I love your videos
It's not a plot hole. Think about it like this. Bending is like a sword. The lion turtles gave the sword to the humans but they did not know how to use it properly. The original benders thought humans how to use it like how Wan learned from the dragons. He had the fire but did not know how to master it. So that's why I think it's not a plot hole (Legend of Korra was really hated for this sadly ) So yeah...I really hope that you can see this
When u said at 31:01 doesn't that create a plot hole on the cave of two lovers things the answer is no bc the lion turtles gave them the power to be able to bend but watching the animals like bison, dragons, the badger moles is how they master beding.

This is the 2nd of the 3 lines I am dying to see them react to in this season. The first one was "you got off easy", the last one is "you shouln't be me". Those who have seen the series already know the scene I mean, those that don't deserve seeing it without spoilers so everyone below this comment SHUT UP until we reach the episode.
fun fact: the 'arrow' tattoo on the air nomads head during wans time is actually a symbol or raava! once the air nomads met their sky bison (whom taught them how to bend air), they thought it would show a sign of respect to their long life companion, by tattooing the sky bison arrow on their own head.
Really? I thought it was meant to symbolize the Lion Turtles.
@@vetarlittorf1807 I don't think so but that could also be accurate!
That's EPIC!
Actually the arrow how it is now still kinda looks like Raava. Probably more still than the ones the had before.
I thought it was because they're not bound to earth (arrow pointing down) that's why they could fly back then
“We will be together for all of your lifetimes.” Is just SUCH a great line so impactful, so emotional. I love it.
With the music quietly swelling...that's when I tear up, every time.

Wan is able to bend just because he’s physically there, usually when you go to the spirit realm like Aang did it’s just your spirit.
nope . its because they are not in the spirit realm they are in the conversion wich is the place where the two worlds meet
@@myname-mz3lo They’re in the spirit world. They state this several times in the show. That’s why the portals lead there.
@@gavinallerton3414 nope. He closes the portal to the spirit world while he is there... Its a place in between that only exists during harmonic convergence that's the whole point of the show. Otherwise she could have defeated vatu at any point...

YOU DID NOT JUST-
"How much epicness do you want in your thumbnail?"
Kenny: YES
At the very end of the episode when korra is flying away on the bison, there's an island that looks like a lion turtle. There's a theory that that's the same lion turtle that talked to aang in ATLA.
your name LoL😂😂😂😂
What for? Is it just to explain how Korra got to the island?
It's a baseless theory, and the island is too small.
@@Spherrum it looks exactly like the lion turtle island, and it's easy to morph size when you're in the 3D space that is THE SKY
What’s the basis for that theory? I’ve never heard it before but there doesn’t really seem to be any evidence for that from what I know?
Wan: "This is my mission, to use Raava's light spirit to guide the world toward peace."
Literally every single Avatar after Wan: *"Alright, who's butt do I need to kick?"*
Wan fought spirits and humans lol
Raava be like: “alright Kyoshi, easy there”
Aang did his job very correct
Roku tried but failed
Wan clearly didn't have a problem with fighting. Guy died on a battlefield in full armor.
I think from this point on, Korra as a character starts being a lot more mature and thinks of the consequences of her actions
Yeah especially in season 3 but I like that shes still headstrong but not irrisponsible
Unfortunately, Book 2 lost me when [SPOILERS]
Varrick was out of the picture and Unalaq just got worse and worse. Korra is better in the second half, but she’s the only thing that is. Hopefully Kenny and Montana can enjoy this, because I couldn’t.
Yeah it’s a really big moment for her character growth

Wan vs Vaatu aka one of the best action scenes in the Legend of Korra.
I swear the action, music and dialogue of that scene is just...
*Chef's kiss*
The way they brought back the traditional martial arts for this....I cry it's so beautiful
I wouldn't say so. All Vaatu did was shoot him with a beam that did nothing but push him around and slap him with tentacle legs. Pretty weak actually.
@@coffeesticks_03 Wdym? They never abandoned the traditional martial arts.
@@hirvale You're expecting a giant kite to use kung fu moves?
@@vetarlittorf1807 They didn't abandon them but they stepped away from them more to show how bending was advancing into more modern, faster forms. Sifu Kisu was the martial arts reference for both shows and he's credited in every ATLA episode but only in a third of the Korra episodes, so they definitely used less of a traditional animation on the bending forms for Korra.
When Wan dies I always tear up. It's so beautifully made... :'(

when you realise rava has existed since the dawn of time and yet......she calls the lion turtle "ancient one".......like bruh!
That's why that creature from ATLA who tracked by scent couldn't find Aang. The lion turtles scent is simply the world's existence. I love it.
I don't think they have actual names. That might be why she refers to them as "ancient one".
Nah mate
A general will address his subordinates by their ranks. Just like rava address the lion turtles.
Maybe this incarnation of Raava hasn’t existed that long though. As stated if one is killed they are reborn anew. It’s probable that Raava has been reborn over and over since the Dawn of time, but the lionturtle has just been alive for a long time.
@princeytron this is what I've always assumed. The balance between them shifts every 10k years, and the way they were talking made it sound like they'd already been through plenty of iteration of the different possible states between the two.

I shed a tear for Wan as he was dying. The literally gave his life trying to achive peace.

The “you have done it before” Roku said to Aang makes more sense now doesn’t it?

@@hirvale no man it was a very specific situation, Aang asked Roku something along the lines of “How do I master all the elements in one year?” And Roku replied “you can, you have done it before.” He was talking about this specific case obviously where Wan did it in one year too.

In the Avatar State, the user becomes a god and Raava becomes mortal. It’s beautiful how all of that power is balanced in such a simple way
“What would the avatar state even do for him? He doesn’t even have any past avatars” that’s not how the avatar state works Kenny
That is how it works. Every past life adds to the strength of the avatar state. All their knowledge and tactics plus the power of Rava combined in one entity. That is the Avatar State. With Wan it was just him and Rava.
@@Sage8981 pretty sure it still amps up the Avatars abilities, since it should allow for better access to the elements. Even after *it* happened, korra still uses the Avatar state. With every reincarnation, all the knowledge/abilities/skills of the prior avatar due add to it however since those lifetimes are contained within raava
@@Sage8981 It's more "strength" in the sense that it's multiple techniques and a lot of wisdom to pull from, but not in the literal sense (that's what I believe). Raava is the power behind the AS, and the past lives are more there for guidance and whatnot. So, the avatar state is still hella powerful even without any past lives to pull from. Wan is kinda proof.

The cave with 2 lovers, Oma and Shu, is probably just a legend, which changed over thousands of years. If you think about it, it would be weird if the truth from the beginning of the world would stay intact all this time... it's like real life!
I dislike when a piece of lore is explained away as just a myth. With that way of thinking, any history explained by characters in avatar can be discarded as a legend and becomes meaningless.
As an alternative point of view, the cave of two lovers could have been the birthplace of modern earth bending, much like fire bending changed from the pure dragon style, the new earth bending could have been a combination of what was traditional bending and the pure bending of the badger moles.
@@hirvale Or maybe Oma and Shu were the first actual earthbenders, who didn't have to return the power if earth, which would mean Omashu was the first ever city apart from the earth lion turtle
Very much this (OG comment) Also i can kind of see @Gal Kastelic's take on it, however i doubt even Omashu would date back 10000 years.
Honestly, even the way it is told in ATLA is like a folktale. The founding myth of Omashu. IRL we have several religious attempts at explaining the world origin, etc. And for example Christianity is only a little over 2000years old, still we can't agree on any one explanation as a whole. So imagine what 10000 years would do to Avatar history. (Also the ATLA season 3 episodes showed a prime example of history being rewritten, remember the wrong school teachings?)
@@hirvale I understand the disappointment but also it's the only reasonable approach. Statements by one individual are never historical fact. They are at best anecdotal evidence, even the most neutral person is a subjective source, so a single source like that (especially when recounting something as opinionated and complex as history) is never accurate enough to remove any doubt.
Remember when Roku told Aang on the solstice "I know you can do it, Aang, for you have done it before" ...yeah
Imagini how many stories could be told from these two episodes. Like the significance of portals and how the first waterbenders wondered through the northern portal and ended up in the South Pole, some of them settling there forever. It would also explain these spirity powers waterbenders seem to have like healing and spirit bending
So the last few weeks have been really hard, isolation is finally getting to me I guess, but seeing you guys watch my favorite show is helping, so I wanted to let you two know I aprecciate the videos a lot!
Sending you hugs.. hang in there man :)
don’t worry bro, keeping you in my prayers. the past year has been tough indeed, you can get through this ✊
Y'all are talking about their reaction to Raava and Wan vs Vaatu but I am more excited by Montana's reaction to the Sky Bison herd at that the Fire Sages have at the end of this episode LOL.
Those were Bhanti Tribals, not Fire Sages.
Vaatu, the evil kite that got caught in a tree.
This is why the cycle of the avatar is Fire, Air, Water then Earth. That’s the order Wan got his bending
Remember ATLAs finale where Ozai and Aangs spiritual essence was in a battle of wills?(red and blue) Vaatu is doing a form of that with the purple beams.
My all time favorite episode
"We are bonded forever" *Avatar theme plays*
CHILLS
I read a theory about Aye Aye that when Aang went missing Aye Aye gave up his spiritual immortality to be incarnated into Momo, staying and waiting for Aang at the Southern Air Temple.
The plot hole you were talking about with 'The Cave of Two Lovers' is that Oma and Shu learned the technique of earthbending from the badger-mole similar to how Wan learned the firebending technique from the dragon in the last episode. Hope I'm correct and that helps, love you guys videos and hope you're doing great.
I've thought about that too, it seems like they gained the elements from the lion turtles, but they learned the art of bending from the moon, dragons, badger moles, and sky bison.
Seeing wan die gets me every time. Imagine having such an ambitious goal that on your last breath you realize you weren't able to accomplish it. And if that wasn't enough, during this realization your one true friend (rava) tells you that it's fine because you both still have thousands of lifetimes left to keep trying to make the world a better place 🥺 fucking beautiful.
I just realised that the water Korra is immersed in may be the same spirit oasis that the Aye-Aye spirit was protecting.
Isn't it that the spirit oasis is the same oasis as the one in the Northern Water Tribe?
I also think that. But I truly don't understand how she appeared in Bhanti Tribe, which is know for been in the southern area of the fire nation if she was travelling from Republic City to Fire Nation Capital city, I assumed. But I think it could be because that would be near the southern pole, and the southern portal was the one Wan and Raava crossed.
@@asimb0mb Uhh no. that's a different one. there are multiple apparently.
@@asimb0mb No. The spirit oasis, Foggy Swamp and Forgetful Valley are remains of the ancient spirit wilds that we see in these two episodes.

Except they clearly depict one as good and one as evil and an offhand line doesn't change that. The avatar isn't the balance of Vaatu's and Raava's spirits, it is literally only Raava's. The "balance" lines are just bullshit.
We saw Wan in the air temple. The wooden statue Jinora found
That's mildly spoilery, they'll make the connection when the show does, when Korra and Jinora chit chat about the solstice and the statue 😕
I NEVER get tired of seeing people react to “We are bonded forever.” It’s one of the most chill-inducing moments in all of animation.
I would loooooooooove to see Attack on Titan reactions! Especially from Montana because of how all the characters get psychologically affected a lot through the series and it's one of the few animes where those things really shine through to their character arcs and development.
Also, great reaction. Can't wait for season 3 and 4!
I've thought of that too, those reactions would be so good
A small visual detail I only noticed now is, the gate first sealed has the color of Vaatu on it's seal purplish, the second one has the blues of Raava. They kept the Yin Yang/Balance aesthetic even for something so small.
“We will be together for all of your life times”

Also fun fact the scene where wan dies with the giant earth disks is scene again in Zuko’s travels by himself in atla, creators confirmed!
You guys are, far and away, my favorite Korra reactors. I cannot wait for y'all to keep this journey going!
Kenny had a lot of bolin energy moments this episode, especially at the end when he apparently re-discovered that the avatar reincarnates and was shocked to realize that
As far as the Cave of Two Lovers goes, there's a lot of misconception about the added lore in LoK. Often in AtLA, when people refer to "learning bending", they are referring to the martial art form, not the actual innate ability to bend. If that were the case, what would stop Sokka from learning earthbending from badgermoles?
In order to learn earthbending one must first have the "earth element within". Wan could use the element of fire because it was granted to him by the lion turtle, but he had to learn how to bend fire (learn firebending) from a dragon.
In short: you could be born with the ability to control an element, but you have to learn how to actually bend it.
Did anyone else get a little giddy at 12:31 when Montana called him babe? I love just genuine moments of affection like that between couples.
"I don't know if that's earthbender or a little bit of arrogance"
Nope, that's the Avatar State lmao
I mean he's literally Prometheus, Pandora, and the Yellow Emperor rolled up into one. He represents human mistakes but also the will to change them for the better, agency watched over by meliorism. Its just the boundless human ideal that you can change the world around you placed into a plot device.
If you remember in ep 8 of atla, when aang talks to roku, aang doesnt know how can he max the elements in a year of training, but roku told him that he believe he can do it because he did it before. This was a call back to avatar wan who did max the elements by training only a year before the fight with vatuu.
wow didn't realize that till now i need to rewatch avatar it was my first time seeing this show
"you know those tiny sharks that hang on to big sharks🤏🏼🤏🏼"
"i do not"
That battle between Wan & Raava against Vaatu was another kind of epic, the general tone and intensity of it honestly makes you feel on the edge of your life like Wan is at this moment in time and the steaks are high, honestly kind of inspiring
I'm guessing someone already said that, however, I feel the need to say it too. The fact that people can't bend in the spirit world, is because most of them travel to the spirit world through a meditation state, so only their spirit/mind is in the spirit world. But when someone travels through a portal, like Wan did, their physical body travels as well, therefore being able to bend in that realm, because bending is a physical part of your being, and the mind is the spiritual part.
“Now I just wanna hold a squid like a little baby and put it in a tea pot” is a sentence I never thought I’d hear 😂😂😂
Every time I watch this episode, I start to cry
The lion turtles gave the bending, the badger moles, dragons, sky bisons & moon taught people "how" to bend properly
I always say that this 2 part episodes with the season finale are the most exciting and epic from the whole book🤩❤️ the thumbnail tho, is pretty good 👀👏🏻
30:56 Personally my take on it is that some animals((Badger moles, Dragons, and Sky Bison)) were the original benders and were the ones to teach people how to properly use the elements, not how to just throw the elements around.
I have to say you guys loving on Korra makes me very very happy. I literally smile when you cheer her on.
Don’t forget in the original series aang asked his past life’s how he was going to learn all the elements in a year and I could be wrong but I believe it was roku that told him “because you’ve done it before” still gives me chills!
Lmaoo “now I kinda wanna hold a squid like a little baby and put it in a tea pot :(“😂😂. Love watching you guys!!!
26:44 synchronised head tilt
To answer your question about the Lion Turtle "plothole", it's not a plothole. The Lion Turtles GAVE the ability to manipulate to elements to people, but the badgermoles and the like TAUGHT them how to bend them. We saw this with Wan when he invented the Dancing Dragon.
"I will be the bridge between our two worlds" that scene is one of the best scenes in both series combined. We hear it all the time as that's how people define the avatar. But to hear the first avatar putting that definition in place after seeing how it all happened. The music at that moment. To mimic the moment when Aang showed his mastery of the avatar state, which is the most epic moment in the series imo. Really wish you guys can watch the show with both earphones on at the same time. The music in this show is beyond incredible and it should be fully experienced and appreciated
21:14 “Maybe because she’s littler he can take it longer.”
Skfjcnfkfkfmfmkm 😂😭 #cremated
Raava doesn’t outrank the Lion Turtle because Raava is older than anything they represent the whole spirit world possibly the universe, the Lion turtle just knows more about bending energy, the elements, and anything to do with the physical realm!!!!! I think no matter how much power and dominion u got over people u can still take advice from other beings and learn from them so THERE YA GO
I wonder if they're a lion turtle flying around this world and no one has seen him because it's always moving around.
“How do they know this?”
They’re sages. They know a lot.
I love that they showed the Fire Sages returned to serving the Avatar
so if you guys can remember, when aang first met roku during the winter solstice, roku said that aang needs to master all the elements in about a year in order to save the world. when aang expressed doubt, roku said “i know you can, for you have it done before,” referencing the experience of wan, the very first avatar.
This episode is great, can’t wait for you to react!

I never see such a couple. Like they both are not pushing opinion to each other and try to see from the other perspectives and if they are not agree with each other, they are "agree to disagree". Such a positive relationship
26:46
Head tilt confirms it
Few things:
1) Flying Nimbus!!
2) Those sages are a different tribe of firebenders, separate from both the Fire Nation and the Sun Warriors. Fun thing to note that this tribe helped preserve what the Fire Nation destroyed
You mentioned the Cave of Two Lovers and I recently came up with a way to resolve that plot hole. My theory is that that story took place at some point before Wan's time. My idea is that the two villages (Maybe on lion turtles) were fighting just as they said in the story, and the two lovers met. They wanted to find a way to be together so they talked to lion turtles and asked for help, and they were possibly the first people to be granted the power of Earth. They then learned ways to control their power from the badger moles just like was explained in Cave of Two Lovers. Also the city of Omashu is almost like an island with a deep chasm around that might've protected them from the spirits just like the lion turtles did for other groups people. The theory is helped by the fact that Aye-Aye said in Beginnings Part 1 that there are dozens of other lion turtles so there might be multiple lion turtles of each element which would make it plausible that they both could a lion turtle or even multiple lion turtles. There's also the possibility that at some point between Wan and Aang somehow bending was forgotten and then rediscovered. After all they said that Harmonic Convergence happens once ever 10,000 years, so Wan was at least 10,000 years before Korra (don't remember it ever being specified if Vaatu has been imprisioned for multiple Harmonic Convergences). I feel like it is at least enough time to both somehow mass forget and then rediscover bending and start new civilizations i.e. Sun Warriors, and Omashu.
Also Wan was able to bend in the Spirit World because he went through the portal so his physical body entered. Every time Aang went it was just his spirit that went while his body stayed behind (Zuko even mentioned it in the first episode of Sozin's comet when Sokka suggested that Aang was on a Spirit World journey. "If he was wouldn't his body still be here."). That's why he was never able to bend in the Spirit World.
Montana would be the embodiment of a rollercoaster of emotions watching aot. Let’s see it done 🙌🏻
