I get the desire to start over and be wealthy, but the start of this is so ridiculously out of touch with reality that even cultivation manhua make more logical sense. The moment he saw a construction crew show up to tear the place down, he should have gotten ahold of a lawyer and had the work stopped due to breach of contract for his lease that had been paid in advance. If they would not stop the work, but he had paperwork proving he rented the place for three years and the landlord could not prove that he both informed him of the impending demolition AND refunded his money, he would have won easily. Even in China. Odds are, there would have been some sort of stop order on the demolition with a period of time to move his stuff and an EXTREMELY useful papertrail to bury that landlord under serious litigation. This needed more betrayal. Some fine print at the bottom of the contract the guy didn't see. Some shady nonsense with forged signatures and a crooked judge. This? It just makes the MC look stupid. "Oops. Oh well. Hum dedoo. No one wants to help me. Guess my business I sank all my money into is being destroyed and I have no options. Alas."
