned us about withdrawal symptoms, and the way they made my daughter quit taking the drugs was just to quit cold turkey. I have no choice but to take things into my own hands.

    I had the up and downs due to ptsd event suicide of my son. Caused my bipolar to not be managed. They put me on Gabapentin which was not good. Now they went with risperidone 2x day and Depakote 500 2x day and lorazepam prn hydroxazine prn. I went from high function to barely able to flip an egg vision is shot no drive for anything but have days I won't stop eating. And I have hours of shaking every morning and evening and suicidal ideation events during the moon cycles and sex drive is freakish on the 3 days before the fullmoon and after with no inhibitions the mind wants without deciding if good or bad. So I isolate during this which also causes heightened aggressive bouts. And once this wears off I start getting light headed kinda like fainting they prescribed antivert for dizzy. All I have is going good for me is not addictive personality. And the lack of sleep and evil death visions is hardest to deal with. Right now disassoiciative episodes keep me from working and was recommended to file for disability until they stabilize me. I also get the glycemic issues super low energy dizzy and if I do the sugar or even cheddar cheese helps. Takes about 2 hrs to stable. I want to take charge of my life as the drugs have IMO made me worse. Not looking for advice just an opinion. And I am all for natural.

Because during the tapering, my daughter didn't feel bad, but afterward she was feeling terrible and she still is after 3 months the tapering ended. (Sorry if I’m misspelling half of this in advance). Adderal caused a chemically induced manic/psychosis episode within my wife. We didn’t know what was going on so naturally I take her to hostpitle. She comes back on 6mg of Risperidone and 1500 mg of Depakote even though they knew her episode was chemically induce and avoidable in the future. Only instructions were to keep taking the meds or it will happen again. She progressively became more lobotomized by these horrible drugs over three months so we are now tapering her off for about four weeks now, starting with just the Risperidone and later with the Depakote.
    We are avoiding anything that can cause her brain to produce more dopamine during this phase since she is going to be sensitive to it. No emotional or exciting television, social media, music or movies. No favorite craving foods. Nothing that can give an extra dopamine hit like salty or sugary foods and trying to keep everything bland and calm.

      @kareendeveraux1847 8 месяцев назад

      Greed. I'd start with 15% cuts, because of short time span, wait a few weeks and adjust the taper based on the withdrawal symptoms.
      How can a 5 year old kid be diagnosed with adhd? They are not even in school at that age! (At least in my country.) There's no way you can diagnose this condition in this age, only in adults because the brain is still in development and that varies from person to person. I'd really not use any drugs prior to 20 years because of those chances in the brain, there's a reason why kids shouldn't drink alcohol, coffee or smoke cigarettes.
      You may support the neurodevelopment with alpha lipoic acid and omega 3, because the drug is neurotoxic, to counter the damage.

    I do not recommend this drug. I spent 4 years on it at multiple different doses, the highest being 6 mg. I was prescribed it because I was suicidal at the time over a breakup. I only stopped taking it a few weeks ago. Those 4 years were the most gruelling, most painful years of my entire life. Plagued with endless suffering. First came the tinnitus, randomly, for seemingly no reason. I was devastated and confused, but I learned to cope with it. Then my heart started pumping extremely hard, for once again, seemingly no reason. To this day It still does, day or night, It throbs my whole body. Then, arguably the worst thing, auditory hallucinations, a voice in my head would constantly say my name every second, 24 hours a day, non-stop. While I slept, these voices would engulf me, saying random phrases, screaming at me, no sensible meaning to anything said, a lot of it was sexually explicit or violence related. I was in denial for a long time, thinking maybe I was just predisposed to schizophrenia or something, but now I realized this was induced by long-term use of the drug. Now that I weaned off with the help of my doctor, the voices are quieter, my heart is calming down ever slowly, and a lot of the minor symptoms have disappeared. I just have to get through the withdrawals, which has included a lot of visual hallucinations, strange behaviour (I pace constantly and make up stories in my head) But, I am more motivated than I’ve ever been, and more happy. Though that could be a withdrawal symptom too, I am not taking it for granted. Thank you for listening.

There were no signs of positive symptoms at any stage but definitely lots of stress and so signs of neglecting my self care. My physical health has continued to be an issue due to losing both my mum and sister. I came off the meds myself with no plan I practically stopped them over night but just before my mum passed I took them again and I’m still on them.
