In America, Manon is considered extremely beautiful so she is the visual. She is not the best at singing or dancing but she's very popular anyways (like Tzuyu from twice). They also needed one black girl in the group. It was supposed to be Samara but she had that controversy where she clicked like on tik toks that had racist undertones against Indians and Chinese. There's no way an American company would have agreed to debut her after that.
So they have a Latin girl (Daniela), Black girl (Manon), White girl (Megan), Indian girl (Lara), Filipina girl (Sophia), and Korean girl (Yoonchae). There's no way Marquise could have made it because they were only going to select one girl from each background and Filipina slot was taken up by Sophia. Since early votes, Sophia has been a fan favorite so Marquise never had a chance unless Sophia dropped out.
Megan is technically half Chinese but she looks fully white and can pass for the White member in the team. The two visuals in the team are Manon and Megan. It's smart to have multiple visuals to attract new members.

JYP picked 6 girls looking like cashiers at Walmart in a small town America.
Christina had best star quality but he chose Savanna, a short dancer with nice personality and messy hairs.
Melissa had amazing vocal and visual but JYP lost her.
Instead, he chose Kaylee and now Vcha looks like a group for Disney channel.
In the end, this selection makes much more business sense.

Been watching you recently, very interesting to see a producer perspective. Also, i think your prediction would have been close to perfect. If Nayoung hasnt expressed wanting to go solo, she could have been chosen instead of Yoonchae. Samara might have been chosen also, but apparently she got into controversy online that damage her vote number and ranking greatly. It's a pity because both Nayoung and Samara are very strong vocally. But the current team is great and balance too so i'm satisfied.

I think this has to be the best line up. Like the global variety, girls from different ethnicity and how all of them are so talented and all-rounded members. I bet the world sure gonna be watching them.

I'm sure Hybe x Geffen were frustrated too. but if we compare the visuals, (which I know we shouldn't do it) many my mutual west fans agree manon is pretty and fit with their beauty standard. Manon received huge supporters since samara fans turned their back on her. even if european fans might be racist toward manon, but america fans might liking her

Samara 는 막판 일주일? 정도 안좋은 소문 때문에 배제된 걸로 들 인식하더군요.
SNS에서 특정 국가를 비하하는 표현을 했었던 걸 들춰냈다나...
여튼 그 것 땜에 씨끄러웠고,, hybe는 공들인 프로젝트에 그런 risk를 피해가고 싶었겠죠.
그리고 일부에선 (저 포함), 소위 global pjt 인데 6명 갖고 어떻게 global을 represent할 수 있겠냐는 말이 있죠.
흑인의 할당이 1인 였을 것일텐데,, 멤버수 전체 6명에서는 마론하구 사마라중 1은 탈락을 해야 하는 구조로 보임,,,맴버가 10인 였다면 이2은 충분히 같이 데뷔 했을거 같아
전 데뷰 맴버 100프로 저의 예상대로 됐어요... 저는 그룹조건의 가장 중요한 스타성과 맴버들의 조화를 체크 했어요.. 마퀴와 에밀리,이즈렐라는 스타성이 부족해요.. 에밀리 ,이즈렐라는 키도 작아서 항상 센터에 포지션을 취해야 하는데 센터 주인공이 될만한 스타성과 카리스마도 없어요. . 사마라가 좀 아쉽지만 앞선 프리공연에 사마라가 빠졌어요.. 이유는 모르지만 그녀 또한 키가 작아서 다른 맴버와 조화가 힘들어요..
마퀴와 이즈렐라는 아이돌의 가장 중요한 조건 스타성이 부족한데 왜 k-pop에 맞다고 하는지 모르겠음.차리리 사마라가 괜찮죠. 거리가 무슨 상관이죠???. 걱정이라면 브라질인의 약속 안 지키고 자유분방한 생활방식이 문제이지....

Samara would’ve probably debuted if not for her scandal. They need a black girl so they debuted Manon instead of her. Same with Yoonchae, Nayoung wanted to be a soloist so Yoonchae got the part.
It worked out since Manon was popular for her visuals so a lot of people were happy with the result. And Yoonchae is also really pretty and singing and dancing are solid. Idk why I didn't notice her before

I really don't appreciate the way Hybe handle those "survival" show be it dream academy or R U next..it feels like the line up is decided before hand and the vote or will of the public is secondary..this is not the way to build up a fandom, in comparison i must say that i enjoy the way Jyp or YG handle it, we don't have a say in it but the way they chose members is understable and little is left to interpretation.

그리고 나는 오디션 프로그램 많이보는 사람이고 데뷔멤버는 거의 항상 정확히 맞춰요. (믿거나말거나 상관없고요.) 나는 많이 예리합니다.
The only good manon has is looks (according to people) but she looks pretty average to me. I hope she works on her lousy dancing and blank expression cuz i wanna root for her but her every performance is very underwhelming. I wanna see a black girl who dances and have facial expressions like normani kordei or something. For now I will just overlook all of it cuz I wanna support the other 5 girls who slayed since day 1.

They’re not a K-pop group, they are a global group under Hybe x Geffen. Only Korea cares about an artist’s visuals before their talents, that’s why most K-pop idols aren’t capable of singing without auto tune let alone live performances. Fans listen to your voice not your face.

Hybe didn't have a staff like JYP who could judge performances and express his opinion in English. That's why their program could not have the format like A2K.
But they got a better girl group in the end because Hybe had better business strategy.
