      I am wondering if any of you guys are diabetic. I try eating the starch diet, my sugar went very high. I prepare all my foods from scratch even my breads even if it's sourdough and I just can't eat the way the Dr recommends. One potatoe and my sugar is up. When I question the Dr he suggest I use some insulin, which defeats the purpose of my never using drugs for over 20 years being diabetic.

      @sunflower8599 breakfast is oats with chopped apples, chia, and pecans; lunch is usually some kind of beans with rice or bulgur wheat; dinner is either a big salad or a stir fry with brown rice and lots of veggies. Also I'll make up several baked potatoes (white and sweet), and a pot of Veggie soup on the weekends, to have thru the week.

    47:05 To analyze the contents of the Tollund man's stomach and intestines, new techniques have been used that have allowed us to reconstruct in more detail his last food intake and the way in which it was prepared. Remains of threshing and animal fat (possibly fish) have been documented for the first time in his stomach. "Nutritionally, the food was quite good, also when you look at the distribution of fats, proteins and carbohydrates," says researcher Peter Steen Henriksen. Another novelty that the recent study has provided is the knowledge that the Tollund man suffered from several parasitic infections, including tapeworm, possibly due to having consumed undercooked meat and contaminated water.

    It's good to hear that Dr. McDougall is into learning new things. I believe that a mostly raw diet can be compatible with the McDougall diet, simply by consuming grains (in this case, buckwheat and oats; other grains do not work well raw) uncooked, along with plenty of fruit and both raw and cooked vegetables. I do this simply because of feeling better after eating raw grains, as opposed to the feeling after consuming cooked ones.

    46:05 The last meal of the iceman, Ötzi, was very rich in fat and also included meat from animals such as ibex (a type of goat) and red deer. Remains of a cereal called spelled and traces of a toxic fern were also found in the mummy's stomach. The fat percentage was 50%, much higher than the average 10% in a modern diet. At the altitude at which the Iceman hunted, you need a diet that gives you a lot of energy, experts say. And the best way to achieve this is to eat fat, this will give you the energy necessary to survive in a hostile climate.

    • @ebirch90
      @ebirch90 4 месяца назад

      *26-47% fat - a range this large makes it fairly clear that the measurement wasn't that accurate, modern diet is closer to 23% fat worldwide (35% in US, 40% in Australia)
      Dude was in survival mode, I'd bet $$$ that wasn't a year-round diet

    47:59 1,500 years ago: Polynesians arrived in Hawaii after sailing across the ocean using only the stars as a guide. Travelers arrived with pigs, chickens, and dogs, as well as food plants such as taro and breadfruit, which would become staples, along with meat and fish, of the traditional Hawaiian diet.

    The diet of the Lapita people, the ancient settlers of the Pacific. The results, which have been obtained based on the analysis of the stable isotope ratios of three elements in the bone collagen of 49 adults buried in Teouma, on Efate Island, demonstrate that the first settlers of Lapita fed on reef fish, fruit bats and sea turtles, as well as pigs and chickens. Lapita is the name of a Neolithic culture that spread from points on the northern coast of New Guinea and the Bismarck Archipelago to New Caledonia, and the islands of Samoa and Tonga, in the western Pacific Ocean. It is considered the precursor of various contemporary cultures from Near Oceania and later Polynesia. The human species is omnivorous. There is no people, civilization or culture that has survived for centuries on plants.
