Hsienmo has a bigger and louder sound to my ear, but I expected that already. I have sold a few Hsienmos to people who own Martins, Collings and so on, and it is funny to hear the shock they have over how great these are compared to the instruments they spent so much money on. The common line, I never would have thought I could have gotten a better instrument at so much cheaper of a price.
HEY SHAWN !!! I'm a subscriber of your channel. I had just posted a response to a comment of another viewer in the previous "acoustic shoot-out" video on this channel, comparing a Hsienmo D45 against a Martin Vintage series D28. I told that viewer to check out your channel & contact you about buying Hsienmo. I had already mentioned in comments on your channel how I currently own 4 different Hsienmo models, all from their custom shop. People who are either sleeping on or dissing Hsienmo are truly missing out on a GREAT thing!!! Love ya Shawn, and greetings from Melbourne Florida.........Steve.
Great playing ! Martin D42 has better balance towards the low end, smoother as it goes deeper but highs are smooth, sweet without any harshness. Maybe an exceptional sample. In contrast deep lows were cut off and the highs naturally get emphasized in the Hsienmo D45 but trebles are not as sweet. Still a good guitar.
Martin has better balance and tone articulation especially on the high end of the scale but I’d rather have a D18 as my first choice and a close second a HD28 by Martin as opposed to either of those. The difference might be the strings but I liked the Martin slightly better.
Overall I think the Martin was a more balanced sound over the range. No doubt the Hsienmo sounds good, the top end does lack that je ne said quoi of the Martin. And only time will tell the build quality and materials used. Plus I think the Martin looks a better top.
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore I'm paying for the distinctive sound. Only a Martin guitar can sound like a Martin in my opinion. And I still believe they are the best 'all round guitar for different genres'. I hear and can see the difference in quality of sound and materials.
They both sound good, but that d42 is just so stunning in tone. You feel that Martin tone the very instant you began strumming it. Only with Martin can you gets that tone! Love your comparison vids Javis 🙏🫡
Standard Martin D-42 Modern Deluxe runs about $7200 while the Hsienmo D-45 with similar woods runs about $1550. I think the Hsienmo sounds warmer while the Martin is a bit tighter. Both are spectacular. I can afford a Hsienmo and upgrade body woods to spectacular Madi, cocobolo, African blackwood. Superb guitars for just about anyone which is Li Chen’s goal.
Here we go again my friend. The result of doing a head to head test pitting a Martin against another built in the far east WHILE SHOWING BOTH GUITARS WHILE PLAYING THEM. The result: ALL of the Martin owners are going to claim: "the Martin sounds better, and nothing sounds as good as a Martin". If you had done both of these videos where you did NOT reveal the guitars on camera as you played them..........the results from the viewers would be quite different. JP Cormier has proven this time & again on his channel by doing BLIND head to head tests. That method FORCES viewers....or should I say LISTENERS to choose WITHOUT brand loyal bias. One viewer below seems to think that "if the head stock says Martin, it's the best, period". I find that not only very sad, but quite untrue.
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Absolutely! Far too many people are SO "brand loyal".......they are happy to live in denial. Especially after paying SO much $$$ for a guitar.
